I'm surprised noone created this yet.
I was at the qualifying in Melbourne today and it was fantastic. Fortunately the 40 degree temperature from yesterday was not there today and during the qualifying it was a much cooler 24
Good on Hamilton getting pole position, and Coulthard did well to get 8th. Poor old Jensen not getting into the final 10 and the same goes to Webber who spun out not from from where I was
Anyway, I'm sure Kimi will get back into the front end action pretty quickly tomorrow

Who's your pick to win this weekend Masseur?
Posted by Dups!
Hammilton certainly looks to be the man to beat.
Posted by senninha
awesome pace by the BMW's tho. kubica would have been on pole if not for that slide across the grass...
this could be a great season if there are 3 teams regularly battling it out for victory
Posted by arien617
Ahh the race is like 4ish local time!
Gonna watch the highlights instead.

A true season opener. Many drivers still on their winter break, and looking very ragged.
Well done Hamilton, the most consistent all weekend, and fully deserved the win.
Last season I predicted Hamilton would be a revelation, and he exceeded all expectations, now the expectation is that he should win the title, so will the pressure get to him. Not on todays showing, but it is a long season.

no traction control will be an important factor this year................
was a action packed race though, how many cars were left, not even 10?
oooo, and it was 40 degrees here today, 50 on the track, would have been hard for the drivers!
Posted by lamont
i was trying not to see the result and i turned the internet on, msn homepage comes on and its there in huge bloody letters! wasnt appy! lol
Posted by masseur
sorry for the late reply. I was in transit.
My prediction would have been Hamilton and thats what happened. I also predicted that Kimi would race through the pack to the top 3 but that didn't happen.
anyway, it was a great race and so now looking forward to the next in Malaysia
Posted by totalgsm
All the hype about Ferrari being the the team to beat was just bullish, nothing like that happened.
If not for Raikkonen's errors he should have finished atleast second.
Anyways he gets a point.
Looking forward to the next race on Sunday at Sepang.

Anyone hear about Hamilton and Kovalainen 5 place grid penalties. What a pity was hoping for a high tension start with Massa going off the road into the grass (as usual
Posted by arien617
I'm guessing those sanctions were down to their really slow fuel saving drive back to the pits after Q3 this morning, getting in the way of one of the BMWs if I recall correctly.
Also if I recall correctly, there were more cars, other than Lewis' and Heikki's doing this.

Thats right, it was because they were trying to save fuel, not sure if anyone else was doing this, missed qualiy, but sadly for some reason Max and Bernie have it in for poor old Ron Dennis and McLaren, although this might not be one of "those" times when McLaren may have been inappropriately penalized.
Posted by shyam335
Inappropriate? Have you really seen the footage. They didn't get off the racing line even at braking point. Both for Nick and Fernando. At the same time kubica and some others got off the racing line.
Posted by ayejatt
yup, both deserved to be demoted 5 places.. it was dangerous as well
Posted by arien617
Think of the collision, they were saying something like 180mph closing speed!
Plus there were other cars that could well have been caught up in this making it ever more of a disaster!
Posted by senninha
rookies...
Posted by arien617
Ahh good race today.
Lewis did well to catch up though, had the Toyota I think only like a second in front at one point.
Shame Bahrain is 2 weeks away.
Posted by aksd
Depressing race, the only higlight of today was Massa loosing it, just as I had predicted, seems like he needs to transfer to WRC for his own good lol
Posted by senninha
have you guys seen this? max mosley caught in a nazi sadomasochistic orgy with 5 hookers?
ron dennis must be having a good chuckle right now...

This is interesting, will with till next week's GP, Don't think it will effect motorsports so much i hope

Hi all
Well so far from what i have seen on the GP coverage there is not a single person that has come out in support of Max Mosley the best he got was no comment from Ferrari.
Who thinks he will be able to survive as suing the News of the World could be very costly especially if he loses and i don't see how with pictures he is going to be able to deny it.
Are his days numbered?
Personally i have never liked him and defiantly think he should go and sooner rather than later.
Marc

i think it's just a matter of time and the sooner he goes, the less damage to the sport and to the FIA there will be. but as usual with max, his ego gets in the way first...
Posted by Dogmann
Hi all
Well i saw last night on the News 24 ticker that Max Mosley's fate would be decided by a secret ballot on June 6th. So hopefully then we will see him get his just deserts and he will lose all his power and position.

Well he had it in for Ron Dennis, and I like Ron Dennis so I don't really care if he goes.

Never liked him either,
I'm hoping he gets the
chop.

I noticed there were no comments from the last couple of races
have we lost interest in F1 this year?
What do people think about Hamilton running into Kimmi? and about the penalty he got of a 10 place drop down the grid on the next race?
Posted by badassmam
I'm happy for the BMW boys and the team. Kubica has quietly moved to the top of the drivers and BMW the constructors table. Heidfeld has also done well. I was happy when Renault and Alonso won a few years back, I get bored of Ferrari v McLaren (more so Ferrari) winning every year.

I'm quite disappointed with Lewis, this was his race and he messed up. I don't think Kimmi had much of a chance in this one but I'm very happy it was BMW that won this one and not Ferrari.

hamilton runing into kimi was such a dumb mistake. i'd say it was a rookie error except that he isn't a rookie anymore although he still acts like one every so often. he was warned by his team about the red light, and not one but two drivers noticed the light and were able to stop at the pit exit.
ah well, i've completely given up on mclaren anyway. ever since hakkinen's last title in 1999, the one thing that mclaren have been the absolute masters of is snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. it seems that hamilton will fit that mold quite well...
Posted by aldrinus
hurray for kubica!
its high time for him to win one.. i'm a kimi fan, though
Posted by Trev1982
lewis u doink better luck next time lol
Posted by Caspa
as a Brit, im a Mclaren and Hamilton fan.
That was a proper "D'oh" moment from him!
Definate well done to Kubica, he's been pushing that BMW to its limits and deserved his first win.
F1 has really got the excitement back with the removal of the traction control and the new young breed of drivers!

i fully agree on both points!

so yer not bad qualifying i guess, see how the race goes not really many places for lewis to overtake, shame could be loosing the track though,
oh just incase you dont get ITV in your country my friend in usa just twittered me this
http://stream.ra1kkonen.com/
he just watched it said not bad quality

Thunderstorms expected for tomorrow.
Even though Lewis is on P13, he can pull one out of the bag.
Posted by Trev1982
im thinking Lewis gonna be on a 2 stop tommorow and he full of fuel and just gonna try n take his places when the rest of them pit, cant really see another way from P13
Posted by Caspa
naa, think he's on a 3 stopper as its the quickest way round with the short pit lane and type of track.
but when it comes to passing, hes the best so really hope he can show us some magic!

I'd love nothing more than that but I don't see him saving this one. It would take a miracle. In such a case I'm rooting for Kovalainen and Kubica. I dislike Ferrari so much that I wish for even Toyota to win.
For me it's McLaren then BMW, the rest I couldn't care less.

If Kimi can do it, Lewis is capable too.
Yeah, BMW have made a big impression on me this season, the quality of Rob Kubica is amazing! I'm hoping for a McLaren or BMW win this season!

Last season he (Lewis) was mostly let down by the car, this year he is his own worse enemy. He is too prone to mistakes. If he does make at least the top three I'd be ecstatic!
Posted by aldrinus
seems to me that Lewis is kind of like a rookie still.. one amazing rookie season doesn't get you in the same league as the seasoned drivers.. great drivers are not made out of one amazing rookie season - its one race after every race
correct me if i'm wrong - jacques villenueve also did had an amazing rookie season (?) - but where is he now?
cheers to this suddenly "alive" very much interesting thread

Two weeks ago it was a BMW one two and today was Ferrari. McLaren one two next...? Once again my favourite driver (rookie) did his usual costing him a few places and points. Lewis needs to pull himself together, it's getting a tad boring and irritating. Every race since Monaco he has a mishap. Good performance from Kovalainen! Nice one for Toyota as well. Congratulations to *sigh* Ferrari.
Posted by Dups!
Well done to Lewis! Looks like he listened to what I wrote above
Posted by Caspa
superb, had me on the edge on my seat!
really showed his class, his pace was amazing on the slicks!
Posted by Dups!
Congratulations to my favourite F1 driver, Lewis! It is looking better now. Just a win in the next race then he will be comfortable.
Posted by Mulder7
Great drive by Lewis, but Massa was disappointing in that final stint especially when he was battling ahead of Lewis.

Monkey boy won in Germany then?
