Did you if a pal of ur's has a nokia communicator or something like that you can view his files vai BT using ur se i use k700i for this. Ofcourse you need to pair 1st and then you can download files without permission and delete also....
aybe you knew this but nokia phones don't have that feature....

No they dont. Now, im not an expert Nokia user, but some people have said they've done it, but i forget how.
If you really want to, you'd have more luck asking on a Nokia forum.

Hi,
anyone no what this is, I was in a theatre, in fact, I was in the sound booth operating the mics etc, but thats beside the point, and then some one bjacked me, so I checked my phone, and they were trying to send me something.
I accepted it, as it was small, probably a pic or something, then, as soon as I pressed, 'yes,' it went away, and then my phone kept on popping up with the message and vibrating constantly, almost like spamming, and it was ridiculous, I had to restart my phone, and when I did, it just came up once, and then it didn't work???
Really strange, almost like an annoying spamming attempt.
Anyone know of anything like this?

Posted by etaab
Yes, anyone can spam if they have the right kit. Any Bluetooth PDA can do it, or phone capable of sending unlimited numbers of things by Bluetooth.
I often do it for a laugh. I have 50 phonebook contacts on my PDA, i highlight them, and choose to send them by Bluetooth. Then, any phone capable of receiving more than one contact at a time starts beeping like crazy. Nokia 6310i phones are particular favourites, you can spam them with up to 10 contacts at a time. When the phone owners deletes a contact, they receive another, and another, and another.
Did it say what they were trying to send you ?
Posted by Chazzer3
No, but it came up as incoming item, 49kb, free space 12908kb, (or something like that), so it was obviously an image, a sound, or a TXT file, so it was more than likely to be a PDA, and also, it was not a contact, I don't think.
Posted by etaab
It could have been a contact with picture or sound attached for 49kb, but more likely just a picture.
Some phones attempt to send again straight away if the connection fails, that would explain why you were being spammed to accept.
Posted by max_wedge
@Chazzer3
What phone were you using? You should make sure you don't have the cabir virus!!
Check this link: http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/cabir.shtml
Doesn't sound like it, but I'd make sure otherwise you might find you are now spamming other people
Posted by etaab
But the Cabir virus only affects S60 phones, not UIQ phones like the P series.
Posted by max_wedge
I know this, which is why I asked what phone he was using
And also why I said doesn't sound like it.
But look at his avatar, then look at his signature, they are not consistant, so why would I assume that he is using the P, or any of his other phones listed?
Posted by Chazzer3
I'm not worried about the S60 virus, I am using the K700i, the P900 is purely for a change, as I always liked it, and at one time was going to get it, then never did, P910i though, and that is guten ja?

Guys do u know the nokia restarting move? dont laugh if this was mentioned ages ago.. im just checking
Posted by max_wedge
Chazzer3, ah, that explains it
Yes nokia could become the microsoft of phones, common but virus ridden
Posted by Chazzer3
Yeah, but what is the Nokia, restarting move?
Posted by Mocky
does any one agree with the statement of mine below?
Posted by Bammers
not getting into that, I've already told Miss Uk that she is always right, along with all other women in this world! If you want a quiet life, they are always right!
I tried sending about 50 pics from a v500 to a K700i the other day in one chunk via BT but all it sent was one pic then crashed. Was it because the K700 wldnt accept more than one file at a time or was it something else?
Posted by etaab
The K700i only accepts 1 contact per time, but i think pictures are pretty much unlimited.
It was probably a problem with the V500 sending, rather than the K700i receiving.
@ max_wedge, well the majority of people tend to have their avatar as the phone they have. Theres only a select few who keep their avatars as either a retro phone or one they dont even have.
Posted by Bammers
@etaab thanks for that. Kept crashing the K700i, was annoying as I was trying to do a reset on the V500 and had to move everything one at a time. It would let me "mark" all the items and then when I tried to "move selected items" it fuc*ed it right up (the K700)!!!!
Posted by etaab
I've never had that with a SE phone. Normally, everything works fine with Bluetooth for me.
Maybe your K700i needs a firmware update to fix any radio issues
Posted by Bammers
was a bit strange, thought it was the V500 though, is getting on a bit! Although if I try and send stuff to the K700 from my P910 more than a few times it does seem to crash the phone! So maybe it is the K700!

The tabbed nickname manouver (nokia restart):
Basicaly this works with any device containing a qwerty or any other type of keyboards that include the "tab" button. So you can do the trick using Pxxx. What you do is, place at least two tabs between ur nickname.
e.g Ericsson---> Eri(tab)css(tab)on
Steven----> St(tab)ev(tab)en
This will appear as Eri css on
and St ev en
The tab button in the Pxxx keyboard is in the "123" section in the left top corner and appears as two arrows opposite each other.
When you have set your tabbed nickname and have turned on bluetooth, any Nokia device within your vicinity that does a bluetooth search, will cause it to restart as soon as it finds your tabbed nickname. Your nickname will not appear though on their screens, so basically they will not know what the hell is happening if they haven't heared of this trick.
Why does this happen? It appears that Nokia phones cannot read tha "tab" character, so the Nokia phones decide that the best thing to do is restart itself
cheers
Posted by Chazzer3
Awesome, think I might be trying that one with my P910i!
Cheers!
Posted by Bammers
lol me too!
Like the idea of that!
Posted by etaab
It doesnt work on my phones..
Posted by max_wedge
@etaab, wasn't trying to be smart or anything.
I hope no-one thought I was being presumpteous. Look at some of the people on this post link who claim viruses for mobiles aren't possible!!
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=40453&start=0
@Chazzer3, sorry if I cast aspersions on your phone or knowledge dude, that was not my intention.
Sorry to diverge from the topic. I will shut up now

Trying to find those "tab" characters on my P910i, any idea what they look like? Only got a dot, square and c/o in my top left hand corner!
Posted by Rocky B.
He means the virtual keyboard like you get in the jotter, not the P910 qwerty flip keyboard.

@Max_Wedge:
No problem mate, I probably am a little confusing, I mean I can confuse people in conversation very easily indeed, sometimes to too much of an extent!
Anyway, had a good bluejacking go at the Airport the other day, a table of Pilots, (4), sitting behind me just chatting, did a search, found 4 x 6310i's, 2 x T610, a 6230, an 8310? (WTF? But I think you can get a pack that incorporates BT into older nokia phones, I remember seeing it somewhere), and a few names! BJacked most of them, with:
'Have a good flight'
Most people got very confused, as I was in a Coffee place, and all the people were relatively near me, and I could see their expressions, (gotta love it!), and the pilots got really confused, as most of them were obvious technophobes, and had no idea whatsoever on what was going on.
Also accidentally managed to BJack my friend who had changed their phone name by accident : Woops!
Some people went up to the coffee counter, and showed them their phone, asking, "Is this a new service from C*sta Coffee?" OMG, I had to leave it was so funny!

I had a corker the other day in the shopping centre, mines set to "virus installed" and got a Nokia (cant remember what) but I heard it bleep and was looking around when this old bloke starts going off at his missus over a virus on his phone! I had to leave I was going to burst out laughing! Normally I'd follow it up with something funny but thought it best to leave quickly!
ps thanks for clearing up the "tab" situation!
Posted by max_wedge
those two bluejack stories are classic. I would've been rofl without a doubt
Posted by Bammers
does make me laugh, all the tries when you dont get anything are worth it when you get some technophobe who either sits there totally confused or goes off on one trying to figure it out!! Its really difficult not to laugh!

Used tabbing today
Scenario: Sitting in starbux and overhearing this conversation:
Dude1: Hey man check out this ringtone I got.
Dude2: Dude that's really a cool one, send it to me.
Me---> Evil grin and turns on tabbed nickname.
Dude1: oops my phone resarted gimmie a sec.
Dude2: ok sure
Dude1: Wtf? its restarting again?
Dude2: Man I think you have a virus
Dude1: No kidding! I just got it back from the service center!
Dude2--> Making a BT search
Dude2: Hey you moron, you transfered your virus to me now!
Dude1: huh?! wtf u talking about?! i didnt do anything.
Dude2: Well its a virus so it sends itself obviously you moron
Really had a difficult time hiding my laugh!
