I reckon that it is a matter of signal.....I might be very wrong but if the 100m device and the 10m device are 90 m away, the 10m device should see the 100m one since its signal coveres the 90 m..........

This is unless the actual device itself must be in the coverage area......

@talbius:

sometimes, some bricks can reviece notes. most of us though have a contact with the name as something like "SonyEricsson rules - nokia sux" etc.

to send via BT on a t68i (i dunno bout others) go to the contact you wish to send. click on the option button. select send contact. select via BlueTooth.

first you must have discovered the device. to do this you go to connect. select bluetooth. select discover (NOT discoverABLE). then do what i described above.

good luck

hey cheers for info, im going to cinema tonight, hopefully ill get lucky

Can anyone find out if a 100m BT can connect to a standard 10m BT device at say 90m, this may affect my choice of next phone. Cheers

Posted by chaos_ed
Erm im probably not the first to point this out but surely if you are using a bluetooth device with a 100M range with a device that is capable of 10M range at 90M surely the device with the 10M range wont have the transmitter power to transmit data back to the 100M device!??

Correct me if im wrong

I have enough problems with range between my BUD and my t68i but everything works tho I can send files to and from my t68i

Posted by Gooey

-- <--10m range
-------------------- <--100m range

Lets say that if I was standing with a 100m range at the right hand side of the line, and some one else with a brick was standing on the left hand side of the 10m range line.
The brick could detect the 100m range device no problem, but, it could not pair/send info or anything at this range coz it don't have the power to send it, similarly, the 100m range could not dtect the brick at this distance for the same reason.
Correct me if I am wrong about this by all means, but it makes sense
However once all phones adopt a 100m range, and if nokia still leave it on by default.......thats another story lol

Posted by Zwanzig
I agree, it seems ulikely that the 100m unit would "pick up" the transmitts of the 10 m unit that is 90 m away and the other way round. I will ask some people who I think are pretty sure about this, I'll write the answers here if i get any...

*snicker*

I love how the P800 can send to multiple BT contacts at once...

The Philippines is Nokia-crazy. Here, many people think you can't SMS your friends or receive SMS from them unless you own a Nokia. The 7650 is massively popular, and is the "in" phone among the locals.

Combine that with a crowded cinema or coffee shop and you get the picture...

Posted by shithappens
Gee!!! That would make a fabulous jackin heaven for us all wouldn't it....think i'm gonna make the phillipines my next vacation destination

Posted by Froddan
If you have a 100m device and a 10m one, standing 90m apart the 100m can see the other, but not do anything because of the 10m limit on the other device. And the 10m device can't even see the other one.

The chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

Posted by dBAGZiq
Rashkaes right!

Too much Nokias around here...especially the 7650s...which are even a prize for too many raffles and contests...no exclusivity...i jack them asking where did they won those bricks...

In a school where i work...during break times try to discover some bricks...you'll see two to four of them discoverable...while some knows how to use theirs...and make it undiscoverable...picture how many of those use 7650s...the rest using other nokias...

Posted by benjamingreenau
Gooey is correct.

look at it like this: 10M device = nokia(crap) 100M device = SE(excellent)
i will redo your diag:

The names are the actual handset.
nokia-->
<--------------------SE

now the nokia can recieve the SE's signal. The SE's signal makes it to the nokia. The SE can not see the nokia as its signal does not make it to the SE. i hope this makes it clearer.

In other words it means that until nokias catch up when SE releases a BT2.0 phone it is still 10M bluejacking. oh well

Hey all,

I've been following this thread for the past week or so, and I'm Dying to Bluejack someone!

I've only had my T68i for about a week and a half now, and my g/f is already tired of me pulling it out (the phone!) at every restaurant and store!

Problem is... can't find anyone...

Nobody. nothing.

I know blokia only has the 6310i with bluetooth in America, but I live just outside of L.A. and I'd figure that SOMEBODY would have it.

I thought some one mentioned earlier that they were Bjacking in america, but now I'm noticing that most of you bloaks are from the other side of the Pond.

Does anyone know if Blokia switched to before introducing the bricks to the States?

Appreciate the info!

"Ignorance is a bliss", not a blessing

I have spent numerous hours reading posts in here today, and now I have been "arming" my phone for a city adventure. Contacts like "Sony Ericsson power", "Buy yourself a new phone", "Need a date?", and others are now ready Also added a se@mydomain.no mailadress, and added to the card, in case they have questions

lets go "Bjacking" the world!

Success for me!

Went to the carphone warehouse on oxford street, london, and did a search. Straight away found their bluetooth printer!!! Couldn't see it anywhere, possibly on the floor below?? Sadly coudln't print to it - guess u need to be paired.

While queuing up found a Nokia 6310i and promptly sent my "You've been bluejacked!!" contact!!

cool story ajack i like that one!!!!!

@ajack: just read the document - nicely done!!!

Hi love this thread stayed up till 3am this morning reading it all. I have got an old T68 that has been half upgraded (I think) and I'm all ready for some bluejacking. Just a few ideas I have had about speeding up the proccess of jacking, first I have moved bluetooth to the top of my shortcuts this way all I have to do to conduct an instant search is hold the joystick to the left and press 3 and i'm searching in less than a second. next I compossed half a dozen messages on various subjects and left them in my unsent folder so I wouldn't have to waste time, but then I didn't know which message was which so I created a contact for them in my address book giving them all phone numbers (111 222 333 ect) with a brief description fo the message where the names go, I then sent them all and hey presto all my messages in unsent have descriptions. Love hearing all about your conquests lets make the most of it while it's still relativly unheard of.

@tennents blue: welcome to esato and to this fabulous thread.....but be warned.... jackin is highly addictive and can (sometimes) even screw up your time with your other half.....but who cares!!! it's the coolest thing since peanut butter sandwich.....jackin and esato rocks man!!!

Me got my p800 and ready to bluejack.. ive got some contacts set up with horrible little comments but can anyone tell me how i can send an sms via bluetooth on a p800. I know u can 'print' em with the t68.

Can i use the jotter instead? to send messages or pics?

Posted by punkserb
i got such a cool contact and it seems i won't be using it until 10 years from now in the US! it says Nokia Code Virus in the name, then every possible field is filled on this binary 0's and 1's. i would LOVE the 3390's and 8290's and 8390's to have BT JUST so i could jack them. i see SSOOO many of them. can't wait till people start getting bluetooth phonese in the US, it will be a blast!

Posted by Andy.
Are you guys just Bluejacking Nokia or if you found a T68 or P800 would you leave it alone.

Posted by benjamingreenau
@andy:
to bluejack(BTJ) a phone its bluetooth(BT) must be set to discoverable. All nokias have this settings as 'Always' by default whenever BT is turned on.

SE phones are different. When you go and set BT to discoverable, it remains so for only three(3) minutes. The only reason you make your phone discoverable is to recieve something when you are expecting it or to begin the process of pairing.

basically if we did find a SE that was discoverable and we had the opportunity to hit it(unlikely as above) then we probably wouldnt. Then again, there are a few brick layers in the thread .....

I'm out on the piss in Islington tonight. The pubs are open to 1 a.m. so hopefully I'll find a few bricks

Posted by chaos_ed
I was in wetherspoons about 2 weeks ago and I found a brick and was gonna 'jack it but the connection failed! ..I was gutted as I normally have more success!!

Maybe those pesky brick owners have a new defense!??...Nah it was probably more to do with the s**tload of people and tables in the way or maybe ill just keep telling myself that

I aint got anyone for a while now and im suffering from withdrawl symptoms!! I need to get my bluejacking fix!!

Maybe I need to go and stand outside some phone shops!

M8 you need to get over to Churchill Square shopping centre to get your 'fix'

I guarantee you wont be dissapointed - remember to jack the Carphone Warehouse through the wall (a kinda alley way to some stairs) the geeky 'saturday boy' needs more abuse!

Cheers,

Greetz!

Yesterday I was on a mall and passed by a Vodafone store. Made a search and "Nokia7650" appeared on screen.

I recall a dude sayin' that printing a SMS the jacked victim wouldn't even notice it.

The thing is, I really tried but the only message I got was:"Sending..."

In the mean time, after trying several other technics, none was sucessful and then I gave up...

I'm eager to jack another Fu%&$# Finish brick
