Im looking to upgrade my 6MP Casio Camera which I bought for my Holiday to Berlin back in Oct 2006,
Im looking for the cheapest either 10MP or 12MP Camera at a great price,
anyone seen any good deals please post them up Thanks
Posted by Rookwise
I think its Currys that have one in the sale for £79.99 but can't remember what type or the resoultion.
Looking for a cheap one myself so I can take some pics when the baby is born

I don't know much about cameras but I do know it's not all about how many MP there are, for example an expensive 9MP camera can produce better quality pictures then a cheap 12MP camera.
Watched a program a while back, may of been the gadget show (infact i think it was) they were saying there's only so many MP you need before it becomes slightly pointless.

I found this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Casio[....]l-Camera-Optical/dp/B000MVWEHY
Casio camera over the weekend in PC World for £99.99 I thought it was a good bargain until I relized that I might be able to get a 12MP one for a little bit more perhaps.
I will be selling my EX-Z60 btw soon hoping to make some cash towards my next one lol
Posted by BobaFett
i would buy from casio calculator, but never anything else
take a nikon miss, it do served me well
Posted by Miss UK
Boba ive owned 2 Casio camera's now and there quite easy to use,
ive got a Canon Sureshot Z115 at my mothers but thats ancient lol
I was looking at kodak however im sceptical over those as they break easy I had a film one once and it broke bit hacked of cos I never got to use it for snapping pics lol
what are Samsung cameras like?
I need to get rid of my Casio cos myphone is creeping up on it
Posted by Seanyb2
How much you looking to spend roughly. I have a 8.1 mega pixel Sony CyberShot N1 though that cost me 2 years ago 350.00. Crazy. Think there is a 12mega pixel Kodak in Argos for 129.99 though not sure if Kodak are reliable. I have found Sony Panasonic and Casio the most reliable. Nikon Cool Pix range i find play up alot and so do Pentax. Good luck i will look out for something for you. Jessops tend to be quite cheap.
Posted by Seanyb2
I forgot to say its also down to quality of lens and processor inside the camera thats counts. Also a larger sensor is better too lets in more light.
Posted by Miss UK
about £100 to £150 depending if I can get £60 for my old camera lol
Jessops cost way to much I picked up some sale thing from Merryhell over the weekend Sean and there prices were just OTT for me,
they do reconditioned cameras on there website even those are OTT lmao!
Posted by Seanyb2
Actually i forgot to mention Samsung and Canon. I once tested a Samsung S830 8 mega pixel camera in Comet. It was 79.99 with 2.7 inch screen and solidly built and it was suprisingly good quality i was shocked. Only bad thing was AA batteries. Alot of their cameras have won awards and top reviews so i would consider them. Cant think of a cheap place for cameras but i will look after work tomorrow afternoon.
Posted by Miss UK
do all Samsung Cameras take those batterys I saw that Argos had a good deal on one for £100, but unlike Casio cameras they take Lithium batterys something like phones have, id like a camera with those tbh
ok sean let me know what you see
Posted by Seanyb2
No only cheaper Samsungs take AA their cameras over 100 normally take lithium. Goodnight.
Posted by Miss UK
Ok thats kewl Sean, yeah Goodnight im off too
Posted by pmerryman
I'm sure that the size of the MP, is only relevant if you want to print it out on a large scale.
If your only taking holiday snaps, and are going to print them to the normal snap size, then is there really any point in getting a new camera?
Posted by drlau9
I believe manufacturers use different types of batteries for different types of cameras. The point and shoot these days often tend to be as slim as possible so the only way to power the device is through a chewing gum type battery. The down side of that is when you run out of charge you need to spend 2 hrs or more to recharge.
I use a fujifilm bridge camera (s8000fd) which consumes 4 x AA's at 2700mah, Im not suggesting you buy one of these, but you need to consider how many pictures you take, and if it's more than the amount you can take with one charge you may need to look into AA powered.
And with 12mp you need to have a big memory card (sdhc), if you're printing standard photos in 6" format then 12mp is an overkill.
And more MP doesn't mean you get more light, you need more light for the pictures to become clear. If you have a high mp camera and wish to take moving images without flash, or long distance shots you need a camera that has under 8mp.
Derek.

or u could always keep an eye out for good deals and maybe save a little money b4 jumpin in and buying...
when am out and about i always take my Sony A100 (dslr) with me.... and now currys are selling it for £299 with the 18-70mm lens... battery is good for about 600 pics on a full charge and i've not found any issues with it yet!
Other than that i used fuji cams before the sony one and never had any issues with them!

If you have the money Sony N2 is good.
Otherwise try www.trustedreview.com as they have quite a few 12mp reviews.
Posted by Seanyb2
I once had years ago a very old Sony P93 5 mega pixel camera which took amazing photos. Now just a year ago i had a Panasonic 6 mega pixel FX01 and picture quality on the Panasonic was poor compared to the Sony which had one million pixels less. I have found Carl Ziess lenses to be very sharp. Even though i said Samsung cameras are good the ones with lithium batteries the cheap ones which take AA batteries are very poor for battery life. They barely last a few hours just like their mobile phones. Lol. I would say the average now is 6 mega pixel if you go high like 9 or 12 mega pixel but the camera is cheap then picture quality may suffer. I forgot to mention Fuji yesterday they are fantastic and their cameras are the best for low light photograpy. But anyway we still gotta look for cheap for you.
Posted by Miss UK
So u lot think I should hangon to my 6MP Casio Ex-Z60 then? Is there much difference between a 6 and 10MP anyway?
Posted by Seanyb2
There is only much difference between them if you want to print massive prints like poster size. I never notice the difference on a pc screen except perhaps when you zoom into see detail on the picture maybe. It really takes a trained eye to notice and im quite fussy im happy with my Sony N1 8 mega pixel but i still see no difference with the pictures it takes and a 6 mega pixel camera. Its obviously up to you perhaps save your money if your camera is still in good condition and working well hang onto it as its probably not worth wasting your money unless you really want it.

Kerry, it depends what you're going to do with the pics really, or what its for.
If it's holiday snaps or quick snaps out and about, of your friends etc, then hell your N95 8GB is fine for that, as is your current digital camera.
Unless you're a budding photographer and want to take stunning looking shots and like playing about with all the settings, then what you've got at the mo is fine.

My Camera is in VGC I bearley use it tbh,
comes in handy for pics on here or eBay lmao
I take pics of my Niece with my phone as the 8GB memory is indeed very handy now lol
btw I would love a new one cos of my phone theres only 1MP difference btw both of them now
i'll keep a eye out anyway,
I don't mind paying something silly cos I can sell my old enn for £60 anyway!

James, previousley I bought a 3MP Casio Camera off Member Ofiach which was a lovely little thing, but when I went to Berlin end of 2006 I changed to a 6MP Camera lol
I use my camera for Hols, Pic's for here and there,
they do come in handy even if you don't use them that much there a Godsend to have anyway
I do understand where your all getting at though..
I paid £139.99 for my EX-Z60 back in 2006..
I needed it quick for Berlin ..
prices are very good today on them and if I can find something for under £100 then I may just grab it but im not in too much of a hurry

comming from someone who used to sell the silly things alday long, dont get another casio. they are really bad now. If you want something that takes good pictures look at sony cameras that start with w. eg w55.
dont worry about mega pixels. its only the size of the picture. for example my main camera is a 6mp fuji camera, which can knock the socks out of most lower/middle end cameras still. if you can find a fuji starting F eg f30, id look at them as well. they have large sensors so have a nice picture quality and are good at night time.

Hey! I've got a Casion Exilim S770 and it's bloomin' fantastic. I did plenty of research too and it met all my criteria, as well as taking some cracking shots. I mainly wanted one that was very small and fast, and it's both those plus the quality of the pics is pretty good by my standards
Posted by The Lostprophet
just compairing them to everything else in the market. not saying they are really bad. but there is better.
suppose its all down to personal view
Posted by drlau9
Digital cameras have a benchmark to meet, I guess when you buy the camera for 'fun' you're bound to get used to what it produces. Fuji's are really adjustable with manual settings, where as sony produce clear, smooth pictures on auto. Though you have to pay more for that badge.

True, but I needed one that was ultra slim and fast at starting/taking pictures, which this certainly is (start up and first picture with flash in about 3 to 4 seconds isn't bad lol).
I love it cause it slips into my trouser pocket nicely

@ Lostpro, I intend on doing the mathematics and shopping around first btw, Casio are very easily to use camera's I think
as ive said if I see something cheap with 10MP i'll go for it btw
James have you noticed how these Casio's look the same lmao
heres mine:
Posted by Seanyb2
Digital Camera Buyer magazine gave the Sony W80 5 stars for everything and its 7.2 mega pixel. It was 149 when it came out some months ago so should be cheap now. Comes in pink too. Lol. Recent reviews also gave the Casio S880 a test winner for picture quality its 8 mega pixels was 169 will be cheaper by now.
Posted by Daedalus85
Kerry: Yeah, mine looks pretty much like, that slimmer and in brushed silver
Posted by Miss UK
I have seen a cheap 7.2MP Sony in a sale at Additions direct,
however I want 10MP atleast now.. it was £100
I would a Pink Camera Sean,
ive had silver and black lol
James are you upgrading yours?
Posted by Daedalus85
No way lol, only got it for my birthday in November
Last digital camera I had before that was a 3.1MP fixed focus Mustek piece of crap lol

@Miss_Uk
Have you considered a lower end DSLR. Nothing comes close to shooting with a DSLR except for the lack of video which your N95 should suffice. Since you've got an N95 for those on the spot pics, the DSLR should serve you well in trips etc.. I think a Canon EOS350D should be in the 200-250 pound range as the new 450D has released. The 350D is 8Mpx. THe only thing is, once you get a DSLR its almost as addictive as phones, and you seriously need to control yourself from buying new lenses
Posted by Seanyb2
I have seen a few Sony's in pink. Yuk even if i were a woman i would never buy pink. Lol. Ghastly.
Posted by Seanyb2
Kerry there is a new Casio out the EX Z1200 12 mega pixel for £180 given 5 stars by Digital Camera Buyer magazine. Probably you can find it cheaper somewhere.
Posted by Miss UK
LOL can't diss 3MP cameras only when they take batterys maybe James
btw your camera looks alot like mine look after it then there pretty kewl items and easy to use
Tbh I really want another Casio camera and my minds set on Pink next,
if I got anything else and I wasn't familar with it for hols and such i'd be hacked of trying to use it or look at the intructions throughout my hols..
I want something easy and no messing about
My N95 comes in handy I tend to take pics with that on holiday too,
like I did with my D600i
good to have a phone and camera on holiday,
it's abit embarissing carry a camera round with you cos ppl assume your a tourist, I had a few people come upto me cos I had my camera round my neck in Berlin lmao!
Sean, hey that cam looks good..
I wouldn't mind that :-0
does it come in Pink
Posted by Seanyb2
Not sure if its in pink but try to Casio website or something. And yes i hate looking like a tourist in another country i have to laugh when i see lots of Japanese men walking around with big cameras looking all excited. When i visited my friend in Hungary back in January we went to Budapest and as excepted Japs everywhere ya gotta love em they are funny.
Posted by Miss UK
lol i'll have a browse over there tomorrow TA Sean,
you know what makes me laugh?
the tourists taking pics in Brum of that Bull outside the Bullring,
what the hecks that about?
I think next time I go away i'll hide my camera in my pocket lmao
Posted by parsnip
I have a red exilim ex-s880 which is small and fast..
good for recording videos too,
looks basically the same as your camera but thinner
cost me £125
Posted by Daedalus85
Yeah thats the one up from mine, I think mine was a similar price back in November, but I chose to ask for the S770 above the 880 as there were a few reviews saying that S880 was actually worse than it's predecessor lol.
Not saying yours is a bad camera though, it's still great by all accounts
Posted by Miss UK
I think I must of rushed in and bought mine when it was hot of the shelfs mine cost £139.99 can't remember wich site it was from though, it was cheaper then everywhere tho and was shipped extremely fast
if anyone spots any 10MP/12MP cheap £100ish pink casios please let me know

quite strange, both of your cameras have been very similar to mine
the last one before my s880 was a nisis pocket-dv 2 which was very similer to aiptek and mustek cameras..
Posted by Daedalus85
lol, how odd
Mine had a metal casing, which was a big mistake cause when I put it in the overhead storage on a coach, I didn't realise the compartment was air conditioned and it literally 'froze up' alone with my metal cased PDA lol. Took a good hour or so for them to 'thaw out' before they worked again
