Anyone using the iPhone on O2?

Since I got my iPhone yesterday, I've made and received three phone calls (two incoming, one outgoing). To be honest, I'm not very happy with the speaker quality on my iPhone, and I'm wondering if I should take it back.

I was sitting in Starbucks this afternoon when I got the obligatory call from O2 asking if I was happy with the phone. Ironically, although I could hear him, I couldn't really understand what he was saying. His words sounded quite muffled and distorted.

Later, I was at home with no background noise when my wife called me. I could hear her perfectly, but her words weren't very clear at all.

In the evening I made a call from home (in the same room) to a friend, and again, his words were not very clear and were slightly distorted.

I've had an iPhone before, and I don't remember having such issues with the previous one. I was using that one with T-Mobile though, so I'm wondering if it might be a network problem rather than something wrong with the phone. The phone has had between three and five bars of signal each time, so it's not a weak signal issue.

Can I get some opinions from any O2 users on the call quality? Anyone else suffered from any distortion or sound clarity?

possibly a faulty iPhone then as I've had no issues with call quality on O2, or on t-mobile either

Thanks Masseur

Would O2 swap it, do you reckon? Or would they send it back for repair? It's only two days old, by the way.

no idea what o2 do, sorry, but I would expect they should replace it if you go back to the shop as it would seem to be faulty from new

Thanks. I'll give them a mouthful if they don't replace it - it's unacceptable!

Dont' "give them a mouthfull", we HATE people like you with a passion, please just be reasonable and understanding and don't get all huffy with the sales staff because of how head office choose to operate, we don't make up the rules so lay off...

Anyway, if it's within 28 days standard phone procedure is if its faulty they'll swap it in store for a new one, provided you've got the box, all original accessories etc and the receipt of course. The iPhone is a little different, same thing I believe but they have to take the sims out and destroy one of them, can't remember which tho lol (ie do they transfer it all across to the new one, or let you use your old one).

We've hardly ever had a faulty one, so we don't really know

is ur phone unlocked? If so test another sim in and make a call! O2 used to sound terrible in my area all my friends had to repeat themselves to me. It quite poss just the network and not ur handset, u should swap sims to check if ur phones actually unlocked!

I've been using my iPhone on o2 without a problem, legitimately without it being unlocked without any problems, i'm guessing your unfortunate and have a faulty handset.

Got my exchange without a hitch, so I didn't have to give the staff a mouthful (I worked retail for over ten years, and I hate customers like that too, but believe me, some shop staff deserve it).

In any case, I took the old SIM out before entering the shop, and she popped it into the new phone, destroying the newer SIM. It was interesting to find I was given a 1.1.2 phone, when the original one was 1.1.4. And this phone was from a 'new' batch, fresh in this morning.

Some, yeah.
Some really have no sense of urgency, and they wind me up

02 don't often cause probs when a customer has a issue they'll exchange your phone no problem with a reciept,

thats my past experiences with those anyway!

Vodafone exchanged my phone on my doorstep so I didn't have to visit a shop lol

btw glad to hear you got a functioning handset now shane
