My phone and SEUS says that is has the latest software version on the phone but when i checked it with the list above it seems the software version i have is the first release. Can anyone help me?

Is your phone a branded one? If so then you will likely not find an update for your phone as long as your operator don't release a newer one.

Up to now you can't debrand W910 for free. So you shall wait until that becomes possible.

erm i don't know if its branded, how can i check?

Posted by pete910i
branded means having SP customisations. e.g vodafone icons or planet3 instead of media etc.
if u bought it straight from SP then its probably branded.

my phone doesn't really have any of them.
could there be any other reeasons why it would say it is up 2 date when it isn't?

1. Open up the Service Menu (by pressing >*<<*<* on idle screen)
2. Go to Service Info - Software Info
3. Look for Customization and tell me yours (for ex. mine is 1201-0083)

From that I can tell you whether your phone is branded

I've got a brand new W910i and i've bought it online, but unfortunately it's branded with some italian provider (and i'm dutch...). But anyway, my phone has the first firmware installed so the music quality of the walkman player, when you use the speakers to play music, is horrible. But there isn't an update available.... Is there a way for me to unbrand it for free of atleast not to much money? I haven't got a credit card so i can't use 'Top Sony'.

Thanks in advance.

Your CDA 12345678 is the WRONG format. Your phone has been flashed without CDA/CDF set correctly. SEUS will always reject the phone. Forever, if you do not change it to the corect format.
The good solution is www.davinciteam.com

is there no free way to do this?

No, have to wait until that becomes possible with XS++

i bought a brand new W910i two months back. had the restart problem then updated it to the latest firmware. phone was stable for some time then from last week onwards things have gone bizzare.my phone shuts down completely and stays that way if not turned on. the frequency is quiet high. 7-8 times an hour. i have to keep a constant wayth on the phone to ensure it is switched on. can onybody help me out of it. there has to be a solutuion. what the f**k are the developers at SE doing? why the hell they haven't come up with a solution till now. its been more than a year since the phone released.

Posted by tranced
well, you could start by checking if the battery is not set properly. the pins couldnt be doing contact.

Try to flash with a third party method. SEUS aint always the best method.

it really irritates me that everytime a phone has a problem people blame the firmware. If it was a firmware bug, then everyone with the same firmware would have the same problems. I've had the latest firmware for a while now and not a single restart or shutdown.

You should take the phone back under warranty. This is more than just a firmware bug.

Posted by tranced
true true. though same firmwares have had different issues.

but as max said, go and take it repaired/replaced if it's under warranty

Posted by max_wedge
I don't understand why someone with a 2 month old phone is running around trying to fix serious issues such as this with firmware updates?? I mean sure you try an update via SEUS, which is free and doesn't invalidate the warranty, but after if there are still problems you should be turning to the manufacturer for a solution as is your right under the law (not fit for purpose).

If they can't fix it then you are entitled to a replacement or your money back.

Anyone else with w910i, and or o2 experience delays in messages been recieved by other people, and or delays in recieving messages from people?

Could it be my sim is fookt!

Posted by max_wedge
most likely operator. I had a similiar problem with optus on both my K800 and W910 untill they got their shit together and it stopped happening.

Posted by superleeds27
Anything i can do?

Posted by max_wedge
talk to your operator

gna change it for another SE phone the day after tomorrow... a few buttons suddenly died lol, like the green call button, red call button, 2 special keys for the photos and not soon after the left softkey. i could still listen to music and play games, but its effectively a crippled phone now. wierd. that day, in the morning it was still working perfectly, and i just left it on the table as usual, and at night when i went out and grabbed it, i immediately knew something was not right lol. sigh, it died. lol.

lol, i tried everything including that and nothing works. i tried using SEUS to reflash it, but the C button doesnt work, and i even tried a master reset, twice and doesnt work ahaha. i've traded it in for a w980 now anyway

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Ah well, you got something better out of the ordeal. Good on you.

Posted by maaz2020
Does the w910 have the same prob like the K850i or r the probs solved

Posted by tyranusaurus
well, its a different case for everyone, for some like me last time they're solved completely, just occasional hiccups here and there, but for some they keep getting problems like those who keep complaining in this thread (lol) but ultimately part of it still depends on luck

even after getting the w910i's mother board replaced from the SE service center the phone is shutting down with the frequency of 4 to 5 times an hour.
getting a SE was a big mistake. and all u people who had criticised me for accusing the phone ...... how the f**k would u feel when u have shelled out 14k for a piece of crap and u know there is no fix.
i say the nokias are far better than the SE craps who just boast on their f**king walkman. ask those stupid morons to produce something that actually works. and just wondering who the f**k awarded it the best phone of the F**king year.

I'd say the complete opposite, never had anything but trouble with Nokia phones, but never had a single problem with my SE phones, including my W910i, which is crashed about twice in a year, and once was when I dropped it. This board is full of people with Sony phones that work perfectly, so they're obviously doing something right.

Clearly your phone has a problem, so obviously you should be angry, I would be too. But if it's still in warranty Sony have to either fix it, or if there's no fix for that phone, they have to replace it.

I completely understand your anger and frustration, but saying all SE phones are crap just because your W910i is crap is very over the top.

Debranded mine, and updated to R1FA035.

Can't say i can see major improvmentsz over the O2 R1FA030.

But still, i debranded!

When Sony Ericsson will release new firmware for W910i?

Posted by superleeds27
probably won't now

Posted by StevenC
I searched google and found that there's a R1FA037 but I think it is branded or it is available for Russia or something like it.

What's the difference between 037 and 035? Anybody knows if there are any improvements or driver updates within 037?

umm... i need help, my W910 is bricking!!

It won't turn on, and my computer doesn't recognize it... It lokks like i did something wrong on my modding...

what should i do to fix this problem??

Posted by alexlt
Have you tried SEUS??

Posted by eternal_wind
well yeah... I re-insert the battery and suddenly, my phone is detected... am i being lucky or what??

Finally, i ended up cancelling the update from SEUS (i even hadn't started yet), and re-mod my phone... I finally managed to delete unwanted (more like misplaced) files.... so far so good...

phew...
