on permanently... it's not a setting which 'allows you to be bluejacked' per se, it is a function for being able to connect to devices w/o enabling each and every time. bluejacking wasn't exactly envisioned when they designed it i'm sure.
nk phones do vary, i've used a 7650 in the past and don't believe that could be easily
jd in the traditional manner. However the 6310i can be done easily and it is one of their 'business' models (as opposed to their 'toy phone' and 'fashion' models-- business users are more likely to have tried connectivity functions than the average punter that just calls/ texts, i.e. to leave on.

boyi... I don't think they would be 6310i because I find alot of 6310i which identify themselves as such. Sometimes the owner has been adventurous and changed it to Daves 6310i or Karens 6310i but thats about all. I have never found anything that identifies itself as just phone. perhaps thats what happens when the phone name cannot be found although my T610 says unknown in these cases.

You've all mentioned the best bluejacks you've done, but I'm wondering about the best way to avoid / deter would-be bluejackers.
Any thoughts on the following:
So far I've tried renaming my phone to a single space character so you can't see any name listed on discover, although the phone icon is still there. I've also tried naming my phone as 'Unknown' so they think the phone's not in range.
Reason for this is theres a mate at work who's constantly trying it on with bluetooth devices. Ok it was fun at first, but theres only so many times he tries it until it really takes the piss. - Whats the best way to get our own back on them?

Its no real issue, just a minor annoyance. Why should we have to stop using BT to get work done whilst he's in the area.
Don't get me wrong, I think Bluejacking is great - but so are donuts and anyone who eats 20 of them in one go is being excessive. - get my drift?
Would be nice if you could block recieving from certain phones, but thats not how it was designed.
We could turn BT off on all our kit, but that just means he's won. Was looking for a way of countering this, but I guess there isn't one.
Unfortunate if somehow he 'lost' his phone tomorrow. Shame cos its a nice P800.

@ Gubbage: maybe I'm missing something (or the T610 is different) but the advantage of S-E phones in BlueJacking terms is that they can be ON for BT whilst being OFF for 'discoverable' (usually 'discoverable' for 3 mins only).
Blokias are good victims cos they don't have a choice- ON for BT means ON for discoverable too.
Perhaps check your settings; or maybe your friend IS taking the piss...
... or maybe he REALLY LIKES you!
@ all: I get lots of "phone" hits and also "Dave's 6310" also.
"phone" may simply be an indicative but savage indictment of the mind-shattering imagination of the typical Nokia user.

i can bluejacking with an Ipaq 3970 and can save all bluejacked mobiles with the MAC Adress. With this device can i trace other devices and can see if he have his name changed. I can see if a device receives at the first time or i have it seen more often.

Unfortunatly the bluejacking software (sman) is only available on p800. I thought when the phone is on the edge of bt view it says unknown not phone

i went lucky yesterday night...i was drunk at this club....so i started to search for other BT devices
i found a t610 if i remember correct
and i BJ him by sending him my visit card excludin numbers etc with only a text that said: MY T610 IS BETTER THEN URS PUNK!
but someway and somehow i forgot to delete my celly number. So he recieved a msg that said that text AND my number...so i sort of Blue jacked my self...hehe
just thought to share this with others...DO NOT BLUE JACK WHEN UR DRUNK LIKE A MOFO!!!

i was with one of my friends and we tried the bluejack thing , and it didnt work ...

hey there, dont know if any1 else has discovered this, but i have found another way to blue jack some1
I discovered that if u press the more button and go into post note, add the text u want to say and then click ok, the scroll down and highlight the text u entered and then the more button again, go into send then via bluetooth, i did this today and it seemed to work fine, im not sure if the reciever has to click an accept button tho, any1 have any ideas on this issue, cheers

Ok ok.. I think certain nokia phones are highly bluejackable..hehe.. certain are not.
I've bluejacked a Nokia 3650 before, on the train. damn funny. and I think these Nokia 3650 are highly probable targets coz I have been scanning many of them.
One thing I realised is that putting our phone to visible is a good option coz the 2 phones I've bluejacked are pretty ladies.. hehe.. Yes. .& I mean it. That way the bluejacked people can message back. Too bad I did not put my phone to visible those times

FINALLY, i bluejacked someone yesterday and i knew who it was...i have been BJ'ing people but i would never know whom i did till yesterday...well it was a normal BJ since it was in a tmobile store. i was looking for a case for my t61x, then i see this 50 year old man, trying to show off with his t610...he looked like he was proud of it...LOL...i did a fast scan and to my surprise i found him in my radar. i sent him the" i m watchin u" card...when he got it, he was already standing next to the customer rep...then he looked at her, and said : what is this? then the rep told him, well someone sent u a card...then he was like a card!@?!?! then he turned around and started laughing without knowing it was me
LOL...i feel bad for BJ'ing a SE, but man, i had to do it, plus he looked like he wanted to show it off poor old man
