Hi,

Just had my k850i touch sensors die, I've tried taking the battery out for a bit, but they still don't work when I restart it.

Does anyone know if this is a hardware issue (ie. something has physically broke in my phone) or if it is a software issue which could be fixed by reflashing the firmware and a hard reset?

I suspect it will be the former and I'll have to send my phone in for repair again. Piece of crap.

Cheers for the help.

have you tried a master reset

I can't get to the blummin option in the settings menu cos the three buttons at the top arn't working.

Is that the reset you meant?

Hardware I guess. Check http://www.setool.net, go to General FAQ--last page (page 5). There is info about it. It's K850i keyflex problem. Is it your case? I think you're supposed to pay a visit to SE Service Centre.

New keyflex I guess.... crap. Thanks for the info though, at least I know what the problem is.

I don't know if I want to spend money on the davinci update again, what do you think the likely hood of this working is?

Otherwise I guess its another 3 weeks without my phone. I've only had it about 10 and 3 of those have already been at the service centre, can't believe I paid so much for this.

Do SE ever give out replacement phones if you get really angry about constant problems and not getting what you paid for?

i have updated mine through davinci a few teams and the first problem was the operation failed message on everything. It always fixed it. I use davinci cus i live in the US i cant wait 3 weeks without a phone

This happened to me, I think it's a hardware issue because I dropped my K850 and thats why it happened; also if it shook it a few times or held it upside down lol it the three touch sensitive buttons would sometimes work. Anyway, I contacted O2 and sent my phone back and they gave me a refurbished one, I've also looked around and it appears to be a common issue so you should take it to an SE service centre.

Cheers for the info. I'll send mine back on Monday... again.

@vee-m
Did they just repair your old phone or give you a new one?

How can the issue be the keyflex - with a crack in the solder contacts, when his phone was sent to them for the same reason before? Would we not think that SE fixed the issue prior by replacing the KeyFlex hardware or replacing the sub-mobo??

This tells me that either the contacts themselves are at fault - which again SE would have fixed; or that the user has something that is affecting it without even knowing it, maybe?? I've seen a similar post on another forum with the same situation sent into SE for a few times. So I have no clue whats going on.

Hoping third time is a charm. it also doesn't hurt to send a letter accompanying the phone requesting certain parts replacement that is covered under warranty anyway.

It takes a while to repair the phone so what they will do is send you one that someone else sent back maybe a month ago and they fix that one and will send it you. Somebody else who sends their phone back next month may get your phone in return. This is so we as customers don't end up being without a phone we have purchased for too long.
