to use kulankendi u need to pay money to recover from BROD?

which files do i need to download to flash my k850? i see drivers, kkclients, etc etc its so confusing

Posted by betoe
In theory, you must pay credits (about 12 USD) to flash your main firmware and file system.

To buy credits on Kulankendi you must use paypal (i have not seen option for credit card).

For me its confusing too, i want to know everything i must do before pay. The site use technical terms like "CID" etc... I only know i have a K850i with brod and i want to flash it. I dont know what kind of CID it have.

Greetings

Posted by fbloise
FYI guys:
CID is like a protection DRM issued for Sony Ericsson phones.

I believe the K850 has CID 53, like W910 and many A200 platform phones.

K750 has CID 36
W810 has CID 49
K800 and K810 have CID 52

Right now, the CID 53 protection hasn't been fully broken so programs like XS++ doesn't work with CID 53 phones.

My experience using KulanKendi:
- get at least 70 percent battery life. Take out SIM card and M2.
- buy a credit via paypal
- download KK SE Client, save it in D drive, and run KK SE Client
- press get login button, fill in the form to get password
- enter login and password, check account.
- click download. Pick up R1EA031 K850 CHINA MAIN CID 52.min and R1EA031 APAC ANZ.fsm. Download them, wait until transfer completed.
- go to DB3150 or A2 tab. Tick Finalisation, clear user code, reset call timer and change CDA to 1201-8437. This CDA is for Customised Indonesia which is SEUS-Friendly.
- open file MAIN and FS. They are located in FlashFiles folder in D drive, the same folder you place your KK SE Client.
- instal USB Flash Driver for K850i. You should get it automatically by running SEUS until the step when you hold C and release C.
- go back to KK SE Client. Click Flash Phone, hold C , plug in DCU-65 and wait until KK reads your phone identity, release C, and....let KK do its job. Do not interrupt the process.
At least 12 minutes afterwards it's all done. KK SE client will display 'all is done'
- unplug DCU-65
- take out battery, reinsert, turn on phone, wait until you see insert SIM Card or view demo.
- run SEUS, update to R1EA037.
- good luck.

I didn't have a BROD but a flashed with Da Vinci to upgrade my handset. It was soo... easy, i could actually do it with my eyes closed. Purchase credits, create account, download client, connect phone and your away. It costs 10euro, £8, $16. Very easy.
ONE THING, when finished, and turning phone on again, be very patient, my phone displayed the 'Please Wait' Notice for about 2 mins whilst it sorted everything out, very worried that £140 was going to disapear before my eyes, worked simlessly. Upgraded to 031 using SEUS, been going strong for a week now...

i di what you said but cant create a account to log in have i done somthing wrong i purchaced credits from davinchi but cant create a account

any one ???????????????????????????????

I tried to register at davinci team, but as i understand after search the entire site, the login data is related to the credits purchase, dont know if they sent you an email with this information (look on your email inbox or spam for incoming emails).

So any guide on how to use davinci? there doesnt seem to be a 'flash DB3150' just 'flash DB2020'
edit: found a pdf!
how do i make sure it flashes both filesystem & main?

Also, would you recommend davinci or kk?

based on my experience.. KK is easier to use.. and it's fast.. it will only take you like 5-10 mins..

Posted by Duran
so i guess i need to go back to R1CA037 -.- -.- -.-??

Posted by Tervel
I personally found Davinci easier to use and more intuitive. I couldn't figure out KK so I didn't use it even though it was cheaper. Buy 10 credits, login to site, download client, logon to client and select which FW you want to use.

Duran > I went back to CA037 after 2 BRODs on 031. I know the camera is not as good, and the phone is a bit slower but for the past 3 months it has been working without any serious problems.

Just to inform you that KulanKendi has already got the latest R1EA037 firmware on the server. KulanKendi is easy to use. Trust me. I had posted the step before..

ah well i dont wanna use 037 anyway if it gets me BSODs

Posted by Duran
Well, i've just reflashed with davinci to 031, same CDA as before.. and all went fine.
Phone's back on and guess i'll go to 037 now..both are BROD sensitive so it doesnt really matter..

Just had my first random reboot after owning this phone for 2 days. Ugh!

Would anyone recommend using R1DA038 as a "safe" firmware to downgrade to via. KulanKendi? I need some insight - the last time I owned a K850i was during the R1CA029 era... lol.. thanks!

Well, f*** you SE. I just had my second BROD. Really sudden, no other resets in the past month. I had R1EA037. The phone was on the table, nobody was using it.

I managed to start the phone again only after a reflash from DaVinci.

So 3 f*** yous to SE:

1. For not being able to correct this shitty problem YET.
2. For not offering for free what DaVinci offers for 10 euros.
3. For losing all my data every time this crap phone decides to die.

These guys at SE are really big imbeciles.

omg... serious??????

i think u need to change ur signature? =P

LOL Indeed!

I think SE sales for the next few quarters are going to be slim pickings with ANY A200 phone due to K850i issues.

Question when the phone reboots from BROD successfully rebooting on its own is the D-Pad counter reset?

dpad counter?

One month and 3 days of daily use with R1DA038 and only 4 freezes so far. It's true that I actually turn it off/back on once a day (or two days, if I forget) to reset and free the memory. I read that the battery life is poor with this FW version, but this is how I bought the phone so I can't compare. I was willing to upgrade ONLY because I want my battery to last longer, other than this I had no other major issues with it.
I am recommending it as safe based on my personal experience.

DaVinci worked like a charm, I recommend it, takes approximately 10 minutes and then everything works fine

Hmm thanks, I'll probably give this FW a go once I hit BROD. Although hopefully SE will release an update by then.

Face recognition (as in the C902)

Brod = blue ring of death
its a failure on the phone, like a bug, so you cant use your phone because it does not turn on at all, only keyboard and camera ring turn on.

I have fixed my BROD with kulankendi

Thank you for prompt answer, but i have another question. When i turn on camera a blue ring apear around the camera. It is normal or... it is BROD??? I hope not.

Posted by fbloise
io domi:
That's normal.
Now, when BROD, only your keyboard and the blue ring will light up.
Nothing else.

I have the same firmware as you have and I've never experience anything weird on my phone.

io_domi if your keyboard and camera ring will light on and display will be off and nothing will work you will know that U have BROD.

My k850 has a different problem...total darkness....I have dealt with a BROD once with DaVinci, but now nothing works.

I was in the middle of a call when the phone just died. If I plug the charger in, the on button lights red, the battery gets charged (checked with multimeter) but will not turn on. With the DaVinci client, remove & replace battery, plugging in while holding C, or holding 2 & 5, nothing happens.

Any suggestions? Has this fault got an acronym I don't know? No Ring Of Death, Death?

Hello!
I am still afraid of upgrading to R1F but I have 1 credit left in KK account,I don't remember if 1 credit is sufficient to fully flash the phone(just in case it Broded again),so if a user of KK can just say yes or no...

Sounds similar to the eprom issue on K800. Maybe DAVINCI can update that first - and free? I dont think you need to do the whole "c" thing for that - but im not sure...

1 credit left? Sure you can use that to flash your phone again. Just 1 credit for a full flash.

I have the sam problem. The lights just flash and the phone turns off.
I have a big problem with that credit becoz I'm from Croatia. If somebody have credit for KulanKendi client i wolud give him 3 months rapidshare account
in exchange. Please PM me or add me on MSN.

Here is my frustrating BROD experience:

Used SUES to upgrade to 31 and everything was fine. One day I let my battery drain til the phone died. Plugged it in and let it charge for a few hours, came back and it was BROD.

Did some research. Found out about KulanKendi. Bought credits and flashed. Now the phone is completely dead. Not even the BROD....just lifeless. Kept trying to reflash with KK. No luck. Wasted credits.

Not wanting to pay SE $100 to fix it I wait a few weeks and decide to try Davinci. Bought credits. It recognizes the phone, flashes it with correct FW and says "Success!". Phone still dead. Wasted credits.

Bite the bullet and have just sent it in to a repair shop recommended by SE. $100 bucks gone....plus the $30 I wasted on KK and Davinci and $6 more on shipping.

IF it comes back working, I am sure they will put 31 back on and I fear it will just BROD again. But since I have not had any luck with reflashing, Im scared to even try to put 37 or 38 on.

If it BRODs again, I am going to demand a new phone or else give my lawyer a call. Their customers should not have to deal with all of this bullsh*t because they release a buggy FW as "stable".

Posted by aremaboy
I am a loyal customer of KulanKendi. No problem at all with their server. If a phone is still dead after flashing, it may be a hardware failure.

My K850 goes in BROD two days ago, I solved flashing with davinci...

This is not possible, who wants to buy my K850?

Posted by aremaboy
BROD is fixed for free by SEUS now. No need to worry.

Posted by gordonowusu
but its not working for me. It says 'Update not available'. My phone has BROD. should i wait to see if SE will bring out a new FW so i can flash my phone?

Just run SEUS, plug your BROD phone and let SEUS do the job. The usual procedures.

Do you think that SEUS can fix brod?
Actually with ADRIATIC R1FA035 SEUS tell me that there is no update available...

Hey guys,

Sony is Sony, not SE; don't compare. Let K850 be the last faulty SE phone. I think if it was something wrong in the code.. it could be fixed. But the problem persist.. I think even SE tech's don't know why could this occure..

Anyway.. very good and simple for fixing BROD and 'Operation Failed' thing is http://www.totalgsm.org .

I agree with this. Although sony ericsson had several buggy phones like this... You remember the P990 and it's lack of RAM memory which resulted in serious problems and restarts of the phone. Anyway the P990 got fixed somehow with firmware updates, but the K850 still is not in perfect working order. The k800s were like that in the beginning. They were buggy. I think these things are related to the new platform that the K850 uses. Everytime release a new platform this kind of bugs appear.

I'm trying to use KK to recover my phone from brod, but I think it killed it even more. I installed the drivers from the KK website and ran the client, but when I plugged in the phone it started doing the red led thing, which I understand to be something to do with the erom? Getting a bit out of my depth now! Anyway, tried to carry on, but it won't seem to let me download any firmware files to flash it with, jus comes up with an error message... any ideas?

Edit: Ok, it eventually let me download some firmware without issue, but I flashed it (to R1FA035) and it's not fixed, still doing red led thing. Help!

Does flashing the phone use a load of battery? I'd tried charging the phone before doing this (hard to know how much charge during brod!) i've plugged the phone into a power outlet and it seems like it might be working...kind of... The SE logo came up the changed to the charging animation, but then the animation seems to have frozen.

Edit: OK, I'm officialy stupid, it did just need charging. Maybe while it's in brod it doesn't charge? Mine's been that way for almost a week now, but I have had it on charge for a while.

Try reviving it with TotalGSM. It seems to be better than KK client.

Thought i'd reply with my experience with FIXING the BROD

Today was the first i'd ever heard of it.

Typical story. Had left phone in work bag and it had gone flat. I thought i'd just charge it when I get into work. Go get phone. Find phone won't turn on. Start googling for "dead K850". Find this thread and start reading ...

My Solution : Standard sony update service "Seus!" Yes! No other tool required.

Now the "gotchas". Throughout my quest for info about this issue I noticed that some people said "it works" others said it "died at 0%" or "5%" all varying figures.

When I first did the re-flash i only got to 33%.

Then I clicked. The problem is battery power!

It would seem that when the phone is in flash memory mode that it doesn't draw power via the data cable like it does with every other mode. As such it drains the battery VERY fast.

Also when its in bsod/dead you can't tell how much charge you have. You can't even tell "when" its charging either! You might have left the phone plugged in but its not actually charging because of this issue.

What I did was to plug in the phone (only had the usb cable @ work) and try and power on the phone. After a few key presses I finally get the normal lit up keypad + brod.

LEAVE THE PHONE IN THIS STATE FOR ATLEAST 2 HOURS!

This should give "atleast" enough charge to allow a full reflash using seus tool.

Relex and wait for it to complete.

Upon restart I got some "please wait" message plus dodgey plain theme. I just waited and the phone restarted and applied that dodgey crystal theme. A re-sync with my phone explorer and I was back to where I was a few hours before. yay!

edit: My firmware version is : R1FA035
