What do you think about this noblest 3G Phone, Vertu Ti, which built around a hand made nature of titanium chassis with elegant package?

The T9 patented keypad with floodlit is an engineering masterpiece. It shows the dramatic effect at night.

cheap chinese copycat

Posted by fatreg
I have to disagree Boba..

the IMEI sticker looks like that of a Vertu, also, the phone and IMEI sticker both have serial numbers...

Very much the same way the ascent has a serial number on the battery cover and the same one on the inside of the phone..

Anyone want to buy me a vertu?

Posted by fatreg
need to buy myself one first, very foolishly sold my Ascent

Posted by jackdaniels
The only thing that looks different are the chinese characters on the keypad, the boxes all looks the same

Of which we busted a gut to get revamped!

Posted by fatreg
yeah because it was unusable to me before that!! although no BB messenger on a Vertu....

Posted by Daedalus85
Surely no ANYTHING on a Vertu

For all the money it costs, you think a few worthwhile tweaks here and there, like S60 for a start, would help.

Personally I imagine people with that much money are wealthy business people anyway and would either rather have their BB or have something capable of doing some smartphone style features.

Posted by jackdaniels
No they will just carry both

Posted by haynesycop
Oh that is fit! * picks jaw of desk *

Posted by fatreg
the kind of people that use Vertus, only make and receive calls and SMS...

why use S60 when S40 does the trick? IMO there is no need for a cam on it, a phone is a phone that makes calls end of, that's what Vertu aim for, they don't want an all singing, all dancing phone, that's just not a Vertu, they don't do convergence, if you want mobile music you buy an MP3 player, if you want a camera, you buy a digi cam.

owning a Vertu is a statement, it's an accessory.

A Vertu is the greatest instrument you will ever own.

Until you've owned a Vertu you can't knock them, they work, they are functional, they are a masterpiece to look at and hold.

/want's a Vertu again!

I use a Ti purely for calls and texting. I have an iPhone for surfing and email and music etc during the day. Its more for the design and usability than features. People don't have a kitchen in a Ferrari, the car drives best; and the kitchen is for cooking!

Fatreg I have a constellation for sale if your interested? Its much better than the ascent btw.

A Vertu is the greatest instrument you will ever own. - Are you sure you dont mean Blackberry

Until you've owned a Blackberry you can't knock them, they work, they are functional, they are a masterpiece to look at and hold.

Slight edit for you kind Sir

Thats kind of depressing, but I guess if some people will insist on paying for it.

It's like Nokia's 8xxx series, I still don't get why people are dumb enough to pay for it. I find the build quality of the 6300 to be superior to that of the 8800SE, and I've handled several of both.

Posted by fatreg
Believe me when I say that a Vertu literally wipes the floor with an 8800, 8800se, 8800 Sirocco, 8600 Luna, as for the 6300.. it has plastic for start so barely even enters the race....

The Ascent I had was solid, heavy, key presses were bang on, and it just worked..

As depressing as it maybe, It was my dream to own a Vertu since I first heard they were going to make them back in 2002, it took my 5 years to realise my dream but I got there (with much thanks to tbag) and I have to say I wouldn't have had it any other way, any preconceptions you may have about a phone that costs upwards of £1k to buy are dumfounded when you actually hold and use a Vertu.

As I've said it's an accessory, it's an object of desire. Yes you can buy a phone for £50 that does more than a Vertu, but you can buy a watch for £20 from argos that will do the same if not more than a £12K Rolex, yes people still buy the Rolex. Sure Vertu could make a sub £500 phone that would sell bucket loads, but why do it? you'd flush the market with them and push the 8800s out the way, Vertu are catering for a very small niche in the market and they do it bloody well...

People buy the 8800 as they want to appear to be of a social ranking, it's a mindset built into certain individuals, you ought to have seen some of the faces when people thought they were big time with there 8800se, until they realised I was either on a Serene or Vertu.

It's a sad world we live in, and I unfortunately am very brand driven, it's been instilled in me from a young age that you always have to have the best, you get what you pay for if you will.. and in my 24 years of existence, it's yet to prove me wrong.

I hate the way people say you are dumb for buying a 8 series phone. Why are you dumb?? So what if you do not need a phone that can browse the internet via wifi or via HSPDA. So what if you can't take 5mpx shots. Some people just want a phone that works and never has to reboot to improve performance.

I am very similar to Fatreg in that as soon as i heard about the Vertu range i wanted one and not the signature versions the Ascent model as i felt they looked nicer. Some say wisely, i decided against buying one and instead bought 12-14 phones a year but they were just not the same. I have now bought my first Vertu and so i am 'Dumb enough' to do that but its what i want from a phone. I know that Vertu will not downgrade their brand by trying to cater for everyone so i know i have made an investment. I always have 2 phones with me anyway so if i do need to do other things i can use my N95 or my E90.

Fair doo's, each to their own and all that.

It's funny, my Dad has always tried to instil the same phillosophy on me, of 'you get what you pay for, so buy the best', but because obviously I have far, far less money than him, alot of stuff that I own that weren't gifts are often cheap and do the job. Unless it's something really important to me. And I'm a born bargin hunter (I can blame my Grandma for that lol) so I'll always look for the cheapest price, no matter what!

I guess I just believe in getting back what you pay for in features. Personally, I'd rather sacrifice the occasional squeak or creak here and there for higher features that I will use, but some people like you said don't need all that. Still, I feel like you should get something back from that multi-thousand-pound investment.

Either way, each to your own

And 24? Your only 24? Wow, I always figured you were way older than that, I guess I don't feel quite so young any more (your only 18 months older than me!)

Constellation would prob be the best...

1) Its the cheapest out of the range at £2700 new.
2) It has the major functionality of all the range (minus a camera etc)
3) Nicest size and weight having owned all of them.

However Ascents are the most commonly sold/owned. Saying that I am in Mayfair and I prob see 10 a year so its nice for not many people to have them!!

For those even writing numbers like 8600 and 6300...STOP WASTING YOUT TIME!!! Its like Jeremy Clarkson comparing a common Ford Focus with a Mercedes McClaren SLR!!! They are miles apart for various reasons.

Posted by fatreg
Only recently 24 too (bloody closer to 30 than I am to 18 now, not impressed!)

each to their own indeed, which is a good job, or we'd all want the same thing in life, and that would be no fun!

As they say, it's the small things in life!

We agree on one thing though! BB! you want to cure the itch now! good person, they are wicked (it's what I sold my Vertu and went onto, and I've yet to want to go elsewhere)

@ Se-Naz... The constellation and Vertu Ti are the newest Vertus, they have too many gimmicks for me though, a Vertu to me, is just a phone that makes calls and texts, which is all the most expensive one does, Vertu Signature, As for a first Vertu, I would suggest an Ascent, but others would say Constellation and Ascent Ti, ultimately it's up to you!

It's the small things indeed that make a Vertu, it's not a phone book, it's a directory, etc...

/feels like a Vertu salesman!!

Posted by SE-Naz

don't lose it!!

also be aware that insurance companies won't touch it. it's too much an expensive object (that are prone to being lost, stolen, damaged) to even try and insure it.

Posted by SE-Naz
How about contract???

Cheers
ENJOY

Posted by JiggyJaggy
They are not available on contract. nor will they be. Vertu have a contract to sell the item as a luxury product, not a tellcomms device for network implementation. They thrive on customers using one phone with their own sim for global useage.

Posted by SE-Naz
Cheers for that... any links with further info???

How much for the Ascent TI???

Cheers
ENJOY

The Ti is £3,600. I got mine covered on my home insurance and reasonable price considering how much i would pay to replace it.
