"To go beyond touch and create touchless 3D device control interface, Nokia decided to use Ultrasonic Transducers (USTs), arrayed around the perimeter of the display.

Ultrasonic transducers emit ultrasonic sound waves that propagate through air. When finger gets into the path of these waves, the signal is reflected back and detected by the transducer."

Bad idea.

i got used to the keypad too, but i like the idea... but it will take years anyway, when they launch it...

Yeah iphone 4 will be out by then lol

And anyway it looks like a bloody clock or something?

Those signals could easily be disrupted, with those emitters lying around the screen like that. Plus, this cannot be too accurate for finger tracing..
This technology is a bit unreliable if you ask me...

Ultrasonic?

Imagine if it drove every dog within 30 feet crazy!

maybe thats the future, so why not? have to admit, maybe it stays just a concept, but how many "crazy" ideas turned later out as brilliant? many. when sony popped up with the walkman and wanted to sell it america, everbody said, who the hell wanna listen to music on the street? they did then and look now around on the streets...
