i dont know, but id be hard pressed to think that SE paid HTC just to build a WinMo phone esp when SE has NO history with the WinMo architecture. Thats all im saying.

this is the HighEnd UIQ but ppl are talkin about the X1 so ... sorry to threadjack.

if you noticed, HTC phones are different depending on the brand (example HP HTC's are nothing like XDA HTC's)

Each manufaturer designs the phone, then HTC builds it.

thats obvious cuz HTC can never come up with such sexy design as the X1

Hi all,

Well from information now coming out about the P5/P200? it appears that yet again it is still using the Nexperia 208mhz chip even though it is running on UIQ.3.3 and is slightly faster.

Which as far as i have been able to gather yet again is going to mean no HSDPA which for a so called flagship device at the tail end of 2008 is quite unbelievable. I just don't get it SE's non smart phones get HSDPA yet their smart phones don't. To say i really can't see this new UIQ3.3 being a sought after model is a understatement and it certainly isn't moving UIQ to the top of the desired list either. Just how many Nexperia chips did SE buy? they must of run out of the original stocks by now and i can't believe they are still buying more of these now very outdated chips for their top end devices.

It's all very well those allegedly in the know saying there are lots of great new high spec devices in the roadmap, but just when are we the paying public going to see them?

Marc

While I would tend to agree with you, it's unknown whether the model in the latest round of pictures is the final version or not--it's most likely a very early prototype. For SE's sake I certainly hope it is. We'll know by the end of the month.

Hi all,

Well the guy that is giving us the pictures and information has now confirmed NO HSDPA, he also says that when he gets phones they are usually at the last stages of final production and only minor tweaks take place.

So if this really is the final spec's i am totally at a loss as to how SE could see people wanting to buy it. As whilst a 5 mega pixel camera and GPS is nice along with an improved and optimized OS with UIQ3.3 these really are not the upgrades we expected to see. I would of thought a faster processor and HSDPA would of been far better upgrades and enable it to compete better with the competition. Actually i really don't get why VodaFone would be interested in it and consider getting an exclusive period with it at launch as worthwhile either.

Really we can but hope that the reports so far are actually wrong and it does indeed come with the extra's we know of but with a faster processor and HSDPA.

Otherwise just who is going to want to buy it in late 2008?

Marc

when was the last time that a SE phone had such hard angular buttons?

Angular buttons are completly new for the company. But I'm sure X1 is 100% SE design.

There are 2 reasons:
1/ new brand + new phone = new design
2/ It's [b]X[b/]peria.

I love the X letter!!! ==>XPHCTOC

ps: Don't call it SE X1 nor SEX1 but "SEXI" lol (Xperia 2 = SEXII, Xperia 10 = SEXX)
