hi to everyone! okay..here's the problem..after a week of using my k850, there seemed to be a problem when i press left, down, 4, and 5 buttons. when i press them, it seems that also the right touch key (contacts in standby mode) is being pressed. can you guys help me with this? do i bring this to a service center already? or just a firmware update? i tried updating though..and i think this has something to do with the keypads already..thanks again!:)

Hi,

Having a K850i myself and experiencing some issues with the keypad I can say it would most likely be a hardware problem. I think, judging from my keypad (which has lighting issues) the keypad internals aren't seated correctly and in most cases results in various quality issues.

Its unfortunate that SE build quality has been declining this way and I would recommend either getting it replaced or repaired.

My k850i keypad looks like it came free with a Christmas Cracker...

When you press the left D-Pad or no.1 key (or any key in the region) it looks as though pressure's being applied to the screen film (kinda like poking a TFT screen with your finger and the fluids gloop about).

I haven't seen shitty quality phones produced like this since the early Nokia's. Terrible, terrible design fook-up by SE... Someone in their design department needs removing from their flowery, Mac infested office and given a good public flogging for designing this keypad!!

Back to the k800i !!!

yeeh do that...k800 is soooooooooo much better...he he he
(i never liked my k800..thought it was to clumsy & big...i liked my k810 much more)...think the D-pad is much better then k800 mediocre joystick...

keep up the good work

Oh - I'm not saying the 800 is a better phone. I'm just saying the 850 isn't what it's cracked up to be. Took 3 photos with the sooooo-ho-ho called 5 mega pixel camera today - all of them were shite.

When you're pushing a phone on it's 5 megapixel capability and the prior model 3.2 megapixel jobby pushes out more reliable shots without pissing about with the ISO settings, red-eye malarky and "keep you fingers behind the flash" fussing - it's a "slight" failure in my eyes...

Once the k850i hype dies down you're left with a poorly put together handset with "rushed" firmware and slow navigation and a tinpot media player to boot...

Yeah - so the k800i's a bulky phone. But I don't need to fit it in my handbag. So I'm happy with that! Plus it comes in handy if you need to knock someone out with something heavy!!

Just got my phone back today after having the screen scratched in my pocket. Send back that faulty handset for a exchange or repair, they did'nt even make the screen scratch proof.

The same thing happens to me when pressing inside D-Pad. Sometimes it reacts on keys on the lower left side.

how do you think can this be repaired? can bringing it to a service center work? i mean can they fix this keypad problem?

Posted by DCUK7
A service center probably could fix this problem as the issue will most likely be to do with the contacts on the keypad however, they tend not to like opening the phone and usually send it away for repair.

I had this problem too where the phone constantly thought I was pressing the left touch key. It made texting nigh on impossible, so I rang o2 up and finally got a replacement delivered to my house yesterday. Everything's working fine so far, and I've found that the build quality is also slightly better as well, which was a nice surprise

You can't get replacement for the price of the repair if you have no warranty, right?
Its wierd because there are no visible contacts under keyboard. More to that, sometimes Right Action Key reacts only on direct press to the "spreaded area", sometimes that area spreads across the entire lower left side of the keyboard, when that happens the real key is hardly responsive. After a few hours its back to small area in D-Pad and real key is 100% responsive.

uhm..how can i fix this problem? thanks.. so i just bring them to a service center?

Posted by LCARS-Expert
Taking it to the service center is the only way at the moment.

thanks..last question..thanks..uhm..can they fix it? coz here in the philippines, k850 is not yet officially released..i actually bought it from hong kong..so they told me that i can only get it repaired when it is officially released here and it's some time this week i think. so since it is just keypad problem, i think they will be able to fix it right? thanks!

They will remove the keypad and put a new one, no actual repair.

Okay! so Im new to this forum and I love everyones information! First off I have a k850i and I love the crap out of it! however! the keypad started to peel up on the lower right hand corner. I ordered a replacement and it works just fine, except its the wrong color!!! this upsets me to no end! I have the quicksilver black version and the only keypads I could find were the velvet blue and green keypads. Does anyone know where I can get a quicksilver black keypad?! or am I just going to have to deal with the searing blue keypad on my black and white phone. Thanks in advance for answers!
