I think that it is already here in the Philippines cause it was already advertise by Convergence at Net 25. They saw this cellphone in the last Technology Meet at the world trade center of the Philippines. That is the first time I saw that phone so maybe it is here but not yet ready for public buying.

This post was posted from a P800

I just visited Semicon Megamall and by chance happen to meet an SE manager showing the P800 to the Semicon employees. Yup, it's around P35k. But I think that's one of the reasons why SE (or Semicon for that matter) hasn't launched it yet - because they are deciding on the final price. My guess is around 1st wk January.

By the way, the phone look really cooool. I got the chance to fiddle around with it and it is greeeaat! It will blow Nokia's 7250 (or any Treos) away!

Whaaa... I WANT IT NOW!!!

Hey pipol...im a filipino here in the UAE and i just got the P800 at its first release last 2 days ago...i just want to inform you that it cost 2990dhs here...converted sa pesos...mga 40thou-42thou...just wanna inform you guys so that you may not get ripprd off; kse baka mkabili kayo dyan na umaabot ng 45th-50th...kick back na yon....

Posted by bonito99
Thanks for the info Skrue! It's still very expensive at 40k. Ahhh... wishful thinking.

Posted by mondo
p800 for 45thou? that's like a basic pc system already! **** ba sila? yeah! that's a major rip off! i'll make sure my friend gives it to me less than 40! and i'll tell you guys if he does so masaya tayo for this post xmas gift to ourselves! 40 is too much pa nga e! i'll find a cheaper price and tell ya guys if i do find one (i just hope you'return the favor- tulong tulong mga pinoy!)! i've inquired sa semicon and they dont have it yet (last week) and i'm getting excited na that its being introduced to them already (sabi mo). i talked to se sa sm north and they say whatever the price is, dadagdagan pa daw yun ng semicon for like 3-5k for the warranty. so near 40k nga (patay), but the se guy said that it'll be definitely be cheaper sa gh ng mga 5k but w/o warranty but risky, diba? sana my friend is A REAL FRIEND and will give a good deal with warranty! i cant wait for that damn phone! basta that fab phone must make the wait, new year and christmas worth it!!! basta peeps, tulong tulong tayo!!!!

that's expensive

Posted by jomni1
If it's worth 40K then I'd might as well buy a nokia 9210 (which is more powerful in my opinion) or a separate PDA.

Posted by kapitan jackal
@9210? Are you sure? Pda? Well a pocket pc maybe

Posted by warp86
9210 powerful???? you must be dreamin dude, check & compare.......

what are u thinking of?

Posted by weneklek
9210?

Posted by warp86
9210 kiddin right?

Posted by mariolouis
9210's a lot cheaper. and it's "basically" the same. symbian and everything. minus of course the packaging and the touch screen. i find the p800 way too expensive for me. i think i'm holding on to my t68 and ipaq a lot longer than i expect. too bad!

Posted by mariolouis
another option is the xda smartphone with pocket pc 2002 os. i found one at gh and they are selling it for 40K. i think its cool-looking coz of the metallic finish unlike the "toy-like" p800.

Posted by airevolt
ill just wait for the neonode and hopefully pray that it will come here in the philippines...i think 40k is too much maybe 30k is justifiabale for its initial price

Posted by GOwin
The communicator belongs to a different league. You can't compare the P800 to it (wawa naman ang 9210). When the 9xxx series came out, it created a class of It's own - not categorized as smartphones like the P800. Besides, nokia phones are almost always over priced when they are first released, so it seems like they're 'cheap' nowadays.

Posted by warp86
I agree with papa GO, Nokia units are cheap!:o

Posted by jed13
So kelan ba daw talaga ang release date ng P800

Posted by mailliw_17
Wala pa balita kelan ang release?

Posted by ferrarista44
ang sabi lang week 2 (2003).

Posted by mondo
and by the way, the 9210 does not have bluetooth. and i think so does the neonode n1. in other words.... limited capabilities for synchronization= crap.

Posted by jplacson
The great Nokia 9210i Refrigerator? ...er... "Communicator"? HAHAHAHA... no GPRS? no Bluetooth? Not even tri-band? Twice as big as the P800?(And seriously, twice as ugly...and I think the P800 is kinda ugly)

Can the refrig...er.. 9210i even play mp3s? And if you wanna take pictures? Don't you need to attach something to this already huge machine? 9210? I'd rather get one of those old analog Motorola 3watt phones! Mas maganda pa!

Neonode... puwede pa...at least the screen kicks ass! (18-bit, better pa than ALL PDAs out on the market) And it's small... they have new touchscreen technology that allows use of your thumb, and not a pen... parang graffiti na ewan. I actually think the N1 looks cute... mukhang Weebot...It's not targetted at power-users... the N1 is supposed to be a mss-market phone. Multimedia functions, fun phone, occassional surfing, and camera...and a low(er) price.

Posted by mondo
what?! n1? ngek! di ata! first of all, it doesnt sync with mac coz its microsoft operated. secondly, it's too small! it's better than the titanic 9210 but the p800 is much better! the n1 looks too..... young. too walang saysay! well, i respect your decission pare!

Posted by jplacson
I didn't say that the N1 was better than the P800... not by a long shot!!! If the N1 was tri-band and had Bluetooth, I'd pit it against the T68i, not the P800.

Posted by latergarfield
I ll go for the P800 if i have the money for it, ill definitely get it.

Posted by Jowi
9210? even though i own both & a Nokia ...im not impressed with the 9210 since it came out.

Posted by jomni1
Think about the software guys. There's still not much around since it's new... Don't you think the 9210 also has the problem of limited software (I'm not sure about this because I'm not a user)? And if no software comes out in the future, then you might be paying a relatively steep price for a "phone" (because the PDA function is limited). The trusty old palms and pocket PC's may be better options.

Anyway, if all the software comes out, that's when I'll get my hands on a p800 or a higher version.

But don't let this stop you guys from buying the p800. Who know's? Since you guys make the phone popular, many people will start developing software for it. If the sales of the p800 (as in the case of the 9210) does not match or exceed that of the PDA's and Pocket PC's the developers won't bother making applications.

And when I say applications, I mean USEFUL applications... not just games as in the case of the N7650.

Posted by jcpsad
35 to 40k? man that's a powerful pc na!

Posted by jomni1
I checked the internet and found out that the 7650 and the P800 runs on the same OS (Symbian?... P800's a higher version though). And the people who developed software for 7650's and 9210's are also coming up with P800 versions. That's good to hear.

You can't lug around a P40K PC in your pocket can you? For me, the best mobile solutions for, more or less, the same price are:

1.)P800
2.)Palm TT and SE T68i
3.)M505 and T68i (Although, why bother? the P800 has a better screen than all the older Palms!)

IDEAL mobile solutions for more money:
1.)P800 or T68i AND Clie NX70 w/ Bluetooth module
2.)P800 or T68i and the newest iPaq w/ Bluetooth

Just for mondo... get a BT plug for your iBook! I'll check around for the update on iSync and the P800

the P800 is supposed to have better software than the 7650, for example Citrix WinFrame client will be available. Sybase database has been shown by SE already. Oracle to follow soon. It's not the quantity of applications that matter, it's the quality. If only the P800 has (as in now) ListPro, Expensable, Documents to Go (or similar), I'll buy it in a blink.

What does Listpro do? Expensables..not yet (There's a program called JABP, but it looks very dull), Docs to go..for what? Websites? Or just to read word, text, etc? The P800 has built in readers for Word, Excel, Txt, and PDF. Reqwireless has a browser for the P800 that can use any connection method (GPRS, IR, BT, or cable) to surf the web. And I think you can save pages as well.

As far as database SW is concerned... Oracle and CA are developing programs FOR the P800... check out Se's P800 site and check out the Software section... SE has major agreements w/ game developers, CA and Oracle.

Hey guys! P800 is already available here in the philippines! Just saw one at MEMOEXPRESS Sta. Lucia branch! The price? ... P39K!!!! damn! you can buy a palm m515, (get a free creative mp3 player) and a cony cybershot U, and it'll only set you back P29K! (you got a PDA, MP3 PLAYER, and a DIGITAL CAM!) I think they failed to give the p800 a competitive price... guess i have to wait...

medyo late ka na sa balita ah

Posted by arnoldc
jplacson, ListPro is list management. can be used for things such as inventory, groceries, DVD list, etc. etc. etc. Expensable is Travel and Expense Management originally sold by Quicken, now taken over by Expensable.com. Documents to Go are Word, Powerpoint, and Spreadsheet FULL apps, not viewers popular for Palm-based PDAs. How about project management which I also have. These are the REAL applications that I am using.

I'd love to see these on the P800. In fact, the office suite that runs on the old Epoc (where Symbian is based) is superb. Epoc has quality applications which I hope would make to the P800.
