are these easy to unlock?
if so i may get one!

Can anyone tell me where i can purchase a P1i for cheap?
Posted by Daedalus85
Here or ebay.
We've got them sim free for £299, which isn't bad for a high street retailer (thats O2 by the way).
Posted by Seanyb2
6300 is hard to unlock it can be done though not everywhere does it. When they unlock them they have to take the front cover off and all kind of crap like dust gets inside then.
Posted by 5nak3
I thought the 6300 was a series 40 phone, meaning that a code unlock is possible
Posted by Seanyb2
Yes but they are classed as a BB5 handset which have a special network code in them in which hardly anywhere unlocks them. The software to unlock them is very expensive. Unless your network gives you the code then most places who unlock them have gotta open them up and attach cables or something to the main board inside the phone and get the code via the pc that way. Something like that anyway. I dont like it as some shops wreck the phones when so much dust gets behind the screen.
Posted by 5nak3
right i got ya, similar to the moto v3 where you would have to do a testpoint unlock. Yeah i think taking it to a shop and getting dust behind the screen is an annoyance as they probably wouldn't care about the treatment of the phone.
To be fair, i think i have seen some BB5 unlockers online or at least some threads regarding unlocking BB5 phones. I think it was on the moneysaving expert forum. I didn't really sit down and read any of the posts as i dont own a nokia, but if anyone is interested, check it out you might find something useful.
I also know of another site that has a whole forum dedicated to unlocking phones, but i'm not sure if i am allowed to post links. If i am allowed i'll gladly pass out the URL maybe it is of use to someone.
----Edit----
Well just went onto moneysavingexpert forums and checked the Nokia 6300 [RM-217] (dont know what the RM 217 stands for) cannot be unlocked via a free code.

i used to post over at MSE about the unlocking on there until i forgot my email addy and password that i used to sign up.
most new nokias are bb5 (6630 was the earliest one i can remember that was bb5) and only the dct2/3/4 nokias can be unlocked by code

He just keeps the Orange one for Orange wednesdays and cause he's never had a reason to disconnect it or anything really.
I take it he's not bothered about the latest phone then
seems a good thing to have if your visiting the cinema alot.
those 0range commecials are pretty annoying at the cinema tho
talking of 0range seems they have a few £10 handsets on there site,
plus a few more cheapys too

You can unlock the BB5 phones via a code you type if your network gives it to you. By the way can you use Orange Wednesdays at IMAX Cinemas. Reason i ask is i was going to go to the one in Birmingham to see U23D there with my brother and its so expensive to get in like £8.75. Anyone know. Sorry i know its off topic.
Posted by Daedalus85
£8.75 for IMAX can't be that bad, peak here (ie in the evening) can be anywhere up to £7.50 for an adult, and then an extra £2 on top if it's a 3D film, and thats a bog standard Cineworld cinema
Kerry: He's got a brown K770i I bought him for Xmas from T-Mobile

is it only 3 who has the K660i?
good price.
Posted by Seanyb2
Not sure i have not seen it anywhere else not even in Carphonewarehouse. Would only buy the wine coloured one though the lime green looks too much.
Posted by Seanyb2
Actually just looking at 3 March brochure and the W890i is £239.99 yet the much older W880i is £209.99. Very odd i think. Only £30 cheaper and its far older and can be bought elsewhere for £99. Crazy. The older N95 on 3 now is £319.99 but not as good yes as Miss UKs price.
Posted by PeterKay
Is this in the brochure or online, the k660i?
Posted by Seanyb2
Its the inshop brochure for March i picked it up as i was passing Superdrug today. Some very nice priced phones on 3 now but can anyone tell me if their network is much better these days.
Posted by Daedalus85
Well they've got the strongest 3G coverage in the UK, and their 2G comes from O2, which is one of the stongest in the UK, if not the strongest, so I imagine it's pretty good.
When I had my 3 phone for a couple of years about 10 months ago, I never had a problem with it, infact I often got signal in the middle of nowhere where my friends didn't!
However, their CS is still absolutely, without a doubt, the WORST I have ever dealt with in my life.
O2 must be the only UK network with all their call centres actually IN the UK lol
Posted by Seanyb2
Is the 3UK 2G signal not with Orange now. That sounds good though their network could surely only go one way. And yes O2 customers services whenever i call them i get through straight away never in a Q no matter what time of day and always very helpful friendly and from the UK. Lol.

Orange are doing the £15pm deals now
http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/paymonthly?WT.svl=203
but 18months.
unlimited txts, 100mins
Posted by Daedalus85
Glad to hear we're doing a good job Sean
And last I heard it was O2, but it may well be Orange now, although why I don't know, because Hutchinson Telecom (now Hutchinson Whompa or however you spell it) sold Orange and set up a whole new phone network (3), so I can't see them going back to the people they sold it to and saying "err, can we borrow it back for a bit?"

Same as ours then, plus 100 minutes :/ Damm those wiley minxes

prefer O2 myself
just because of that Thriller dance
Posted by Seanyb2
Daedalus yes O2 i have found beat all other networks i have been on so far. Been with them now 9 months. As well as customer service i have also never had one single network problem either. I never get a dropped call not once coverage fantastic and O2 pay and go offers so much incentives with the free stuff every month better than any other network. They have improved since Telefonica took over. Do you work at a Call Centre then.

And we've just relaunched Bluebook, so you can backup all your SMS, MMS, contacts, pictures, videos etc online. Apparently all SMS and MMS are automatically backed up online once your registered so you can always get to them

That MDS-60 is definetely far far better than the MPS-60 or the 'ball' thing. It's more like a proper desktop speaker system than one you chuck in your bag.
