It's hard to say. But if I were you, I'd get it from a reliable brick and mortar store. It may be more expensive, but you get the real thing.

How's the sound? What about the packaging? If the packaging doesn't come with the orange pack, it's a fake.

yep is fake... i got the same one also white HPM-82... according to SE thy only made black HPM-82 also this headfone had slowly kill my w800...it was working like a charm, but after a few days it stop working when i try to listen music with it. my fone juz wont read the headset. when the headset feels like to let my fone to read it, music plays fine n everything works... but after u unplug the headset out... u cant play any music or make any calls on the fone...to solve this must restart the fone... and now when i go to the menu i cant see the cursor picture... it only show me a black background moving around when i move the joystick

I checked out a chinese made HPM 70 at a mobile accesories shop.
he said theyre 'original' sony ercissons made in china, as opposed to fake ones
the price was cheap, as expected. Rs.250 - (6 US$)
(without waranty/boxing)
the thing is, I was convinced they were copies until i found the yellow tag which has the device info on it. It looked pretty original.
the sound however was ok, not so great bass.
But then I wouldnt know the difference as Ive never heard an original HPM 70 either
Anyways, the thing is, these fakes are so good (if theyre fakes), that its hard to know if what uve bought is quality stuff unless u buy something boxed from original dealer,

so i also purchased the HPM 82 and it seemed to work well , on my W810i. after a couple of hours it just stopped working . when i detatch then re-attach it to the phone , it works well again for the next 2 to 3 minutes, then it stops working and goes back to loudspeaker mode. my old HPM 75 , works well with the same phone. what could be the problem?

I would suggest you buy these headset from the official
page or some reliable company. Especially for the HPM82 as there are so many fakes of that model around...
