HBH DS-970 Handsfree IC gone Kaput

Well been using 970 since 1.5 year(warranty is over) and till yesterday got no problem with it . right now i m getting very low sound from my left earphone. So i went to the SESC. Engg. told me that Handsfree IC(he is not sure about it ) has gone and has to be replaced to get full sound . I said ok change it . but he said i cant guarantee that it will work after replacing IC coz i haven't worked on any Streo Bluetooth yet as this is my 1st case . so i just refused to do it .
anyway does anyone have any idea abt this particular problem
I m thinking to get DS980 now . but its not available here in INDIA at SE showroom.
