Hi guys!
Im new here. Just bought a Billionton USB Bluetooth Dongle and I cant seem to make it synchronize the following

Outlook + T68 Phone/Sim Entries
Send SMS via Mobile Agent using BT connection

How do I make the phone and my laptop communicate with each other? Im using an IBM T22 at the moment with Win2K loaded on it.

Thanks,

Hi there.
I have an MSI dongle, and I had a 3Com before. All works almost the same way.

When you installed the software, it created you virtual serial ports.
You have to:
1. Pair your devices
activate in your phone "Bluetooth, Discoverable", then "Bluetooth, Paired Device, Add Device, Phone accepts"
In your computer, find "Pair devices". It will seek for your phone, and ask you for a key. Type the key, and your phone will then ask you to enter the same key in it. That's it. Your devices are paired

2. Connect the serial port of your bluetooth device (PC) to the serial port of your phone
In your BT software, you should have a "connection" or "add connection" or "create connection" function, something like that... You can create a connection between your computer and the phone.

3. Finally, you have to enable, and better reserve, the appropriate com port in "Control Panel, Phone Monitor Options". I.e., if your virtual port connected in your BT software is COM3, you must enable, and reserve COM3 in "Phone Monitor Options"

That's it. It should work both fingers in the nose

How the hell did you get that far!? I have got so fed up with the stupid billionton bt dongle. All I can do at the moment is exchange bussiness cards and when i press synchronize, it doesn't sync from outlook and my calender!

Please tell me how you got that working, by the sounds of it i seem like a wireless retard. all i want to do is send pics from my phone to pc. I dont understand any of those stupid comm ports or anything.

Please!!

Am I right to buy a MSI Dongle to keep my laptop, my Palm and my T68i happy ? and would it support a Headset ?

Another (metaphysical) question is this one :

Why are MSI's Dongles so cheap (around 50 € in UK) compared to the ones we can buy in France (130+ €) ?

Thanx

Kiki, I don't think MSI supports the Headset profile. That's why I'm specifically looking for the Billionton brand. And it's a lot cheaper too.
Maybe about USD45 =)

Well, here in the UK I've seen Bluetooth dongles from various manufacturers from well known ones like TDK and Belkin to lesser know companies (which are obviously cheaper).

This is what I've found at on UK online store...

TDK USB dongle = £150 UKP (€225)

Wavelinker (Innovision) USB dongle = £27 UKP (€40.5)

I have the Wavelinker and it works just fine with my T68i. Virtual serial ports for connection to Float's Mobile Agent is fine, also for any program that uses Mobile Phone Monitor is fine. Dial-up networking works fine too as I can access GPRS from my PC or laptop across bluetooth.

I haven't seen what comes with the TDK bundle but I can tell you that all I got with my Wavelinker is a CD containing drivers and software and also a small sheet of paper describing how to install it. The rest of the documentation is on the CD. I'm guessing that the TDK probably comes with a decent sized paper based manual and maybe some really good software too but other than that... I can't see how they can justify such a high price.

Maybe someone here that has bought the TDK dongle can tell us what other special stuff you get with it?

Well, i did manage to make it work, but like one of the bt-usb owners said, it can only send business cards.

I was surprised though that MS outlook worked fine with it, and my messages all went into the MS Outlook inbox, and there is now an option for sending text mesgs from outlook itself. but sad to say, its an on-off thing. The only change i made is that i "enabled" all the serial com ports so the software will just have to select which one it wants to use.

For Mobile Agent, and Ericsson communication suite, Sony My Pictures and Image Editor, forget about using the BT-USB dongle.

@Tantin-68

I disagree ! I'm working with BT USB MSI dongle. I'm using Mobile Agent, Outlook Text Message add-on, XTND Connect, I've tried Mobile Navigator 2.01, I'm using the imaging software of , and I've tried some other tools.

All work perferctly. As we have the same material, My manager and myself managed yesterday to find out how to use both serial ports of the T68i together (one for Mobile Phone Monitor, and one for MobileAgent) in order to have two application connected simultanously.

It works great...

I'm looking forward for more software (Didn't get PhoneBackup to work. Can't install it, no idea why)...
