Im off to O2 shop tomorrow to trade in my K800i for a new handset on pre pay. Its driving me insane this phone its getting slower and slower and the joystick its gettig worse its almost stopped working now i try getting rid of dust everyday but its useless. If SE ever make another joystick again i will write them a strongly worded letter. Looking forward to new phone but money is slightly tight till middle next month when i will get top phone.
Posted by PeterKay
what will they give you in a trade in?
Posted by Seanyb2
Well the O2 shop said 30 quid for K800i but it depends which phone you buy. I aint sure what im getting going to take my time and make a day of it. I will get some money off also with so much of my top ups back. Nice. I once went into O2 store and had no phone to trade in cos it was stolen. So i used a really old phone that was a spare lying around the house. To my shock they gave me 50 quid trade in for a very old Nokia 3100. Even the shop assistant was shocked what the system came up with.
Posted by Miss UK
Sean what was the old handset ??! can you remember?
I wonder how much i'd get for a 6100 lol
my mate has some really ancient 8310's and a 6600 lol
maybe you should have a look into the new
sliders?
some of them look pretty tasty

Ok, first of all, trading in a K800i is financial suicide.
Sell it privately, find the old, tattiest working phone you can find and take that as a trade in, then you'll double your money.
Posted by Seanyb2
The old phone was a Nokia 3100 it had no camera basic screen and buttons that glowed in the dark. I was shocked but i think the trade in price depends on what phone you go for. I actually quite like the W580i and S500i but i hear problems with the keys cracking and S500i on O2 comes in a horrid purple. Its tough right now cos im still waiting for my inheritance from my uncle in Ireland and i can buy any phone with that. Its 8,000 quid but i will only spend upto 500 on a mobile. Lol.
Posted by Miss UK
Does anyone know if vodafone do this aswell??!
good price with 02 never knw they do anything like that I would love to get shot of my e65 for something that works but I don't know how much i'd get back for it lmao! and I doubt i'd get a Wi-Fi phone for what they give me lol
Posted by Seanyb2
Yes Vodafone do trade ins. I read in their shop brochure about deals on their pre pay service for a trade in where you get 20 quid free credit as well. So im very much sure they will do trade ins on contract as they do it on pre pay. You should do it.
Posted by Miss UK
I'll respond to there last email then and see if they would let me have a exchange cos ive lost faith with that phone,
it works but I know it will go at fault again down the line lol
Posted by Seanyb2
I think most networks do trade ins they just require it to be able to make a call and send a text. Dont know why though cos they recycle them. Anyway good luck with that hope you get something decent. I remember last time i was on a Vodafone contract i had the W900i which was great so long ago now i no longer want a contract i hate them too easy to run up big bills and you have to wait too long to upgrade. With O2 pre pay i get something so much free stuff like 500 mins for 10 quid top up. Wow.
Posted by Seanyb2
I ran out of space on last post. As i was saying on O2 pre pay i get 500 mins for 10 quid per month top up plus 10% of top ups back every 3 months plus an extra treat each month and i always choose 50% off calls and texts to other networks. Great i dont need no more than that. Though i get through my mins talking to my Italian friend everyday. Ciao.

Pretty sure i read on HUKD that its £50 Trade for any old phone?

Ok, let me set the record straight here:
This is for O2 shops ONLY, not CPW, not P4U, just actual O2 shops.
So long as your trade in phone works reasonably (ie the screen is not broken or smashed, the casing is all on it, it's not about fall apart etc), then you will get your money off.
The money off does depend on the phone you're buying, but NOT the phone you are trading in! I got £50 off for an old BT Alcatel from BT Business thats over 16 years old, literally.
The AMMOUNT that you get for your phone will depend on how MUCH the phone is your buying.
Some phones have up to £50 trade in, others have either £10, £20 or £30 trade ins (there's no £40 trade in).
The more expensive the phone, the higher the trade in.
So for example, my phone. Nokia 5610. Was £179.99, £50 trade in made it a very reasonable £129.99 (obviously with the £10 top up on top it was £139.99).
And I'm not your bank manager or anything, but if you're Uncles giving you £8000 inherritence and your going to blow £500 of it on a 'good' phone, then to be perfectly honest, your pretty stupid. That kind of money is the kind of thing you save for one big purchase, like your first car, no pissing it away on some throw away phone. I'm guessing you like what, 15, 16, there abouts? I bet in a years time you'll have pissed it all away on little things and when you REALLY need it, you'll be kicking yourself.
Sorry, rant over, I hate it when young people waste money.
Posted by Seanyb2
No im 36 years old not 16. What my uncle is giving me i am treating myself to something nice then the rest im saving for my near future cos im planning on leaving Birmingham. I also dont drive a car its too expensive and i cant be bothered so there you are im not wasting it. I plan to make good use of it but treat myself to one nice thing. My ultimate phone. Bless my uncle wish i could thank him. Hope that answers your question.
Posted by Seanyb2
Oh by the way i forgot to say. I got a Nokia 6300. The reason being is it was the best one in my current price range and it is a great phone. I got 30 quid off phone altogether plus they did a special promotion in store and gave me 20 quid free top up credit. Nice bonus. Cant moan i only paid in all 46 quid for the phone. This Nokia is very reliable phone and its latest software too camera not good in low light but outdoors its not bad though i dont really care at the moment i just wanted something that works that K800i was so bad.

Ive not heard anything back from Vodafone yet I made a cracking emailer anyway to them
ive also said if this is acceptable whats the next Wi-Fi phone I could exspect to have at a reasonable price lmao! I don't want another phone unless it has this feature!
I would love a W960i I think it's cheaper for me in terms of crying to them about a N95 lol..
see what happens anyway,
they might just advise me to have the E65 fixed as usual
it's not even 4 months old yet lol
Sean nice choice of phone I hope it lasts your reliability!!!!

I remember back in the day when i used to have a Vodafone contract once or twice they let me upgrade early. What happened was they charged me a fee on my bill or i could pay with a card plus cost of new phone but it used to prove expensive. O2 used to do it to though i think both companies stopped doing it. Orange still do it i think early upgrades i think what happens is your paying the rest of your contract off to get a new phone but its just silly paying that much money. I once had a bill for over 500 quid just stupid not worth it just for a mobile. Better off going down sim free. Oh when i got my new phone today it had a scratch on the back and a dead pixel on the screen so i took it back and the this one is now fine. Obviously bad factory work. Great phone though so fast and easy to text with and the build quality is the most solid i ever seen. No data cable in the box though i think thats O2 the gits. Good job i got a card reader for the pc. Anyway good luck with your phone Miss UK. Love to know what your real name is.
Posted by Miss UK
it's Kerry
I don't wanna spend much on a new phone but cos my E65 is under 4 months im hoping they will look at that and do something worthwhile!
im just fed-up that the phones spent more time being fixed than it has me using it, ok so Nokia fix it in 48hrs but I can't be going down Brum every 2 weeks for it lmao!
it's a second phone the first had many probs and was replaced under the 14day warranty then I got the 2nd one 2weeks into using it switches of lol
Posted by Seanyb2
Well hello Kerry. Bad luck with that phone its such a pig when you sign up to a contract and all you get is something which does not work. Did you know i had a little bit of debt written off 2 years ago all gone now but the Citizens Advice said to me that mobile phone contracts are not worth the paper they are written on plus people who dont pay never get taken to court cos there worth nothing not in the way of law on their side. Anyway did i tell you i got a Scottish surname of Burns i say that cos you say your from up there. Sean Patrick Anthony Burns. Though my mothers was from posh part of Dublin called Dalkey. Nice place Bono lives near there too i seen his house. Anyway im going off subject again. LOL. God i keep getting carried away. Good luck with that phone let me know what happens.

Ok, first of all, I appologize for how I sounded earlier, bad time of the day for me and I see so many kids waste money like that that I kinda jumped to conclusions, so I'm very sorry
Secondly, it's not just O2 that don't offer data cables, from what I'm aware it's not part of the sales package. But it's MiniUSB, so you don't really need one, their like £1 from Poundland lol.
As for the law, I can swear on many things that yes, they are worth the paper they're printed on and yes, they will do whatever they can to claim back money.
One of my friends was having severe money troubles and couldn't pay his 18 month O2 contract about 3 months into it. He kept not paying the bills and they got bigger and bigger, they cut him off after the first month, sent several demands before finally, two burly blokes turned up, unannounced, on his doorstep (with ID, obviously) saying they've come on behalf of O2, gave him a little card with his details written on it and said if he didn't pay the money back he owed them week by week (in little bits) then they'd come back and start taking things.
This scared the shit out of him and he began paying for it with his job seekers allowance, and since then he's got a job and paid it all off.
So it can happen.
Posted by Seanyb2
Its cool its ok i understand my brother has 4 kids i never plan to marry or have any i value my freedom too much. Anyway dont worry i know what you mean when people say have won the lottery and they completely blow it all on god knows what normally things they dont even need. And kids yes they do waste money and i have done so myself. We all live and learn. Spend a little save a little my mother used to say. I was also saying i had a friend who never paid 600 quid on her vodafone contract and they just gave up and never persued it but its on her name now. Oh and im getting that inheritance in late spring from Ireland. I then plan to use most of it to move perhaps up north somewhere quieter and get a job.
Posted by Seanyb2
I forgot to say about data cables. Some shops want you to buy them from their stores so you spend more. Though i got a card reader and my god its faster than the data cable. I transfered all of U2s albums to my mobile in couple of mins. What i hate is SE Disc to Phone software. God how slow is that software.

Companys should refuse people who are on benefits these leisure activities anyway, im seeking work I didn't exspect Vodafone to sign me upto a contract with them and I was worried about this when I left 02 cos I though until I had a supportive job i'd be stuck to them..
Surprisingley Voda didn't mind that I was outta work,
I bet if you were not working what were the chances of getting a loan?
Lloyds TSB offered me one weeks ago
it so shocking how these companys don't care at the prospects which you are in Sorry if I sound like a Finance Geek lol
I would love a Job advising people about Debt
I need a contract cos the exspense of Topping £40 per month is a waste of my money
My Mobile world sim I top it up about every 2 years
Still no email from Vodafone,
although I think they've been phoning me up every day this week about this phone related issue I just haven't took the call
last time they rang me they extended my contract and when they went to take the cash out they couldn't and without phoning me to ask what was going on they blocked my phone,
I wasn't happy and phoned them up and made them read back my banking details till now everythings ok!
I had my phone activated for international calls the other day no questions asked Voda done this, they offered me insurance and stop the clock for £11 added per month and I said no, if you ain't persist with these people and let them take you for a mug then your mistaken!
I hope they get back to me on that phone,
i'd kindley exchange both my phones E65 and N80 for a newer handset anyway fingers crossed they will consider this
Sean, im also 30 this year there are alot of kiddies here but you need to try and advise them carefully
Posted by Seanyb2
My gosh you wrote a long story there that was interesting. Wow. I worry about contracts but its nice to have one. Im working now as a Security Guard got out of hotel industry rubbish pay even as a Duty Manager that i was. Anyway my credit status is poor but i have no debts now but Orange still offered me a contract i passed their checks but i said no in the end. Tempted though. And as regards to kids i love my nieces and nephews but none of my own and i do love kids. Lol i dont plan to get married but will have relationships. Anyway back to mobiles erm when i get that inheritance i would love to get a phone with wi fi too would love N95 8 giga byte. I tried one in Vodafone shop as it was on display and its fab. Its alot faster too than the N73 i used to have. Great phone. Or maybe a SE with wi fi but NO JOYSTICK. Lol.
Posted by Daedalus85
Consider the N82, seems like a better phone overall, better camera, real camera flash, expandable memory and cheaper and more durable, and possibly longer battery too.
Posted by larry 68
Not all companys are rushing to give credit, I'm with o2 but was knocked back for a contract a while back , I guess thats because I have no credit rating based on the fact I had nothing on credit, no debts no loans, nada but plenty of cash in the bank, grrrr makes me cross that people in debt can get more based on debt ratings .
I'm on a 2yr one now, would i need to keep my phone for the full 2 yrs before upgrading on o2 or can it be done earlier ??? (you can guess this is my 1st contract phone)
Posted by Seanyb2
Actually oddly enough i forgot about the N82. I read a review of it in What Mobile magazine and they took pictures with it in Paris at night and the pictures were amazingly noise free and very crisp. But i did read that the processer is slower in favour of better battery but i dont know for sure im sure though thats what i read. Great phone though one i would consider. I have not had a SE Smartphone since P990i on Vodafone a long time ago. Will see what comes up in near future but i dont wanna buy a phone when its new as i cant be dealing with all the software bugs i dont have patience for it. Nor do i have the net at home im always on this site using my Opera browser on my phone. Will be buying laptop soon though and getting plug in internet thing on 3. Cant wait.
Posted by Seanyb2
Sorry larry68 i forgot to reply to you. With a 2 year contract you will not be able to get another phone yet with them unless they still do that early upgrade thing but you will pay a heavy price. Worth asking them. O2 said they would give me a contract if i gave them 150 pound deposit. Dear god no way. That was one of my bad debts years back an O2 contract i owed them alot of money thats why.
Posted by larry 68
Had to get mine in my sisters name , she's a budding shop a holic and pants with money but obviously more credit worth than me, pah, only had my k850i a few months so will be keeping a while, was just curious as to possibility.
Posted by Daedalus85
You can upgrade after 23 months, unless it's a business contract in which case it's once a year.
And all you have to do to improove your credit it get a credit card, activate it, spend like £1 on it, pay it off, then keep it in a drawer and never use it again. Should help your credit.
I got an Orange contract with no deposit or referral on the day of my 18th birthday, and I'd been 18 for all of about 3 hours lol.
Posted by larry 68
It's annoying to have to get a credit card when I dont need one, just because I pay cash, wont be offered a credit card soon either coz banks dont like people who pay it off in one go . lol
Why no credit rating when I've had same bank account with money in for 20 yrs and thats the one I gave o2.
wow only another 19 months to go before upgrade then
better stop looking at the market threads, as some of you guys swap so often it was kinda catching
Posted by Daedalus85
Well, you need to show them that your capable of paying money off once you've borrowed it, hence the whole idea of a credit rating.
Don't you have a debit card? I mean you can't pay for EVERYTHING with cash surely? A debit card (ie not an Electron or Solo) will help.
And if you want a phone contract that badly, you'd take out the credit card lol
Posted by larry 68
Like I said, dont need a credit card, I have a husband for that
Yep had a debit card for ever too.
Posted by Daedalus85
Well, either way, you got your contract now
I never said use the credit card, just bung one thing on there for a couple of quid, pay it off right away and then never use it again, simple as really. Doesn't really count as 'using' it as in regularly.

Hang on there,
check your credit card don't throw it in the drawer because they add insurance even though you don't want it !
I took out a Catalogue with Look Again like 10 years ago and my mother cranked up the credit on it for me, so ive got a very good rating due to that!
I don't think ive ever been refuses anything,
I just think it's sad that companys offer you stuff even though you ain't working!
ive seen alot of biased topics on that Nokia N82 here
Sorry Sean to write my life story back there lmao!
best way to get a good cred rating would be to take out a catalog and keep up all the payments, don't take a credit card as it's money on a plate lol
Posted by Daedalus85
Well, I've never had 'hidden' insurance on my two credit cards, and I tend to think catalouges are more of a rip off because of the high interest rate
Posted by larry 68
@Daedalus85,Thanks for the o2 info,
he who must be obeyed wont let me have a CC anyway , maybe scarred I'll buy too many gadgets Lol
Going back to the tread I hijacked, (sorry) is 6300 not considered a downgrade on K800 ? inferior camera and I know its only a stop gap but the battery on them is pants, we use them at work and I get constant complaints from collegues that the battery wont last the day out. More and more often I'm being asked to order in car chargers because of it.
Posted by Miss UK
Mine had Payment protection cover £3.62 pcm
and some lousy insurance when I had it..
you have to watch them there buggers Mbna
home catalogues are crap now cos there loosing out cos
of internet sales, but there a good way to get credit!

Miss UK good evening. Dont worry no need to say sorry for that long story i dont mind i am someone who loves to chat alot and have a good laugh. I just love to chat about anything and everything. Im always chatting for upto 3 hours sometimes with my Italian lady friend though sometimes i cant get a word in edge ways. I used to work with her at the hotel but no she is not my woman though there is a good solid friendship there which is good basis for a relationship. As for credit i used to have a loan of 7,000 with HSBC a credit card a debit one with over draft a catalogue 2 phone contracts and i went bankrupt. Though there is no assets involved and i have now been discharged from it so will never have to pay it back but its on my name for another 2 years. I learnt big time from it i now feel free with big weight from my shoulders but will never get into debt again. Life is now good but there is still something missing. WHERE I WANT TO LIVE. Anyway i think this thread should be in the general chat forum its turning into something else. As for my Nokia 6300 i know someone with one and they have no complaints about the battery with moderate use its around 2 days but for me thats ok. It mostly dies quickly when using the internet. This phone wont be for long though when i get my ultimate one i will keep this as spare. Im happy with the call quailty though its so loud better than the K800i im very fussy about call quality as really at the end of the day its what we use a phone for and i hate it when someone cant hear me.
