laptop
laptop

more versatile towards gaming and performance.

macbooks are really specific to the use of it... internet and image editing lol no gaming, barely and software support,

aside from macware ( use for 21 days then you have to buy it )

mac is crap imo, but obviously everyone has theirs.

thanks for your reply.many people have recommended me that i buy a macbook the software is more stable and less likely to crash than a windows machine and is also less likely to get any virus attacks.i also prefer the look of macbooks compared to windows laptops.

Depends on what you want to do with it

If you're only ever going to use it for surfing, email, music, movies and photography (like a lot of PC users do) then a mac would be your best bet. I'm not saying that macs CAN'T do anything else, of course they can. But that's what they are set up for out-of-the-box.

The security issues with PCs are widely exaggerated these days. The major threat nowadays is phishing scams, which all computer users are susceptible to regardless of the operating system they run. A fully updated PC with an antivirus and firewall application is perfectly safe providing you use it sensibly.

Macbooks are brilliant, and its easy to run windows software on them, plus you can install windows on them. But Laptops are much cheaper.

@paul

No, not in real terms. They cost about the same as a good quality mid-spec PC laptop.

whatever you do: use linux...mainly for the distros' funny names but also faster etc...
do not buy vista...too much stillllllllllllllll doesn't work right with vista imho

if you get a macbook with 2 gigs RAM you should consider using virtual machines of windows and linux, this means you can have all your operating systems on one machine, and they link with one another superbly, infact you can have windows windows in OSX.

You can have mac in a laptop as well
I see no point in spending extra on a macbook..

I think the question is why are you even considering a PC? a Mac is clearly the way you want to go!

I use an iMac and it rocks!

That, my friend, isn't so true anymore.

Macbook any day. Stable system, great software, works out of the box & boot camp - so you can still run XP or vista just as well as on any other machine (including gaming - which people constantly slag apple machines off for!). I moved to apple a year ago for personal use but still use windows everyday at work and to be honest there is no competition - given the choice I would use apple 100% of the time.

Any questions just ask.

Laptops, Laptops, Laptops!

lots of options, Designs, forms, lots of OSes, lots of brands, lots of accessories from various brands and lots of users worldwide -software availability wise a zillion times more than a MAC

Get a lapbook. Or a mactop.

and mactop or a topmac

laptop(you can partition or convert this too)
or
mac.. partitioned/converted if you like to - debian sarge
or ubuntu
but debian has a nice big package of apps etc to offer

a macbook with DOS3.3 (with enhanced mode support). A PocketPC with Vista? Sorry.

Seriously though, I'd take a PC, probably something like a Dell or Toshiba, with a fast processor and bucketloads of ram. I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up at a macbook pro, though I'd run windows and linux mostly, but on value for money basis it's simpler to get a wintel machine.

A MacBook! Ad if you wanna make sure you've got power, memory and a decent graphics card, etc. Get a MacBook Pro!
