I've recived this at 3.50am in my inbox...

I know fuel prices in the UK are somewhat extravigant, but is there any other way of doing things to bring the price down? Back in 2000 it hit 81p per litre and the roads ground to a halt with everyone panic buying with que's for upto an hour long for a limited quantity of fuel per vechicle.

The only other way is for the goverment to stop putting a vast amount of tax on it.

Have you noticed that the price, once it got over that magic 99.9p a litre hurdle, is now climbing rapidly i.e. 105.9p litre for diesel whereas it as nothing like that a few weeks ago?
Personally, I think it was really the £1 per litre barrier that pegged the prices for so long. My local ASDA still has it for 99.9p a litre but sells out daily.

It wouldn't be so bad if our roads weren't a potholed, poorly maintained mess, or we get charged money for going where we need to go anyway. Congestion charge? Don't make me laugh. You NEED to get there, it's the City Centre for goodness' sake. It's just another money making tax, it doesn't solve a damn thing. All this money in petrol tax, road tax, congestion charges, speed cameras (Theres a speed camera put in place when someone jumps off a bridge - what the hell kind of traffic accident is that?) you think the least they could do is give us smooth roads.

It's happening on saturday now;

UPDATE: This morning (10/12/07) Transaction 2007 announced a firm date for the protest. Protests will start Saturday 15th December 2007 at 10:00am. They say the date was decided by members as "the best possible to enable those who would normally be working during the week to attend." According to a press release on the site, they plan to protest outside refineries or storage depots across the country.

Thats a really good idea, demonstrating outside the refineries when they are not the ones causing the problems. Wouldnt it be better to lobby the people putting the tax on the fuel? Ive suddenly lost interest in this "protest".

There's a BP garage round my area that wants £1.06p for petrol and £1.12p for diesel! Its ridiculous! Morrisons and Tesco seem to be the best option for me as their petrol prices are £1.01p still extravagant but nonetheless a better alternative!

113.9 for premium diesel

@ Vein.. Tescos petrol isn't as good as Esso, shells etc... they add too much silicone to it..

www.petrolprices.com will tell you the cheapest price in your area

Posted by Vein
Yeah Morrisons is the cheapest in my area Colin

With £10.00 being only 9.81 ish litres doesnt go very far though!!
