Hi Guys
Have applied for a job in Vodafone retail and wondering if there's anyone out there who works for vodafone?
I have just this minute passed the telephone interview and I'm awaiting my call now for the second part which will be a role play excercise
Anyone got any info on this?
Cheers

What type of questions did they ask you in the 1st Stage?
Phones4U keep phoning me up everytime they do this im out they messed me about last year when I applied so I don't know if it's worthwhile ringing them up now or what!
I applied to Vodafone some weeks ago as there after Xmas Temps,
either they've got all the staff they need by me or there after somebody with Retail/Sales experience something ive not got much of
Anyway plenty more jobs outhere,
Ive been offered 2 Jobs at Hotels already but the hours suck
Posted by fatevdestiny
They just ask about experiences really. Like what is your biggest achievment, when have you had to handle customer complaints.
Just stuff like that but they expect big long sentences about it.
Why dont you try applying for another network? Just check out there site and click careers. Thats what I done
Good luck with the job searching

just some knowledgement with vodafone products and services is required.
besides that a commercial thought and beeing kind to customers are most important
if you can do that you're allright

do any of the mobile phone retail shops take school students(16 years old)?

I applied at CPW but theres nothing round my Area present,
with them all I say is try and cover up your Gaps on your CV cos they don't like that. The first time I applied with them that let me down there also looking for Skills, If I were to get some Retail Experience ahead of me then im sure i'd have a better chance without it your pretty much Boycotted
Btw I did notice CPW have a Job in Glasgow on there website,
why don't you apply for that aswell
ive applied for Virgin Mobile a Temp Sales Consultant just trying to get it for the experience cos I and apply for others while im gaining that
Turns out Vodafone have nothing in my area present anyway checked there website the careers section and not a thing for Brierley Hill
btw it's quite exciting sending your CV off Employers on the net,
you don't know what your gonna get till they phone you up or respond to you via Email.
Im eager to know what they'll tell me from Dudley Zoo

Dudley zoo ? are they short on exhibits Miss UK
Posted by Miss UK
Just thought i'd try anywhere I emailed them to see whether they had any Vacancies as they have the Shop + Resturant..
I don't think i'd be given a job working with the animals cos you need some Degree for that, I did some Work Experience @ The Birmingham Nature Centre which was great though

Think she missed my pun, or tactfully ignored it
Posted by fatevdestiny

Good job its not Vodafone Call Centre job as i heard about Vodafone staff in Birmingham call centre moaning about the way they were treated. Good luck anyway wish i could get a retail job like that i did try with Orange but got nowhere. I would love to be working and playing with latest phones. Lol. Whenever i have walked into Vodafone store lately the staff are made to say when you enter the store "Hello how can i help you and what brings you into our store today". Good service but when you actually do want help nobody comes to you. Lol.

I was gonna add a remark but the better of me didn't display it here
Yeah im sure i'll get the right job after working for pitance I exspect to earn a little bit more
Ive got a lot of experience of alot of stuff I think i'd have to copy and paste my CV here for you lot to see
I need Retail Experience though,
I worked at Tesco for 3 weeks years ago,
I was a Manager of a Cafe for a friend of the family thats not retail thought thats just copeing with Customers
I also worked for a Primary school as a Dinner lady again coping with Kids this time
Goodluck with CPW mema what I told you though "Gaps" forget it
Phones4u are Vulchers don't know how i'd get on with that job but they messed me about last year as I said don't know what to do ..
the hours of work and days by me revolves by working 7 Days a week till late I just don't fancey working Sundays I want a day off each week!
Posted by fatevdestiny
Well Miss Uk manager of a cafe does count as customer service and working for 3 weeks in retail is better than none at all.
I hate the fact that everyone these days wants "previous experience in retail"
For all those who are just starting out it makes it virtually impossible to get the experience needed
Posted by Miss UK
the Manager parts on my CV but the Tesco parts not I didn't see any reason to add it as it was 3 weeks work
My CV is 2 pages present and Employers don't look if its
more pages then that
02 were impressed by my application but no manager rang me back,
I think the shop closed down in Dudley Lmao!
Posted by fatevdestiny
Actually its better if you keep it to just the one page. Better chance of them looking at it. I had a mate that works in HR from my old work do mine to make it look good
I would defo stick the tesco on and state that it was a week to week contract by agency. Makes it look better
Posted by Miss UK
lol ive got so many jobs on my CV though + Education and College need to go on there
so im left with hardley any space,
Employers like my CV btw alot seem impressed by what ive achieved i'll have to get someone to look at it though as they do need updating alot
Posted by fatevdestiny
There will be someone on here thats a genious with cv's no doubt. Get them to have a look over it

i work at phones 4 u. And just want to add that i know it has a bad rep. But they are trying to sort things out and make more money per year than carphone warehouse and have the capabilities to put through some really great deals and also provide the means for ppl to get 12 month upgrades. I do agree that on entering you can often be set on by alot of salesmen but lets not forget it is a business and the figures show it works. Another good thing is that they now send all staff for a weeks training down at yarnfield and will tell you gt was one of the best experiences of my life. Also lets not forget the great commission structure and promotion programme. By the way i have only worked in the shop for 4 weeks but it is good. Though compared to other staff i am a phone expert as others only know main selling points. Bottom line i would recommend working for them
Posted by Miss UK
Phones4u by me work terrible shifts as the mall is open from 8am till 10pm monday to friday + weekends.. if I worked for them i'd wanna work for one store thats open mon 2 saturday
someone did look over my cv here and said it was good so
btw how old are you @ Favs
Posted by fatevdestiny
Well my local phones4u is only open till half 5 so that aint so bad but it is open 7 days a week.
I'm only 21 Miss Uk. Would ask you but never ask a women her age, esp not in a public topic
Posted by frank2345babies
basically where i work phones 4 u. Is open pretty much till half 5 except on late night thursday. But i end up working most weekends but dont really mind as this is when the best chances for commission come up. But dont get me wrong. I dont just aim for commission. But it a good byproduct to getting people a good deal. Where you from anyway. Miss uk?
Posted by Miss UK
I only asked your age cos your CV is one page lol
21 is pretty young so when you get abit older you will have more to add to it, im 29 and yes my CV's abit OTT
My mate made a remark about it a few weeks ago saying Darm Girl bet your CV is huge it pretty much is
I live in the West Midlands my local Phones4U is Merryhill (Brierley Hill)
they have alot of Jobs at that store but it's open twilight shifts so no wonder its advertising "Sales Consultants" galore
Btw Opening hours are to 10pm over Xmas and resume back to 7pm,
but the place is open 7 days a week
Stourbridge Phones4U would be a ideal one for me to work at its small and the opening hours are 8am till 5.30pm
theres nothing at that shop yet though ive toured the website,
I never rang up the interviewer I know I should really it been 3 weeks now I just don't fancey working at the Merryhill shop till 10pm
Posted by fatevdestiny
Lol am only young
Well Miss Uk maybe you should go for the longer hours one. Cause its just a stepping stone. Maybe that way after a wee while ul get good hours.
Always get crappy stuff when ya first start a job
Posted by Miss UK
I honestley wish I took the Job at the Hotel this week it
was offered to me on a plate
I'll give the woman a phonecall tomorrow i'll just say ive been away on Holiday even though she called me last week then week before that
Posted by fatevdestiny
Yeh there aint no harm in trying
Dont get anywhere with just sitting back doing nowt
Posted by Miss UK
True but they messed me about last time so I dunno lol
don't know why they never phone my home number,
they withold the number aswell which pee's me off it's bloomin annoying trying to scribble a contact number down from your answerphone
Posted by fatevdestiny
Yeh I hate that aswell
I sometimes dont answer withheld numbers and have missed a few important calls because of that. Most of the calls though are sales calls which does ma nut in

Umm, ok, where to start...
They have a bad rep for alot of reasons, and lots of sales people jumping on you and the 'we make more money than everyone else and it shows' attitude is another.
Yes, all companies are out there to make money, some are more successful than others, but just because P4U are making more money, doens't make it a 'nice' place.
I'm filled with dread every time I have to go into a P4U store, mainly because I HATE being pounced on every ten seconds (once isn't so bad, but all the time?), but I also find it kinda funny, you guys no almost nothing about phones. I ask them a simple question and they come back with some of the most irrellevant but most sales-based answers I've ever heard.
And this isn't one store, it's every P4U store I've ever been to.
If their going to clean up their act, they need to start again, from stratch.
Back to topic, Vodafone:
I had an interview with them, face to face, and it was a compentency (spelling?) based interview. You know the type with "think of a time when you had to do X and how did you solve it and what was the outcome" style questions.
Wasn't too hard, and if you have interview experience it'll be a breeze. Wearing a suit is a good start, even though they have moderatly scruffy uniform, a suit will make you stand out (in a good way).
However, I wouldn't wholey recommend working with them, their not bad, but I've just got an unknown grudge against them
Posted by fatevdestiny
I am quite good in interviews because I can think of answers very quickly and do have quite a polite interview voice
Still waiting on them getting back to me
Wonder how many people on esato actually work in mobile phone shops?
Posted by Miss UK
Daedulus, at Phones4U at Merryhill they have Sales People outside the shop running after folks, I always avoid the shop by walking on the other side
I went for a Interview with Vodafones Call Centre on Broad St about 7 years ago the interview was bit strange they sat us all down to see how well we would get on as a team, me being young at the time failed, and when they asked me if I had any Questions I just couldn't think of any ..
Im sure the call centre closed down last year or long before that anyway
PC worlds interview is done on a PC so if your gonna apply to them make sure you can use a PC folks
Posted by Miss UK
have you had any responses yet?
I still haven't rang Phonesforyou lol
now ive got Virgin Mobile on myy case if they phoned me up at beginning of month I would be rushiing to take the job however it's only temp
till xmas
I applied again for CPW unfortuantley tho so many people seemed to be intrested in the position and I never got it
Posted by fatevdestiny
Nah not got anything back so a take it they dont want me then
Suppose just gotta keep trying eh lol
Posted by fatreg
you have to pester them!!
it's the only way to get anywhere in life.
get on their backs, remind them that you called yesterday and the day before and before that.
It shows willing and a passion to fight! oh, and be firm!
"Hiya, I had a telephone interview a few days ago, and someone was organising a face to face one for me, I've not heard anything, can you please update me as to what's going on?
ta!"
Posted by Miss UK
Vodafones careers page seems to be down it goes past which role you want to apply for but then the site goes down lmao
ive heard from all mobile shops 2 are after me atm also lastnight I applied for T-Mobile placing my heart and sole into the space they say what motivates you to come and work for us
"Under consideration" atm..
I really wanted the job with CPW though utterley sad over the fact I didn't get it
wish I had seen it a few weeks earlier darm!!!!
