I bought this headset (HPM 64) to replace the original bundled headset (HPM 70) from my SE w610. The price is just US$10. Do you think it's the original one? The sound is excellent, it has bass reflex as advertised. The packaging is pure Sony Ericsson.

Anybody who has tried this headset?

The Hpm64 is a headset released by SE... The sound quality is good, but it is not noise cancelling headset as the HPM70, but it's still a good headset

hpm-70 is NOT noise canceling, by any stretch of imagination. Hpm-64 are cheap, it will probably be official. Watch you don't tie the leads in knots, the cable will snap if you do!

It's really hard nowadays to detect originals from fakes. Just make sure that you purchase it from a reliable source then you're good to go. BTW, US$10 is just about the right price.

well ive seen the HPM-70 fakes and the SE's logo was the obvious difference.

you are correct. I think the poster may be confused with sound isolation. The HPM-70 earbuds are of the in-ear canal type and are described as Isolating headphones as the small buds fit right inside the ear canal blocking out a lot of sound that would otherwise filter through the normal ear bud style (such as teh HPM-64). I can confirm that the HPM-70 isolation is indeed an improvement over non-isolating ear buds.

Noice Cancelling is quite a different thing and involves electronics that monitor outside sounds to create equal and opposite sounds that cancel out the external sound waves. Sound Isolation on the other hand simply blocks external sound waves but doesn't cancel them out.

Some would say in ear phones are sound isolating but passive. Those with circuitry are nowadays termed as active sound isolating phones.
