Its not a breach of security at all. SE just like their phones to send the entire contact (including picture, ringtone etc), and not just the actual text contact itself.

Its just bluejackers abuse that ability to have fun.

Dont worry about scaring grannies - not many old people have Bluetooth phones.

@etaab Yes, as far as I'm concerned my p910i is a pain in the a**e. Had nothing but trouble since I got it 9 months ago, this is the third one I've had, each replaced under warranty and now this one is playing up. Turns itself off and reboots for no reason, now I've re-installed xp on my computer it won't synch with outlook etc, battery life is appalling if you use the bluetooth for any length of time, ie trip to Nottingham approx 1.5hrs with head set then phone on silent for 6hrs then trip back with headset and the battery needs charging as its down to 15%. Its a pain because when it works its great but its just so unreliable!! Will be changing to an XDA on O2 in a few months, wont be buying another p910!

Sorry to hear that Bammers.

I have to agree with you on this, grannies usually don't have bluetooth phones. Also, I notice most senior citizens usually memorize the phone numbers, so bluejacking them with a vCard may not frighten them at all since they don't use the contacts.

@Amd. How can you transfer something into your phone, which does not have a BT in itself?

Posted by amd1129

This message was posted from a T610

if its a phone w/o BT, IR or cable

Posted by etaab
Well, remember the T68i goes hidden after 2 minutes if i remember right, so you'll need to pair your phone with your pc before you're able to send anything to it without making it visible.

Posted by Residentevil
Still, there are still not enough bluejackables around.

Posted by etaab
Oh i dont know, i had huge success today bluejacking people who walked past me whilst waiting for the women to come out of the shoe shop(s).

This thread is way old!

@aJack:
finally i finished reading this thread from page 1 up to here, too much fun.

here in KSA almost all ppl are using bricks (Nok*a). one day i was in McDon**ds, one guy ordered a real huge meal. i took out my p910, started searching for his mobile which was Nok*a 9500 (i hate that device it sux and hangs alot), and after 10 sec i got it. sent him "r u sure u can eat all of this?", he accepted it and when he red it he was surprised, started to look arround and fortunately didn't notice me, so he returned back eating. again i sent "Can u drink that big coke too?",
he got confused, and shouted "YES I CAN, WANNA BET", i sent again "why not, by the way get SE", he started saying out loud "I WILL, I SWARE I WILL I HATE THIS SH*T JUST GET OFF ME"

i barely could stop my self from laughing, i finished my meal and went out, got into my car and started laughing, he also went out and saw me alughing, he knew that was me so i just took my p910 up and pointed at it, he said ok i will.

after a week i saw him again, in the same place, same meal, different mobile "P910" he didn't notice me, i sent him "Nice Mobile, Nice Meal"
he was happy and started looking for me, when he saw me he said "Thank you, this is way better than that SH*T"

Cheers,

I was in my local fast food place in Dublin yesterday when I got an incoming application sent to me from a nokia 9300, I looked around but I couldn't see anyone with a large brick in their hand! It was called _jopsi1

I didnt know what this was so I pressed view on my P910.

It then asked me if I wanted to install CommWarrior. Is this a virus?

Heres what came up on the screen,

Any Thoughts

Posted by amd1129
It could be possibly be one

Posted by etaab
Yes it was a virus, however i dont think it would have installed on your P series. Commwarrior is only meant to infect S60 phones.

Posted by dgilmartin
Why would someone do that? F**king B**tards! Lucky it doesn't work on my phone!

Posted by amd1129
What does that virus do?

Posted by etaab
Read the link i posted for more info.

Really it simply replicates itself by sending itself out to people in your contacts list as a MMS message. Which costs you money.

It also includes The text "OTMOP03KAM HET!" is Russian and means roughly "No to braindeads".

What is worth noting is that if installed, the virus sends itself to other Bluetooth phones without the owner knowing.

So, if his 9300 was infected (im not sure if it can infect the 9300, but its possible) it would have been sending the virus without him even knowing.

I'd edge my bets on the owner knowing though, some people out there do send out mobile viruses for a laugh.

yup...there are no known viruses ( yet ) which infect UIQ

Posted by amd1129
Lucky UIQ users!!! :-D

Posted by etaab
£10 says there is a virus which would infect UIQ, we're just not aware of it yet.

Posted by Residentevil
There should be some software available, that answers to those kinds of viruses and then nukes the senders phone and renders it useless.

Posted by etaab
I dont think that would be possible over a simple Bluetooth connection.

Posted by amd1129
Its quite possible :-). I dont think any app can render a fon useless via bt

Make your mind up, first you say it is, then deny it can.

It cannot be done unless there is a major bug in the phones OS that is sending the virus.

Posted by amd1129
Sorry the first line tells of the UIQ virus possibility

Posted by etaab
For it to be possible, someone would need to write an app that exploits a known bug or problem in the phone that sends the virus, and use it against it.

Of course, then you could use it against any phone with the same bug, regardless of whether it was sending you a virus or not.

Like if you walk through a restaurant, it will automatically b/jack every1 who has their bt on???

Posted by etaab
It'll try to.

To change what message it sends, go to Settings / Default file.

You can also change the time interval (set it to 1/60 for best results).

You can view all devices it bluejacks in the sent list.

Its like Sman for your K750i.
