hi ive just got a k850i after falling out with the N95 and wanting a decent camera.
Could someone tell me how is it possible to do this bluetooth thing where you send them a message? im a little confused.
thanks
standard way is create msg in a vcard (contacts) replacing contact details with message.
or you could send a picture. either way, get the file, choose send, choose send by bluetooth, let it scan for phones that have BT on (& visible), select one.
it's harmless fun sending comedy pictures & that, but usually they have to accept before the file transfer will work.
iirc older phones you could send them calendar reminders also, without their consent... but i think all phones nowadays ask to accept incoming BT transfer.
if it's between two SE phones then you can also send message from the notes feature.
but ofcourse, most people name their phones so you can't tell what model they are! but nothing wrong with [attempting to] send harmless files but if you are receiving i suggest NOT accepting any file ending in ".sis" - this could be a virus meant for nokia symbian phones.

LOL!! Nice experiment to do.
I was out with my bro sometime ago. We were at Mc Donald's and he needed to take a shit at the Mc Donald's toilet. So what he did was, after taking a shit, he took a picture of it and renamed it, "New Mc Meals". Then he changed his Bluetooth's name to Mc Donalds News and sent to mobile user, "Rocky" via Bluetooth. The expression on the dude's face was indeed priceless. He couldn't have guess where it came from

strange, had more bluejackings when i had motos (discoverable only for 1 minute). i guess people would see you scanning so they'd join in also. no good when it's in yer pocket.
getting old for this lark except sending goatse & similar to unsuspecting work colleagues. what fun

One friend of mine had a samsung with bluetooth FTP (same function as bluetooth hack) and his name was PIN:1234.
You should see people faces, they were like sheeps entering the code!

Some but not "most" SE phones crash when viewing this image, however a simple restart (no need to remove battery) "fixes" the phone. The problem won't recur unless the person tries to view the image again. Your story is wildly exagerated.
Once again you have demonstrated your complete lack of any real experience of SE phones and prove that you simply repeat every myth about SE you read without any first hand knowledge.
the image was designed from the outset to crash SE phones. It's possible to do the same for any phone (or a computer for that matter).

Now that's a truly ingenious and hilarious hack! Classic!

I had a similar even happen. Me and my buddy were at Denny's and i took a ridiculous photo of him. he wanted to send it to his phone. But i had a bunch of "Unknown" devices so i just picked one to send the photo to. Lo and behold some random lady whips out here phone and takes a peak, and looks around with a confused look on her face, she then looks at my friend who reenacted the face he made when i shot the photo.

Yeah one long time living thread.

16-12-2002 - almost 6 years! I think it's possibly the oldest thread on esato. I think the term "bluejacking" was invented in this thread by the author ajack.
So it's a part of mobile phone history

I use an app called bt info. Lots of great stuff you can do with that.
Heres some useless ones:
read the phone ur hacking's model number
read it's temperature
read its battery level
turn off its bluetooth (I dont even know why they would put that one in
Heres some not so useless ones:
turn off silent mode
make the phone play music
make calls using their phone
download their sms
turn off their phone (my favourite!

what's the difference?
Posted by jekabssk8
I've heard that phones nowadays are hard to bluejack.
Is that true?
What kind of permissions phones usually ask when trying to send note to
bluejacking victim?
Posted by nvkid909
yes they are. they usually just ask if you wanna accept the file.
some people on here are bullsh**ting about BT INFO. i totally paired my K800i to my W890i, 'allowed' it as much as possible... the reports came back saying "this phone is not vulnerable to attack". that's after i fully allowed it. why have some people on here STILL got a raging boner over this cheesy software that does nothing to modern phones? infact, this & latest SE phone, BT INFO even prompts to make your phone visible before you try anything. not very stealthy, is it.
