Mine is being delivered today - i'll let you know. Usally o2 branding only consists of startup logo and wallpaper. I heard that the google panel is replaced with an o2 one - but this can be switched back.
However small the branding is tho, i'll still move to generic as soon as i can...

Just got mine on monday. Is it just me or does the battery run out in just a day?
Email every 60 minutes, some music, very few calls and it's down to 30% by the evening. Strangely, there is no battery icon on taskbar. It seems, that the device has been tampered in store, because i found a few references to TouchFlo in system files.

The X1 uses HTC's TouchFlo kinetic scrolling. Those TouchFlo folders are supposed to be there (TouchFlo 3D GUI is a different thing).
As far as your battery life...do you have the auto-dimming feature of the screen turned-on? Are you getting good reception? Do you have some poorly written software that hogs CPU (therefore sapping the battery power?)

OK, that clears it up, i was about to go and do some drama at the store.
Auto-dim is on. I always click power for standby, when i'm not using it, works as key lock also.
I haven't yet installed too much stuff. CorePlayer, Regedit, TomTom, Remote Desktop, Barcode reader. Usually only Opera and Messaging/Outlook running on backgrond. When not using anything specific, i default to Today panel.

DHL guy turned in an hour ago... So: O2 branding - YES. Unfortunately. TWO (!!!) branded unremovable panels on the main screen, one with a sort of O2 Today Page, basically simmilar to M$ but different shade of blue and then the middle panel - it's full of O2 links. I don't really like it, and my little toy will probably get a de-branding reflash soon...

You'll most probably have to put HardSPL on your device before flashing it with an unbranded ROM (or any other ROM which does not match the original SPL of your device).
The guys at xda-dev seem to be working on a first release of HardSPL for X1, but it isn't out yet.

Just phoned O2, the X1 is showing as in stock on their website yet according to the person in retentions it is out of stock for a week. Sounds fishy to me, I've been waiting for this phone over 3 months now! Are new customers being given preferential treatment over us oldies?

Yep, on my X1 the TouchFLO folders actually contain just two wav files which HTC had used when kinetic scrolling was active. It's not the TouchFLO3D interface --- for that, go to the XDA forums.

I installed the WinMo Fring client on my Xperia, and had it working for a day.
Then I tried to launch it from the icon and it wouldn't load, or even post any error messages.
If I browse to Program Files/Fring and launch Fring.exe I get an error message that says 'fring' is not a valid Pocket PC application.
I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling from the cab, from the computer, through ActiveSync, and nothing works - same error every time.
Do you guys have any suggestions?

Hi, im seeking advice!
I've got 3months remaining on my current o2 uk contract.
O2 have said you cannnot upgrade until the 17th month...however I'm after the X1 now.
Anyway to twist their arm for an early upgrade.
Atm I am going to be forced to cancel my contract -> pay £125 fee. Then get a new o2 contract with a free X1...ridiculous i know but i need win mob for work.
Any ideas much appreciated. (except "wait")

Wait man! I've been waiting 4 months for this phone, my contract ended way back in June! O2 still can't process my order because the X1 is out of stock apparently, so I may well have to wait until the 17th myself!

Can anyone give me a comparison between the camera on the P1i and the one on the Xperia X1? The macro results on the P1i are especially satisfying, better than the N95 and any mobile phone I have used to date - does the X1 compare?

You really should have kept that comment to yourself. The resolution of a camera has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the photos it produces.

If you only want a big megapixel camera then buy a digital camera or the C905 but with mobile phones like X1, its not that important if it has a big megapixel e.g. 8mp, what is important is that it can show a better picture quality and video.

In Comm Manager, activate wifi and then go to the right menu (Settings) and select wireless.
There you have plenty of options which seems to work well for finding and managing wifi networks.

I Keep hearing this statement get destroyed many times over in so many threads in so many forums related to smartphones.
* K800/K790a same arguement lived for some time and disproven when quality pics debuted; then after its successory proven.
* K850i same arguement lived for some time and died.
These are just 2 mentioned on these threads - regardless of the sensor & hype used same thing for & against.
I respect you're opinion Mizzle but you must understand those of us that have been on the forums longer than you here have read & participated much and seen it go around the mulberry bush just on this topic. So I'm curious how does the bright sunny day, low light/night portrait/landscape, and pure darkness with LED pictures compare to that of the Nokia N82 ?? I'm choosing this not because of it being picked as best picture phone of '08 by some industry but because it has proven many times in many threads the quality of all these ranges to be better than the K850i - a phone I've personally owned and 80% of the time found pics in the scenarios I've requested to be better in my old W810i.
has dawned into a powerful age of the smartphone and will gain marketshare with this device without a doubt if Nokia's main rival the E90 replacement doesn't debut. I would've almost returned to Xperia if it were not for the keyboard which I'll have to try myself and the exhortation pricing in my countries dollars .... $1345CAN (this because for the past 30 days the dollar here dropped 40% and finally gained back to equal out to 7% below what it has been for the past 2yrs vs the USA dollar just south of the border.
My main concern are 3 major things that I hope someone open minded will help me with.
1. Triband 3G. In Canada I'll need the 850Mhz/1900Mhz combination. Many ppl in my city are having issues with the N85 or Xperia X1i on 1900Mhz where no 3G is connected. Does the X1i not have 1900Mhz on HSPA?! If so then why are screenshots from a few ppl just 15pages back showing non-valid bands, and 1900Mhz yet its now working in Canada?
2. Keyboard. Is it really as slippery as it looks? Those keys look like polished metal and I'm concerned over the typing speed, as the travel.
3. Is this phone supporting WiFi in the following:
- WPA PSK 2 (AES or ?) for Consumer and Enterprise?
(Enterprise for WPA2 security is not just SSID hidden or encrypted but also specifies a user id & pw - not browser based like schools or hotels).
- Ad Hoc and is there an app like Joiku Spot Light to use the providers 3G APN connection over the devices WLAN so it can be a WiFi router?
- UPnP so I can host it as a drive to my PS3?
Thanks.
P.S. Canada does not use 3G on AWS spectrum yet. providers just got those AWS spectrum in an auction just 2-3mths ago and will take about 2-3yrs to complete.

Does anyone know if the X1 works with both the Sony Ericsson MBW-100 and MBW-150 Bluetooth watches?
I would imagine it should with the MBW-150 but I'm not sure about the MBW-100.
If anyone who owns an X1 and one of the watches could you please let me know.
Thanks.

I Keep hearing this statement get destroyed many times over in so many threads in so many forums related to smartphones.
Why not visit a pro photography forum and get a definitive explanation there ? Then, explain to us all HOW picture quality improves with more megapixels. Skill, lighting, stabilization and lens quality are far bigger factors in pic quality.
Posted by myth®
Add sensor size & quality, image processing hard & software, etc.
Some photographers are stating that the image quality is being determined by the 'weakest part in this chain'.
And that's why a pic taken by a dedicated 1.3 mp digicam easily beats that of a 3 or 5 mp phone camera in every aspect.
I'm not a pro btw, but it doesn't take a genius to get a rough idea of what pic quality depends on.
If you ask me, it's the 'man, this phone (or camera) sucks because it has only X mp' thing, which has to be destroyed in consumers minds.
