1) is it a risky business to install patches?
2) can it really cause phone to crash?

i've seen many ppl have their phone dead, so i'm a bit worried to install pathes on my phone...

ur lucky man, these are the patch:
http://www.fileden.com/files/[....]/firmware%20dsb/lock_patch.vkp

it will enable password for messages (inbox, sent and draft), file manager, contact and keypad.. also enable whitelist to blacklist...
but i've heard there's something error in locking keypad so i suggest u do not enable lock on keypad..
after aplying the patch u can find on setting --> security --> phone --> privacy

Well most of the patches are made for the most used MAIN (the GENERIC one)... Anyway there is still difference from one MAIN to another... That's why the data missmatch appears...

this is my firmware : K800_R8BF003_MAIN_GENERIC_WI_RED52.mbn i guess the "wi" thing is the problem ) ..i dont know what it means

Well I have R8BA024 firmware (not upgrading to latest due to research I'm doing) ... Anyway, the patches I have tried work great except some graphic patches but the problem was with the donor images, not the firmware... And I have a 2 letter prefix on my firmware too... My prefix is SM so I don't think this has something with the patches...
