It's very nice, isn't it?

Posted by yea g
O man that looks so cool!

Posted by mobman
i'm loving this by the way - its like i'm there with masseur - i'm very eager to find out what he thinks of it...

Posted by masseur
I definitely prefer the silver
just waiting for the sync to finish... then on to install my basics and then get working with it

Posted by yea g
So...
iPhone or X1??

Posted by mobman
could you please do a side by side pic with the iphone? the x1 seems smaller than i imagined...

Posted by alexho
I was being told by CPW my X1 won't be arrive on monday but actually i placed my order on thursday. I am getting a bit annoy now as other member can get the phone on saturday but I have to wait longer!

It really is! Have a look at this:

Posted by yea g
wow! I'm holding my k610 now, cant beleive a phone as powerful as the x1 would be so small

Posted by masseur
while having the iphone I've had the TyTN II and the Diamond so I have no hesitation to say iphone AND X1. you just can't beat the iphone for entertainment value

@mobman

Hey masseur,

Does it come with a free 4GB microSD card?

nice pics, btw..
love to see more

Posted by mobman
i'm afraid i've always been monogamous when it comes to phones - i'm traditional like that

i had a good long think about the iphone but just think its missing too much to be "the one". It does seem like a bit of fun - but not the one i'd like to settle down with...

Posted by yea g
Don't forget its Joseph's birthday on monday

Posted by masseur
@YouZi, no free memory cards included but I'm glad because if there were, it would just be removed and replaced by my 16gb card anyway

Hi masseur,

easy questions, is the software that you used on the TyTnII imei dependent?

In other words, will you need to contact the software company to egt a new registration code?

I think I read that you will not install all as before but I cant find where,

I am thinking X1, HTC Touch HD or BB Storm, and I know I don;t use the keyboard on my TyTnII.

So I am interested to know how the keyboard of the X1 feels for you.

Thanks !

Ofiaich

WM software is generally keyed by owner name rather than IMEI and so all my software that I have used since way back when installs fine on the X1 as long as I set the owner name the same, and since thats my first name thats easy!

so far I'm happy to report that all the preinstalled panels are quick and yes, the keyboard is very easy to use, probably easier than on the TyTN II actually

Posted by zootzoot
Hi does the phone come with blackberry connect installed or on cd.

thanks

Posted by Jah
Congrats Masseur. From what I can from other forums like xperiax1.net you were the first person to receive your X1!

I have checked forums all around the net for tweaks or other ways to get BB Connect for WM 6.1 to work with the X1 (have borrowed an X1 for the week-end). Whatever I try I can't make it work!

Anyone that has been successful?

If not then it's bye bye X1 and hello Blackberry Bold (I have no choice but to use BES).

Hoping for the best.

Posted by molecule
Massuer congrats on the new phone! As you are officially having the retail version of X1 how about the most controversial question "how much RAM" does it show!

Also u think the silver is better than the black eh?

It doesn't come with BB Connect, neither pre-installed nor on a CD.
I talked to SE support and they said they plain and simple don't support BB Connect on this device.

Thanks ! That's very helpful. Upgrade date 8th November so I can see what Voda has to offer as well as checking the X1.

Congrat. on your new phone masseur. This is nice to hear cause my main fear was that x1 is sluggish. Eagerly waiting for further impresions. For now I would like to hear about ms word speed, specially typing speed while phone is put on desk (laptop simulation )

I can just add to Masseurs statement about the X1, it's a great build quality and with a nice keyboard and display.

However, as long as they don't support BB Connect they will lose a number of business users. Too bad...

Posted by masseur
@molecule, just like Swedish ones, and yep, the build quality is excellent and has a solid quality feel. I wish I had tried the touch pro to compare with as having had the diamond, it is bigger than I would now like my WM device to be, but Ill get used to it and it definitely a huge improvement on the TyTN II

Posted by Trev1982
So how is it, ???

i played with a demo model in CPW because there was a rep in, it was cool to play with but only got ten mins, im o tempted but dont like WM, so some positive feedback will encourage me to purchase

Posted by max_wedge
So has it really got 256MB or 384MB? Maybe there's another 128 hidden somewhere....(ducks various phones thrown in general direction..)

Posted by norti
People, try to forget the memory queston. It has 256 MB and no other "hidden" 128. You won't buy the X1 just because it has "only" 256 MB ram? So childish...

BTW: the X1 will be available in Hungary regarding to SE Store in the first weeks of November. Maybe we will get another accented character keyboard version here

For us American users (which as far as I remember seems to be just myself and WhyBe ), I've taken a gamble and placed an order with clove.co.uk since they are claiming to have the phone in stock.
Hopefully I get the damn thing; if I have luck I'll let you know These international orders always worry me! Anyone in the UK get theirs from Clove? I wanted to confirm they really are totally unlocked-unbranded...

Posted by Merlyn101
@Masseur
Where did you order your X1 from? The silver looks great and Vodaphone are only doing black?

Posted by masseur
In general I'd say the X1 with panels is quicker than the diamond with touch flo and the finger use of the X1 works really well.

opening panels is very quick but I have to say pressing the X panel key to go back to the panel selection window is slower than I would like from the calendar panel, but from other panels its ok.

other than that its really hard to differentiate it from any other WM device apart from its styling of course

edit: @Merlyn101, it came from CPW tele sales

@norti
max was just joking.

@matthewf01
I think there may be a few others here from the U.S., but just a handful though

Posted by Trev1982
@Masseur
So un-riddle this: do you need a stylus for on-screen text entry, or did they add some finger friendly input panel?

I was being sarcastic... and YOU took the bait

Posted by masseur
@Trev1982, the standard virtual keyboard is not as good as you get on the diamond and is a tad small for large fingers, as you can see, and the other input options are standard WM, but you do have the physical keyboard of course

Posted by Merlyn101
Hmmm! X1 or Touch Pro. Have to say the X1 is winning at the mo- purely from an aesthetic point of view and screen goodness! Would love to see a comparison if anyone has both?

Posted by max_wedge
@mass, great news about the speed. So what's some of the finger touch features of X1? Compared to touch flo for example..

Posted by masseur
so far I haven't found anything I really need to do with the stylus, except the virtual keyboard. In general it responds much like the touch flo and screen scrolling etc looks identical

opera works just as good as on the diamond so my feeling really is that if you used this in the dark you probably could not tell it apart from the HTC offerings.

I really need to spend more time going through it before answering anything in great detail but so far I'm more than happy that I dropped the diamond for the X1

Congrats to Masseur on being the first.

My Vodafone version has just arrived and I am about to start unboxing....

Posted by Merlyn101
Is Opera on the X1 anywhere near as good an experience as Safari on the iPhone Masseur?

Another (future) X1 owner from Hotlanta here..
Matt, where in GA are you? I'm combing eBay to see if I can get a decent deal. Let us know if you actually receive one from Clove.

@Masseur - What ROM version/date is your phone running on? Is it still the one from Aug 29?

Anyone get any confirmation from Clove yet? I'm in the US and have had my pre-order in with them since the beginning of October.

I've had iPod touch - it's better in my opinion.

Black or silver, that is the question! Has anyone in the UK bought this SIM free? Where's the best place atm?

Can u show us some pictures of the Vodafone brand X1 pls? The main reason put me off from vodafone is their branding!

I've just been in to the Carphone Warehouse and the assistant informed me its been delayed again... despite being in the 'warehouse' due to software issues...

@msseur
CONGRATS!!!
Here in USA we have no idea when is coming plus it looks it will be with a degraded video so these 4 question are really important,

Can you show the Umts selection bands screen? minimum we need 1900 for AT&T.

Where you bought it and do they ship to USA?

What's the price and do we pay VAT?

Is yours unbranded?

Thanks. keep those picts coming, please

@all in USA.
Am I right when I say that 1900 is enough for 3G umts with AT&T?
I'm in New York and AT&T locally works over 850/1900 (UMTS II and V)
.

By the way.. one strange thing with skype.. I hear the one I'm calling in the external speaker.. not the ear-one. So it's kind of speakerphone... but with no button to change to private. Anyone who can confirm this or is it just my phone?

Same for me. And it seems the microphone isn't working either, when using Skype.

/Michael

The Mic works for me.. but doesn't sound as good as when using the standard phone-function.
