"Samsung just announced their new flagship "Soul" cellphone in the spirit of its Ultra Editions. Get it? Spirit Of ULtra, soul? Yeah. Anyway, as Sammy's go-to phone for 2008, we're looking at a quad-band GSM phone with 7.2Mbps HSDPA; 2.2-inch QVGA display; 5 megapixel, image stabilized camera with Power LED flash and face detection; FM radio; microSD; Bluetooth, and more in a 12.9-mm thin slider. Sweetening the deal is a Magical Touch interface which adapts to your usage (music, camera, etc) a la LG's Venus. They've even added a jumbled-up Google icon for search and gMail access. Look for it to hit European retail in April. On display next week at Barcelona's Mobile World Congress where you can bet your last money, it's gonna be stone gas, honey."

has anyone bought one yet?
can they please tell us all about the navi pad it looks strange

Dont normally like Samsung much but this one looks good and i read reviews on it saying its camera is good. I asked though in another thread about this and other new Samsungs if they can now use any tone as a message alert and also if you can save pictures directly to memory card. Reason i ask is these were common complaints of older Samsungs.

it's advertised in the May edition Vodafone mag which I have,
the pictures of the dislay look really nice especially the theme,
reminds me of those digital watches you used to be able to get years ago
Vodafone are selling at £299.99 on PAYG..
looks quite nice, but it's a no no for me cos it has no Wi-Fi
had a few experiences with Samsungs though and they are very nice and simple to use, D600i was my Favourite
Z650i was good but couldn't set MP3's as ringtones due to stupid iMode lol
you should query Samsung about what you have heard and make them advise you want you wanna hear before buying it though Bono

Yes its the first Samsung to have themes my god they are getting with the times. Might go and see one tested in a shop see what its like. Miss UK i like the way Vodafone do things cos they sell ALL their phones on pay as you go not limiting certain phones just to contract though ya gotta fork out alot of money for top ones if ya got it. I want an N82 Black.

@bonovox
I dont think d500, d600 had theme changes, but d900/e900 had the option to change to either white or black themes. Not exactly themes like for example, but im sure you get what i mean.
O, the g600 has themes You can even make them on the go....
Posted by Miss UK
Gotta love that D600i though it was the longest Samsung I ever had possibley the longest phone I ever kept for 12 months
I even have the memorys of my Samsung photo thread here
btw Bono, your gonna have to go instore and ask them for the Soul cos it's not listed on PAYG online yet but I defo tell you it's £300..
wouldn't it be good if Mobile shops did finance
btw yeah have a play and report back,
im staying away from phones cos i'll end up selling my N95-2 and regretting it like crazy if I replaced it with something else

It does look nice, but the price tag is something else.

one of the lads in an office i went into the other day had one and the pad in the middle is ace... only gripe i can find though is that its recessed slightly into the phone so would collect the dirt and dust loads....
Nice feature though!
Posted by Miss UK
Give it 6 months and it will come crashing down
have all the networks got this anyway or is Vodafone the exclusive's again?
Posted by Bonovox
No so far Voda Orange and O2 i seen it on.
Posted by Miss UK
Who's the cheapest on PREPAY ?
Posted by Bonovox
Dont know if its on pre pay as yet only on Voda as far as i know. Will be soon though no doubt. And Carphone also has this phone now too. I dont think Samsung would allow this phone to just one network it just would not sell.

The battery in this is supposed to be terrible. 850 mah??? What on earth are you thinking Samsung?

Samsung Soul reaches number one position
"The Samsung Soul’s record £5m marketing campaign appears to be paying off, as the handset became the most popular contract phone this week.
The device is the first Samsung handset to reach the number one spot in Mobile’s handset tracker this year, which is based on contract sales at Phones 4u and Carphone Warehouse."
