Sony UMPCs tend to have the fastest CPUs around, couple it with a decent 1Gb ram and it will work like a high-end Win XP sp1 pc
but just one question is the ASUS Eee PC considered a UMPC? give it's specs as well as the size, i think that baby belongs here

Only drawback i can see on Eee PC is the minuscule 4/8Gb SSD. it should be at least 16/20Gb.

Waw asus eeepc @$300 is sure hot. I aggree with razec 4/8gb ssd isnt enough, but i wonder if the internal ssd drive is removeable? In case if i want to upgrade it to higer capacity

The sony is great but expensive, BTW UMPC's by definition have 7 inch screens or smaller, i don't rate that Asus with a dumb name!!

Unfortunately not, SSD is a fixed Hard Disk with no moving parts like HDD, but instead it's soldered upon the main board so as to prevent HD corruption and damages. but one advantage of SSD is that it's faster than HD, no wonder why the Eee PC runs like a high-end win 98 desktop when it comes to booting or loading apps. in case 4/8gb is not enough, you can buy yourself a portable hard disk to ensure more files to carry

a good buy at the moment is the OQO model 01+ which Expansys have at £399.95. It used to be £1000+
downside really is the 3 hour battery life. UMPC really need at least double that but thats hard to find
don't forget that play.com have the N800 internet tablet for £129.99 delivered. Not really a umpc but not a bad alternate for that price. I enjoyed the N770 for a couple of months

Id recommend the eeepc...Had one a while now installed XP on the internal drive and ive got a 4gig sd card which i install all my apps to.
Works a treat and is very quick at booting and in use due to the SSD.

Hmm, now after consider alot. I better limit my budget into $1200 (saving for future
phones) which automatically elimininate expensive Vaio UX58
Now my priority is the Value one, Asus EEE PC is sure interesting, but the space is my considerations (any news maybe asus will launch 16gb eee pc?)
Nokia N800 is cathing my eye but it doesnt have usb port is a big downside.
Do you have any other reccomendations guys?

Get The Eee PC for instance ( 8 Gb if you want the best performance for less because of the 1Gb DDR2 RAM and 8Gb SSD )
it sure won't disappoint you, 900Mhz sounds slow but looking at the Fast performing SSD drive where your OS is installed it will just take you 15 secs when a newly installed win Xp runs or even just 30 secs when already loaded with applications N800 is nice but theres alot of reasons to ditch that baby due to the lack of the ever important USB port as well as a relatively fast CPU, RAM and graphics processor. and of course Eee PC is a lot easier to use than N800!!
anyway because of the USB port you are able to plug in a 20Gb portable mini HDD which is a simple yet excellent remedy for the yearn of denser storage. i myself have a 16Gb portable HD drive that i use for all my music, videos, files, applications and simple games when i'm out of my home
BTW. the Eee PC 8gb model has it's SSD not permanently soldered on the main board but instead it's connected via the internal mini-PCIe connector in short, you can expand the storage
the UMPC also accepts SD/SDHC cards
