PK does it have an accelerometer?

Posted by n3o
@PK

a superb phone for business people...way better then Nokia comunicator...

Posted by bavlondon2
So is this fully WM7 or UIQ and WM?

Also id like to know how deep into the UI the snazzy look goes. On the HTC its not all that. Im sure its nice. Also HTC phones are crap for video. Thats why I want to know if this is indeed running on OMAP 3rd series chipset.

Posted by se_dude
the accelerometer is brilliant..just hope that SE actually incorates the features in its UIQ phones...phones tht wud suit us more...

Posted by doc2
Peterkay, do you know what processor/platform/how much RAM
does the X1 use??

man miracles do happen..

Would you guys say its the iphone killer?

I would.

add 8GB of memory and it would

it's a different class of device. iphone is a mainstream, "look at how fun and shiny and easy to use it is" device that trades specs and buttons for simplicity and style. x1 - on paper - is a high end businessphone that looks geared towards geeks and power users, and not mainstream style mavens. apple would never make a phone with this many buttons. not saying that's a good (or bad) thing - just that they wouldn't do it.

@jack00:
you have to add 16GB of memory now, actually - apple just upped iPhone's storage.

and also, you have to actually ship the thing. i'll bet $ that by the time x1 ships, iPhone 2.0 is also shipping (or within 2 weeks of shipping)

true, but if you present something as the ultimate multimedia device, you can't ship it with 400MB memory - think about it

"The P phone still exists"...can't even imagine what that'll be like.

Posted by bavlondon2
In the video the 9 tiles change format when she turns the phone round so maybe it has an accelerometer?

Great stuff from overall.

No complaintes from me.

and well done to for not leaking any X1 pics till just a few minuted b4 the announcement.

Helloooo! rool:

At last, something that looks like it'll tempt me out of my N95, I hope the battery life on this phone is better than that on the N95!

Generic mini USB connection, Wlan, nicely specced camera, touch interface and full QWERTY keys, I'm going to start saving!

Oh, you're right, I missed that. Yeah, that's garbage - 400mb of storage for a device meant to highlight multimedia on an 800 x 480 px display is a joke. microSD cards are getting big and cheap, so they'd better ship with an 8 or 16GB card in the box.

More memory will be pretty much unecessary if Spotify gets released for mobile phones, which absolutely isn't impossible.

HSDPA + Spotify = heaven

Posted by Trev1982
i wanted the p1 to look ike this with a big screen, i love it, you could loose the sliding keyboard for me though and just leave me with a screen now that would be nice
@pk it is the first time i seen it lol

Posted by londonlad123
DAMN!!

Its a iphone, n95, blackberry and htc tytn 3 all in one!!

Posted by XPHCTOC
I want it pppppppppppp

Posted by deuxani
@ PK, the one small thing I like about WM is the standby screen that shows all your upcoming appointments. Did SE leave that in tact? Can all your upcoming appointments be shown on the active standby screen?

Posted by Trev1982
when and how much i will pay now

Posted by clauf
The user interface (just from the pictures) look amazing. I love the look of "screenshotting" programs, which is completely original in the phone market. I do hope that sites don't compare this with the iPhone, something TIMES Magazine or any other American/British Media source does...

How much would the phone be? 500-800 USD?

Posted by laurenke01
WinMo=lots of third-party apps.

I'm still salivating at the screen.

And PK, can you explain the "panels" concept?

At launch, I'd guess somewhere in the higher end of your range there. ~ $700 USD.

Uhh, what's wrong with emoticons? Even people over 75+ likes it.
It's cute.

It's a WM device, that's why it only uses screen with 65k colors.

Impossible. WM does not support more than 65K colors.

Sorry ... I'm laid up with a nasty cold and so don't have anythign better to do than be online ... I'm just kind of disappointed, I guess. I've really been wanting a new SE phone to get super excited about - I was really hyped for p3i and a little underwhelmed when it actually came out. And now SE's launched something entirely new and it's going to be hampered by Windows Mobile, and not out for probably 6-9 months.

Besides, I'm interested in finding out what people really think about the new devices, and not just hearing fanboys blindly say "My brand rulez!"

Hmm. Interesting stuff... Its brought me out of my lurking to post! Its a beautiful phone device.

Questions for anyone who might have played with one (I'm looking at PK here... )

1: What is an "optical joystick" and how does it work? Is it like a d-pad, or a laptop scroll pad, or something completely different?

2: aGPS - is that true GPS, or some kind of fakery? They don't talk about it much on the min-site or the main specs page.

3: I can't see any scroll wheel in the pic - has that gone entirely? (I use my P-phones as ebooks, hold in one hand, scroll page with wheel... wondering if the X1 can do this?)

I'd really like a UIQ device with similar hardware specs - still fingers crossed for the P5.

I hope SE can get the build quality and support right on the X1, I'm having a lot of problems with a dodgy P990 that they are refusing to repair... might put me off buying anything from them in the future, no matter how sexy it looks.

LEM
