Digital photo frames?

Hi

Ive got a question that I think you guys might be able to help me with. Basically I want to get a digital photo frame for my Grandad for Christmas (he has a k800i ). I know some of them have USB ports on, so I was wondering, if you plugged the k800i directly into the photo frame with the USB wire, would it be able to detect the photos like its designed to do and so show them? Or my other option is to find one with an m2 or memory stick slot.

So has anyone tried this out with a sony ericsson on a digital photo frame, and if so which frame would it work with?

Thanks

Hi there.

Read your post earlier, but didn't want to reply until I had a chance to test this.

I have a K810i and a digital photo frame, This one from Play.com

I switched on the frame and plugged in my phone with the USB cable and the phone picked up that it had been plugged into something and came onto the screen where you pick transfer mode or phone mode. I tried both modes and couldn't find a way to transfer images or view them on the frame. It would only pick up the images on the card that was plugged into the frames card-reading slot. Tried taking that out and I still couldn't find a way to navigate to the info on the phone, there just wasn't an option to do that.

The photo frame I've got will take most modern formats of card, I am using MS pro duo (use with adaptor).

A word of advice though. Most of these frames are in widescreen format, so you will need to crop the photos first before displaying, otherwise they look stretched and don't look right at all.

It doesn't take long to upload my photos, I just plug the Memory stick and pick the photos I want, quickly crop them using This little image cropper and save the cropped image to the card.

Hey presto!

Hope that helps you.

I am not sure if the method you want to use would work with a different photo frame.

@abbafan1972 im looking to get one for my mum for xmas and was just wondering if you could answer a few questions about the frame you got?

Is it battery operated?
Does it have a random photo function?
Is the screen quality any good?

Thanks in advance

Thanks abbafan. Only trouble with getting a memory card one is that Grandad might not be able to get the card in and out of his phone!

Thanks anyway! If anyone knows of any other photo frames that can work with USB phones please let me know!

Hi there.

Is it battery operated?

No it runs off the mains

Does it have a random photo function?

Not as far as I can see, the photos just run in the same order, but you can change the time each photo stays on and apply some transition effects.

Is the screen quality any good?

Yes it is, even with photos taken on my phones, (W810 & K810).

@Faultymonkey - the memory card I use is specifically kept for the photo frame and I crop the photos first and then save them on the card.

This frame is good value (It has come down in price since I had mine). A nice touch is having the interchangable frames, change it to match your decor.
