thanks max. has any1 tried updating from their phone? wats the procedure must i do wat u do on a pc, go to s.e website or is there a different way to update when using your phone. also 1 more thing guys, i haven't actually bought it yet, so when i'm buying the w910i wat wil let me knw that it's a good handset the serial number?? i read from wiki that the last two numbrs on the imei means wat software the fone has, the higher the number the more likely it is to be bug free, coz ther are ppl who hav bug free w910i's other wise i can't explain how it ended up being voted best handset. so get the w910i or w890i ? i'm leading towards the w910i, if u guys were in my shoes which 1 would u choose?

w910i. my set's from the first batch and with the latest firmware its toally bugless doesn't really matter which batch u get, and as i said, it depends on ur luck too.

Posted by max_wedge
Mine is bugless apart from one little issue - when I've been using the media player for more than 20 mins or so it seems to kill the activity menu. I have to restart the phone to get the activity menu back.
Has anyone else noticed this behaviour?

Posted by ZeneticX
maybe dis may help to those hu get frequent restarts.i duno if it works for u but it does worked for me after i tried it out.switch off your phone daily whn you're not using it.(eg : going to sleep)reason is because it wipes out the current phone usage memory so that it leads to less crashes.

Hi Everyone

I got fed up with the fact that virgin mobile were never going to release new firmware back to sony ericsson so i went to davinci team and re-flashed mine and now i am happy with my w910

Posted by idumbakumar
Iam using 35 for more than 2 month nice firmware comparing to first release. But i'm facing reboots still but not as much as CA37. Another one when i'm using bluetooth headset DS200 the phone works like tortoise, pretty pretty slow. Will this be improved? I don't think. But the sound quality is ok.

Posted by Lyceum
How can I put my flash my firmware back to the release before R1FA035?

Updated a few weeks and it's started crashing. I've had the phone for about 6 months and had never had a single crash before updating to this firmware.

Hi, guys.

I dont know if its just me or anybody have this problems. I just update recently to new R1FA035. No old problems occured since then.

Yesterday i try to install some java games (.jar). But when i'm enter "Games" folder, all of the games icon i installed were "Doubled"? When i try to deleted one of the games icon it said "Operation Failed". So, why like that i wonder? ^_^

Anyway, the problem solved as i REUPDATE... AGAIN.. using those new firmwares.. Hope i dont have same problems agains in future.. It's such a pain in ass to install and settings all over again. LOL ^_^.

Oh, ok.. Thanks tyranosaurus for the info.. I did reupdate.. AGAIN.. yesterday and didnt have the problems anymore so far.. But i do hope it didnt happen again in the future.. LOL ^_^.

Thanks, but having looked at davinci I have no idea what firmware I need. Can someone help me out there?

I have a UK, unlocked, unbranded, black W910i. What firmware should I choose at davinci?

I want the one before R1FA035. I have searched but I can't seem to find it.

New problem with w910 R1FA035

-when you are speaking with phone, phone LEDs are blinking!!!

Is it my phone problem or it is firmware bug?? do you have this problem?

Posted by ZeneticX
during sound recording or normal speaking (calls)?

did the leds blink following yr voice or they jz blink?bcoz if they blink while u talk, its kinda cool IMO.

Normal speaking(calls)! but it doesn't do this every time only sometimes it is blinking during normal speaking!

and also they just blinking! they don't follow to anything

Posted by StevenC
The blinking leds is a bug but there is nothing serious with it. Actually my w910i has R1FA035 and the led does blink at times but not every time. Sometimes they blink when I put the phone on charge or... but once the screensaver is activated and the backlight goes off the blinking stops as well.

oh my phone often restarts just like many of you

Anyone else having issues with their "8" and "#"-keys not working all the time ? (which is extremely frustrating). Maybe I should send back to service for a 2nd time... I am using the latest FW R1FA035

Try master reset before sending phone to service... It may help you if the problem is software related.

Posted by pete910i
my phone wont let me send text messages :S
is this firmware or service provider related? i've never had a prob before.
im on the FA035 unbranded.
this phones really frustrating me! :@

Posted by aremaboy
For those experiencing problems, it is always advisable to run SEUS and reinstall the firmware again.

Posted by strizlow800
Do a master reset too... Or just go to your nearest service probider shop and ask them to solve the problem if the phone is still under warranty. Such problem may be caused by the SIM card, credit, expired sim or credit... No one knows, you better ask your operator first before trying to mess with the firmware.

hey striz. credit is not an issue as im on a plan/cap where theres no limit to how much u spend. nd i already did a seus nd the problem seems fixed as of now. not sure how long it'll last though. nd if i debranded by phone via da vinci do i need to rebrand it before i take it to my service provider?
thx mate

Yeah you'll need to rebrand it if you want it repaired on your warranty, because debranding voids your warranty, so you need to make it look like it never happened!

Correct... Rebranding should be done if you want to make sure they won't notice that your phone has been touched in firmware. In fact, you can search totalgsm's options to see if they offer rebranding for your phone.

is there a security lock for privacy on the w910i like the one that most nokia's have???

Posted by kiki13
hello guys,

i was wondering since ive read the last 20 pages of this topic and i was wondering is the w910i finally usable now? with the new firmware? does it still have bad reception and dropped calls?

i found this dealer who is selling one for like 370$... so i really like the phone i was wondering if it was safe to get one now since its from asia and i dont get a US warranty... but he did say that if something is wrong he would send it to the sony centre in California or something and i read some people sent theirs in and it works fine now?

i just wanted to make sure... because if its still messed up i might just get a Razr V8... for 330$... since it seems to have less problems... but the w910i looks really nice.

thank you

Oma

Flash it with totalgsm then. It is not free though.

@omama87

how do you check for new firmware? if you do it from the phone, don't rely on that. i've ALWAYS gotten the message that i have the latest firmware when i check from the phone. however, when checking from your PC, you will find the new versions available, if any.

current version is R1FA035.

i have no problems at all with my phone now and am very happy with it. mysteriously, i don't even get slow downs anymore, even when i play music, and restarts are extremely rare so i'm not complaining...

Posted by Vongola-Sky
my fone is at R1FA035 n my restart is ard 5-8 times per dae. im f**kin angry bout tis fone almost wan to smash it to pieces -.- "inactive sim" den restart and jus random restart..haiis sad bout tis firmware >:(

Hi, how can I check what firmware version I have on my W910i?

I have the unbranded & unlocked version from car phone warehouse (UK)

Posted by strizlow800
Check firmware verson by pressing the folowing kays combination from standby: >*<<*<*. Then go to service info/software info.. The first line you see there, it's your firmware version.

Thanks..

I did have R1EA030, I used the SE Update software which I downloaded, and now I have the R1FA035. Menu access seems alot faster! Any bugs, I'll post here.

That's no reason to tell someone else not to get one. You're very unlucky to have that problem, and I hope you can fix it by updating with SEUS or something, but not many other W910is will experience this problem, so its hardly a reason not to buy it!

i agree. as long as u update the phone to the newer software versions its pretty good phone imo.
of course i always bring this up....if u want something to snap pics with....i recommand u stay away for w910i as its camera is totally not worth its price
musics phone....awesome sexy sleek stylish

hi friends ,
i updated my s/w to R1FA035 yesterday,,,,, till now no reboots.
lets see how long...........
ok i apologise for getting a lil hyper with my previous reply,,, but it happens when you make a hole in your pocket to get something and it turns out that way. anyways hope it will work fine after the upgrade.

again i agree with @pete that the camera is not worth but the phone has a awesome walkman and sexy looks.
to all those who want to try their hands on this baby..... go ahead but be prepared for some hickups. enjoyyyyyyyyyyy

I finally got mine debranded properly.

I flashed Custom AU Red onto my black W910. 2nd try - first time it didn't flash the FS and I still had a vodafone right softkey. That's gone now.

Only thing I can tell that's different between the red and black firmware is the flash menu. Instead of the musaic.thm I had with the Vodafone branding I got eclipse.thm which is a single row menu.

R1F0A35 seems pretty stable to me.
