Hi Everyone!

I have been the proud new parent of a K800i for three or four days now, and have just stumbled upon your amazing forum... the tips and tricks section is wonderful so thanks to everyone who contributed there!

So far my joystick works perfectly, however it is something that regularly seems to start failing for others after a few months, so I'm looking for ways to avoid using it from the very beginning so that 1) it will perhaps prolong it's working period and 2) it wont be such an issue when it breaks.

Does anyone have any advice for getting around the phone without touching the joystick? I can bring up the main menu by pressing the my shortcuts arrow followed by the select key, and can easily select in the menu screen by pressing the corresponding key... I can then get to bookmarks by going to quicklinks and pressing 1... and can scroll through this menu using the little keys at the very top of the phone...

But at the moment I am struggling to use the word selector when writing a message without using the joystick, as well as being able to move my selection up and down in web pages, as well as in quicklinks?

Is anyone else attempting a similar thing?

Apologies if this has already been discussed before, I did a search and haven't been able to find this topic anywhere else...

Thanks everyone!

Good luck mate. I just got rid of my K800i after one month the joystick on mine was starting to not work properly into less than a month. I looked after mine too cleaning out dust everyday with a thinned out cotton bud and blowing into the joystick but it still failed. It also has a mind of its own you go to scroll down sideways when using Opera web browser and it presses down instead drives me mad. I could not be bothered to get it fixed so got a new phone. Good luck anyway sorry i have no other suggestions if SE ever make a joystick again people will go mad at them. Also i hated that phone cos it was so slow when browsing pictures.
