Hey, just got a N95 off Nanu and its giving me a well weird fault.
The thing is when i press the "red button" the one used for cancelling calls my phone must think im press the number 9 and immidiatley shows "9" on the on screen display and then the red button does its job of cancelling.
So basically i get a number 9 for milliseconds then it goes off. The same thing happens when i press 9 so i haven't been able to dial or text at all.
Also when i press the camera button the N95 thinks im pressing "*" key. The same happes when i take pictures. i press "*" and it focus's etc
i've reflashed the firmware and still getting the fault.
Any ideas?

good quaetsion. if its still under warranty ( hope u have the receipt 9 its for free of coures 8 if its a warranty case ) well, u should give them a call maybe and ask, but they have to check it and may they have to send it to a service, if there is no way to manage it local.

It was nanu's i dont think he has.
Another thing now the battery cover has come off now and i've lost it when i was out tonight

yeah he says it didn't.
another thing now, the dedicated music keys aren't fully functional. The Play/Pause key acts as the rewind key
And the Battery cover has disappeared off the face of the earth

Everything was working fine before sending!
All I did was reset the phone to erase personal data, and it seems this may have caused the problem!

if you have a data cable (one for a psp/digi cam/ps3 controller charger will do fine), try running the nokia software updater from nokias website

It's definitely not water damaged, the phone was working absolutely fine, I reset it boxed it and sent it!
It appears it is the reset that has caused the problem!

Yes, Phoenix will do the job...however, the phone'll have to be flash erased, and then re-flashed from the earliest base firmware(V.10??), having newer/updated flashes on top(until the v. you want - v.20 I guess)...not a fun process(but Nokia insist on doing it this way)......
As explained to me by my local Nokia service centre engineer......

(just to point out, you dont have the get the phone anywhere near water for it to recive water damage - can be something simpe as going into your bathroom after someone has had a shower and its still hot/steamy in there, then walking out a few minutes later, back into a colder room. can cause it....obvously as you say no, it doesnt have water damage just wanted to add this...)

I'm just saying it is impossible for it to be water damage causing the problem as it worked fine up until being reset and boxed!

dont think a amster reste can cause such a problem. to be honest, i would let it check by nokia itself, before u give it to sy... some shops might have j.a.f. or mt-box, those are ok.

One question though, you see the N95 camera cover, some paint is missing on the bottom. I have a new one of these but how do i remove the old one?
Also need an answer for removing the speaker out case because i have new ones of them aswell =]
