Wouldn't this really depend on the phone? I mean I imagine people with a W910 or K850 might prefer the built-in player (unless they wanna multitask of course, zing) but people who have something older may use KD player.
I'll vote for my last 4 phones:
SE player for W910/K850
KD Player for K800/Z710
Of course now I have a W960 I wouldn't touch KD player, but I think its harsh to compare the Java-based KD player to a smartphone-based player.

It depends on wich sounddrivers i have installed on my K800(K810).. some drivers have much treble and KD Player doesnt
have any equalizer.. yet. Wich sucks pretty much so the treble get to high.

On my K800 i use the built in player for mp3. Use the KD player for audio books. I have to use both because the K800 have no memory where in a playlist you where last time.

I do have KD player on my K810i, but tend to use the in-built one. I like the way you can forward/back track and it plays from the exact point where I turned it off.
KD player is a bit of a drain on my battery tbh.

KD Player not having 'Equalizer' or 'MegaBass' equivalents is nothing to do with application it is a java api restriction.
If/when the restrictions can be overcome by more API's or whatever then we may see these features in KD Player soon.. well maybe
for me though even on Walkman phones like my W580 I still find myself using KD Player. I like the 'moving text' in KD Player and the display of embedded album art and the display of Record Label/publisher data which Sony still left out of Walkman

The bulid-in player from my K800 is way better for me than the KDplayer. The java player is only for "showing off" but if you want to a good player the built-in one is the best.
