I agree with you there it should go down in history and maybe even an entry in the dictionary
Ive had a succession of bluejacks in Farringdon station in london and on the trains! It's great.
I think I frightened someone the other day as they had a 6310i.....so I sent "The matrix has you" as a contact....I heard it beep and then did another "radar scan" and lo and behold they switched it off

Anyone else having problems with Bluejacking from a P900?
Last night I was in a big shopping centre, waiting for the wife to come out of yet another fashion store, and I thought "Ooooh, I know what I'll do to fill the time!"
But about half the Bluejack's I attempted failed. I can't remember the message but it was something along the lines of "Failed to transfer item to Nokia3650". People were in a hurry, so I can't be sure that they didn't just walk out of range too quickly, but one in particular was still visible when I scanned for devices again.
Any ideas? It kinda killed my fun last night, and the wife took a..g..e..s

Everyone has had problems bluejacking N3650s, no one knows why though...

Well I bought a t610 about 3 weeks ago from T-Mobile (the only good carrier for the t610 in the U.S). I happened to chance upon this thread. Ajack, thanks for all the fun i'm having with my phone.
What sucks in the U.S. is that all the new phones seem to come out 3 months later than other countries, and the new nokias seem to be bluejack-resistant. Is it just me or are the bricks really that hard to bluejack?

I finally had my first Bluejack the other day... It happened on Arlanda Airport in Sweden while I was waiting for my flight to Frankfurt. I was sitting at the gate waiting, so I take out my new Motorola A835 (Sorry, it's not an SE but the 3G operator in Sweden is just too cheap, i had to get it) and do a scan for any phones. To my delight, 1 device is found and it is a Nokia 6310i. I sent the phone a contact, can't clearly remember what it was, but it said that it was successful. To my surprise, the phone gives a little double beep and the girl sitting right opposite to me takes out the phone. At this point I'm thinking I'm screwed, but I had forgotten I was dealing with Nokia owners who have no clue what goes on. Anyways, to end this up, she has the most confused face and then she says something to a guy next to her who also has a completely confused face. It was just funny to see these two people have no clue what happened. I will enjoy bluejacking in the future, thank you ajack!

Not true! We do know why. It's because newer Nokias like the 7650 and 3650 must have confirmation from the user to accept the phone book contact. Most other models also need this confirmation, but these other models alert the user by 'bleeping'. Some newer phones like the 3650 only bleep once the user has confirmed the request, so unless they are looking at the screen of their phone it's very unlikely that they'll see your message.

aka death of blue jack fun when all phones have this feature
we'll only be able to catch curious users with the phone in their hand or in a quite environment and that phone having beeping facilities.

Posted previously at BlueJackQ.com :
"Since I upgraded to a P900 I decided that I didn't really need the T610 any more and with my mum and dad both wanting it I decided it'd be better to give it to my new girlfriend who up until this point had a Mars Trium or something. I now have that Trium just to house on one of my sims temporarily and use my P900 as my main phone.
Anyway so after I got it all unlocked etc I gave it her along with some extra air time and some other ickle pressies.
She took it and I went to get drinks, I decided to teach her how to blue jack... she'd already seen me playing about with it on previous days and so by the time I'd got back and was about to give her a lesson she had already figured out how to turn Bluetooth on and off and renamed the phone Harry.
Okay so I briefly ran through it one time and she played about with it. No victims were found and we had to leave to go to another pub. She was a lil disappointed but in an extremely romantic move (if I do say so myself) I set my P900 to send out the message "CHRIS <3 LISA" using S-Man to any blue tooth enabled devices we passed on the way to the next pub.
Anyway skip ahead a few days and I call her after work and ask her how her day was... she fills me in and then adds... "Oooh I BlueToothed four people today!".
Apparantley when she was playing pool with her friend someone in the pub had a phone named Stu, then on the bus she got a 6310i and also spotted a T610 user to whom she sent "Hello!".
You can imagine how proud I was... but now... she's into in a big way, read on.
Right we had an arguement last night and today I had some apologising to do so I made the trip to Notts to meet her and bought her some flowers before ringing her to see where she was.
She giggled and said "The mobile phone shop."
I asked which one and she told me that it was ToMo so I went there... sure enough there she was scanning every minute or so for new devices.
Its become so bad that she gets disappointed with me sometimes for not leaving my BT on... she likes to BlueJack and doesn't care who it is.
I have showed her this site earlier and the original Esato thread and she got lots of ideas from reading the stories and I informed her that if she stands on the right hand side of the doors outside ToMo in future she can get the N-Gage on display at the front of the store.
Just thought I'd share.

I had a successful bluejack at my husband's work's Christmas function last night.
I sent "Merry Christmas" to a 6310 (I don't know what happened to the i). I followed that with "Nice Phone" (because it's bluejackable.
My husband and I were on table 10 and the victim was diagonally opposite on table 7. I watched as the woman passed her phone to her husband and they both looked amused.
As this was a formal evening, I sent, "Nice tux" followed by, "The Band Are Good. Yeah?" (we were listening to a good live band).
Again, they were amused but surprisingly they weren't looking around so I'm guessing they didn't realise that these messages were coming from somewhere closeby.
Thanks for reading.

well here's another of my adventures in bluejacking.
Was in my local pub having a birthday drink on sunday when i did a scan and found a p900 , i quicly spotted the phone owner typing texts nearby . Having recently re-named my phone "god" i sent her the note "and the geek shall inherit the earth , congratulations on your inheritance " . She accepted the transfer and began laughing and glancing around her so i looked down at my feet and hid my phone . When the coast was clear ui sent another message "i like your furry coat " then kept my head down and my phone in my pocket but when i glanced up she was looking at me and laughing , unable to contain my self i let loose a big guffaw and she was fine about it . A little later i did another scan and found another p900 as well as the ladies so i promptly bluejacket it as well only to find out it was the ladies husbands phone and he had just arrived to meet up with her so obviously she was able to solve his little mystery as to where the phantom note had come from . The moral of the story ? know when to quit

The P900 is a very easy bluejack target i find, with bt on and phone visible, you just send what you want and it accepts it and it's stored in the beamed messages folder. ls there any way to prevent this without switching phones bt visibillitly off?

Posted by morbodestroys
I havent found it harder. I've found it easier!!!
Theres a lot more sony ericssons showing themselves out there. Maybe we feel the need to be bluejacked maybe? I dont know. Maybe it is an xmas thing were people are buying phones as earlier xmas presents for themselves?
Still waiting for 3 to release phones which are fully BT compliant. They need some a$$ whooping
Merry Xmas all.

Posted by Retrix
@alex nice one... did he know it was you???
@all i might be looking at a t610 on monday or tuesday... im am looking forward to that almost as much as a child is looking forward to christmas...
Posted by alex_ng_003
hey i got a problem i try ns end a contact and it shows a person and it is lsites as " unknown" everytie but wen i try 2 send ti saods connecction failed??
Posted by Retrix
@alex
the unknown prolly means that the phones are not close enuff to get an id, and the message failed is either same as above or it went out of range...
what you must remember is that most SE phones have the last phone you tried sending to at the top of the list wether or not it is in range...
hope this helps...

@ retrix:
oh k fanx retrix for da help

Happy advance new year guys. Catch ya all again in 2004. Cheers n happy bluejackin!
Posted by ajack
has anybody noticed that lately more and more SE phones (especially the T610) seems to be the victim of bluejacking? I can only assume that due to the way new SE phones are designed, you can make your phones discoverable indefinitely unlike the older models "more secure" design of lasting only three minutes in discoverable mode.
Or... SE users were themselves ignorant before but using the "more secured" older phones and when they upgraded to a newer phone was not aware of bluejacking.
Or... the horde of NOk*a users who have joined the "light" side and become SE users and not know about bluejacking.
Duhh.... why is my SMan log nowadays showing mostly T610 and Palm users as victims!?!?! Damn...
I'm all ears to your theories... comments...
Posted by Dj Boyi
Must be because t610 is very popular now and nokia users are converting to the t610 and still not turning
I've had a few myself ajack, and i kept thinking, damn,my phone is named club nokia (wishing it was named t610 again
Anyway, happy new year to all bluejackers

I tried sending a dirty picture to a random 7650 in the tech canteen, but the file was rejected!
If i was to send a business card instead, can the recieving user have the option of refusing it or does it go straight through to his phone?

HELP ME FELLOW SE USERS!!!!!
After a bit of convincing, my dad finally got me a new phone after my old SL45 was stolen nearly a year ago. (ive been using an 8890 since then). I just got my p900 a couple of days a go and i read this thread last night. like a decent SE user, i decided to try it out earlier today. ALAS! whenever i had to connect to a BT user, i had to enter a passkey! i was confused so i looked it up in my manual. Then i found out that everytime i had to use BT, i had to enter a passkey that i and the owner of the paired device had agreed upon! which means no bluejacking for me! This cannot be!! is there no way to remove this need for a passkey? help me! help me!
o yeah, TTT
