Battery life is the thing that concerns me about this one.

q3 release!

not only with long releases

sorry, had to add that one! lol!

ahhh, i dont like the n81 design

Posted by sambouka
It has

" 16GB of internal flash memory and a microSD memory card slot with support for cards up to 16GB mean you'll never run out of space for photos, music, and games."

not 16 MB !

Seems it's the trend now... Why not on X1 ?

Posted by Trev1982

This phone looks amazing. How does dvb-h work? Is it over the network or like an ordinary tv getting a signal?

nice, quite nice design and use of gaming/multimedia back lighting - differing ,,
but yeah talk time - ill run it dry on gsm - i talk to my friends/girlfriend 4+ hours some nights..
shizzle battery life..pity,they havent learnt from n95
oh wait they'll make it better on the n96 32gb
still you gotta love the design - not sure about the size either

And it's a big meh from me. The N95 was at least innovative, this is just more of the same.

I'd have thought they'd be announcing some Touch models by now?

Posted by olliem
Thing is the N95 was so revolutionary with it's features you can't really expect this one to manage the same. Surely there aren't enough features left that haven't been put on already??

Posted by wrecked_porsche
Touch screen and built in FM transmitter perhaps?

But yeah, the current specs are awesome, pretty feature packed!

Posted by Wuz
I have to say this phone looks absolutely fantastic.

Posted by Miss UK
it's a N81 though

nice big memory I think nokia are trying to compete with the iPhone

Posted by gola
just perfect

Posted by Falcon786
I wouldn't say perfect.it's far from perfect.same pitfalls as n95 it's too big doesn't have high enough screen res and main problem the battery life is gonna suck.i swear my n95 battery got me in a few sticky situations you gotta limit phone usage or suffer.but none the less brilliant specs...Dvb-h plus gps(hopefully decent one like 6110,n95 nav is crap)and excellent 5mp cam,16gb mem...what else can they really put on phones?

Live pictures

very nice!!

Posted by Superluminova
The is the first n-series phone i want, its just looks awesome and has the specs to match it!

Posted by nicv27
Excellent phone i like it even better than my n95 and the n95 8gb, with 16gb memory and a micro sd slot for up to another 8gb looks like i might have to retire my video ipod

Posted by YnG
I would be interested in this phone but once again the battery life is not even close to what it should be.

Posted by NightBlade
Honestly, I have NO idea how I'd ever be able to fill up 16GB of space on a phone.

Posted by mariozlp
Samsung has nice and good phones now, SE and Nokia should worry.

16 MB or GB? it says MB. but i think correct is GB

Posted by Dart5
Looks a great phone, real shame they didn't put a Xenon flash on it though. Otherwise very impressed.

Posted by djin
they shud have changed the design!!! its just like n overgrown n81!!!

Posted by technical-expert
The Following is the difference i see between n95 8gb and n96 16gb

Tilt Stand to watch movies
3.5mm jack moved on to top
Slimmer than 3mm (21 vss 18mm)
Dvb-h Broadcast television
16gb of memory
Memory card slot
Nokia maps 2.0
Geo-tagging for photos

Although very slight improvements

they should have put touchscreen on it. great phone

Posted by BobaFett
as i mentioend it in another thread, this design reminds more ona s40 device... seems they are a bit out of ideas atm

Posted by kenoby
Only idea they had is to put everything in one device and tag it pricey. Very innovative.. Talking about N series from the first N95.

Posted by olliem
Think it'll be interesting to see how well the DVB-H works. Wonder how strong the signal needs to be for it to get reception.

Posted by jakontil
do we have to pay or subscribe for the DVB-H channels?

Posted by batesie
DVB-H stands for Digital Video Broadcasting - Handheld

this works in a similar way to your regular freeview setup. (ie. free)

the one that i'm looking forward to seeing is DVB-SH which stands for Satellite Handheld...

EDIT: heres some valuable information....

Posted by BobaFett

Posted by olliem
Really?? That's good news. The sooner the better in my opinion... Thanks for replying.

Posted by se_dude
nopes..clearly stated in the press release..all phones will be availabel in q3

Posted by JiSm
Could Symbian handle all that memory?! I know when the 8gb N95 gets near full its a DOG! Imagine 16gb nearly full and juggling a Micro SD too? On paper its a definate monster but will it perform? I know Orange is gettin it and I will be runnin it through its paces before I start sellin it

Posted by kevinwilliam
Really liked it. I think this will perform better than Nokia N95

Just in case any of you missed it. Just a few minutes ago a scammer posted the following in a topic here on Esato.

Nokia N96 features a 6 megapixel camera. The device has a 3.2 inch, 16 M colours TFT display. It has 10 GB of internal memory. The device weighs 115 gm and measures 102.5 x 56 x 17.6 mm. The handset has support for touchscreen and joystick navigation. Its integrated GPS displays maps of more than 100 countries. The device also has support for EDGE, Bluetooth and HSDPA connectivity.

The Nokia N96 slider phone has a unique design. It has two keypads that open up on opposite sides of the handset. The device can be slide opened either in upward or downward direction. One can gain access to its QWERTY keyboard by slide opening the handset in upward direction. When one moves its display downwards, it reveals another keypad that features a set of multimedia controls. One can also gain access to its navigation and shortcut keys even when the device lies in its slide closed position.

Does he honestly believe members of a mobile phone forum won't know the N96 specs?! Anyway I found it hilarious.

i've been told using the DVB-h tuner you can record your favorite show's, while phone is in standby, and view 'm later with the video-out cable

Yeah, apparently it has touch screen too. Well if its a touch screen, it must be the world's least responsive one! Its just as responsive as my W910i's "touchscreen".....

Hi all,

In my latest CNET Newsletter it seems the UK network 3 is going to having the N96 available from September as can be seen here.

http://crave.cnet.co.uk/mobiles/0,39029453,49298262-3,00.htm

This along with the E71 and some other top end devices seems to be the direction 3 are now taking. So it looks like we will be able to get some good deals on some top end phones by maybe swapping to 3 along with their great data deals.

Marc

Do think any network will have it before October

N96 launch delayed until October
