I am back again to share my experience in the R1EA033 firmware that I updated last week. I am quite amazed at the increase in battery power after updating to R1EA033. Right now my battery meter shows 16% and it's been more than 4.5 days since my last full charge (it's going to be 5 full days when I wake up tomorrow morning at this rate).
I have not noticed any new bugs with firmware R1EA033, and everything seem to be working fine for me (camera, walkman, call, text, etc..). Also, the menus scrolling seems a bit smoother/faster, but it's not a major boost in speed (still a bit of lag but since R1EA030 walkman function already run significantly faster compared to R1CA029).
Ridiculous battery drain was the only issue that I was experiencing when I was on R1EA030, therefore I can not speak on behalf of everyone that may have experienced different problems with their customized firmware.
What I have said above ties to this Customization/CDA#:
1201-4321 R10A
1200-5451 R1EA033
APAC-AZN
Take Care, hope updated firmware become available to you soon and fixes the problems you are experiencing.

I have tried few time to update to R1EA033, but it won't work.. dunno why..
mine CDA is
1201-4202 R11A
1200-5451 R1EA030
1E0w
APAC-ANZ
sounds strange...

Did almost waste 25 Euro to update to 033. First I re flashed it to generic firmware, but SEUS don't even want update the phone coz it says it has the new one, even it was on R3C, try later again with customz via davinciteam, then try later via SEUS and updated to R3EA033..
I hope battery time is much better than R3EA030.. my hope..

I really wish you good luck Silver, hope your R1EA033 upgrade can help improve your battery problems. With today's busy life schedule and technology like bluetooth battery life is really the key to mobility.

I have also noticed battery life is about 50% longer than before.I can get nearly 3 days of heavy use out of the phone now wheras about a day before.Bluetooth connection between the W910 and HBH-GV435 is better now with no disconnection while on a call. still have to set my theme everytime i restart the phone though and media is still a bit slow when played through bluetooth.

just copy your theme from M2 to phone
Posted by Rookwise
Have tried moving the theme over to the phone memory but still get the same thing happen. If i use any theme other than the default ones. When i turn the phone off and back on again the phone loads the Walkman theme and I have to set my theme again regardless weather its in the phone memory or the memory stick. Both of my Silky White W910's do this.

remove M2 from the phone then set your theme if the problem continues backup your phone and try Master reset-Reset settings if nothing try Master reset-Reset all
Posted by Rookwise
Have tried doing that on my other W910 and still no different.Even did a full erase of the phone software and complete reinstall and reflash via Davinci but still the same. Can't be the phone as i have 2 08W14 W910's and also an 07W43 W910 that show the same problem. All 3 phones have a 4gb memory stick in them and the memory sticks have also been checked in other phones and work fine when setting themes.

Same here every time i go to look at the phone there's a good chance it's back to default (resetting itself - taking to doing it with no warning)
However I'm finding it a lot more stable than R1DA038 was, and this time i can start the phone with the 8gb card inside, so slowly climbing back up to 2000+songs

i bet you removed the ask for the pin code at startup.
If you put somethin at startup like the pin code, the flight mode, or an animation the theme won't reset to default walkman.

If I have the option to choose Flight Mode at startup enabled it still happens.
The phone has never asked for a pin on startup and the pin settings have never been messed with. Dont know about phones from other countries but UK sim free ones never ask for a pin code on startup unless the user enables it after the 1st startup of the phone.
The phone starts up with the default animation (flashy walkman startup thing).

Rookwise: I actually have been looking at the HBH-GV435 and HBH-GV435a SE bluetooth headset, and because it's not a cheap buy I really would like to know if it works well with w910i.
Anyone that has experience with the HBH-GV435 is welcome to share your thoughts:
-What is the difference between HBH-GV435 and HBH-GV435a?
-Which performs better?
-Is call quality decent? or you get a lot of static...
-Do the bluetooth lose signal when left idle inside your pocket for a period of time?
Your thoughts on this topic would be appreciated
Posted by Rookwise
The GV-435a is just a slightly updated version of the GV-435. The 435a has slightly better battery life and
promises it will have fewer dropped connections than previous bluetooth models.
On the 030 firmware I found that the GV-435 dropped the call connection after 3 minutes and there was a 1 minute delay before the W910 prompted that the connection had been lost. Never had any problems when it's connected to my K810, K850, P1i, W960, W380 or S500. Since updating to 033. Call connectivity has improved and have managed a 12 minute call with no interruption in connection.
Sound quality on the GV-435 is excellent. I've not experienced any static and the auto volume adjust works fine.
I've been thinking of updating to the 435a myself and the 435 is an excellent headset. I've had my 435 for 8 months now and its showing signs of wear. Its survived a few drops as well.
If I could fault the headset it would be that it does not fit very well if you wear glasses (I do) as the rear of the headset does not sit correctly behind the ear creating a loose fitting. This can cause the headset to fall off if you turn your head sharply. This is not just the the GV-435 that has this problem though as I've experienced this with many of my bluetooth headsets in the past.
I would say go for the GV-435 as they can be bought quite cheaply from play.com and Ebay but if you want the most up to date and prefer the Grey/Black colour then go for the 435a.

Hello! I'm new here. hehe. Hm, oh, I have a W910i, firmware: R1EA033. I'm happy with my phone but there's one thing that annoys me much;
Whenever I get a call, or make a call, or lose my 3G/HSDPA signal, my headset gets disconnected. (i have HPM-85 and HPM-90). I thought either the headset or the phone is faulty. The headsets work fine with other SE phone models, say my sister's K770i, so nope, its not the headset being faulty. then i thought my phone is faulty. asked for a replacement and somehow i got lucky - i got a brand new replacement of W910i, but the problem is still there. I'm guessing its a firmware issue? any of you having this problem? if so, did u manage to get it fixed?
check this out too.
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=159109
and this (read the comments); http://sonyericssonblog.wordp[....]/03/new-firmware-out-for-k850/
and lastly, this;
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=159131
I figured out that the W910 and K850 are having problem with the headsets.
so anyone? anyone manage to get it fix?

Wow, thank you very much Rookwise for sharing your thoughts on the HBH-GV435 series. I really want to get this bluetooth headset for my w910i, and thanks for helping with clearing up the differences between the "a" and "non-a" version of the GV435.
thanks again for sharing pal
Have a great weekend man,

You are not alone with it, same with mine HPM90. but it works great when listen music, when speak with it, it can become very annoying..
upgraded to R3EA033 2days ago. I have noticed the battery performance it's much much better than R3EA030, still at 50% left..

Hey Silver.
Oh, that is good to know but but, hmm, this sucks. i have to switch my phone to flight mode for it to function well. HAHA. but that isn't fun. do u think that a new firmware will fix that? any way to recommend SE to do that? hehehe. i did email SE from S'pore for support. they told me to update firmware, which i had done way before i got the headset. when i explain more of the issue, they couldn't answer that :\\
I could just use the HPM-70 but HPM-90 sounds so much better than the HPM-70... hmm. :\\

Hi afhum,
I returned my first W910 because of this problem but I still had it with the second one so I decided to keep it anyway.
The slider got stuck after a week so I had to return it. The 3rd headset still had the headset problem.
I've tested 3 different W910 with 2 HPM-82 + 1 HPM-90 and 4 different firmwares but the problem is still there. I phoned and mailed SE customer services and they don't even know about it.
I think this will never be fixed because that handset simply sucks.
Posted by SilveR.
How ever use HPM70 is problemfree, when make call with HPM90 as I said before it become disconnected, but not listen to muisc..
PS. T650 and HPM90 works great..

Hey Jaax,
Yeah, oh well, what to do, i guess we should just let it be and hope for a firmware that may fix this? they may fix it right, like the latest firmware R1EA033, i think it only fixed the battery's performance. maybe the next firmware will fix this issue.. or not. haha. oh well. i was thinking of replacing my w910 with w890 but then i prefer sliders..
but hey, i have a feeling that a firmware may fix it

heya silver,
yep, im using the HPM-70 with the HPM-85 headset, hehe. in-ear headphones r nice but not when you're rushing to school after shower, lol.
but yeah, thanks for sharing, its good to know that i'm not alone with this problem.

Rookwise: I forgot to ask you one question about the HBH-GV435. Is it possible to use w910's walkman to listen to music through the bluetooth headset? I had a chance to play around with my friend's GV435 a few months ago but i couldn't figure out if it is possible ..hmmm
Posted by Rookwise
No mate.Neither the GV-435 or the 435a support A2DP so cannot listen to music through it.

Sorry about the lack of activity on the firmware info page... Been on holiday!
Just wanted to ask a quick question... has anyone had an issue with a W910i where the 'H' is NEVER displayed, even when in a guaranteed HSDPA area; I have been with one of my mates in London and he has a K850i on T-Mobile and I'm on T-Mobile myself; He had it, I didn't... Any ideas?

Yes mate. When i'm at the parents house. They get a H or 3g signal and i don't and sometimes i do and they don't.

It seems that R1EA033 and some others have really serious problems with the Java Bluetooth stack.
Headset get connected and loose the connection in the middle of your conversations.
Software version R1CA039 seems to be more stable, as far as the bluetooth connection to the headset is concerned.
It seems that R1CA039 has got J2ME 8.0 and R1EA033 has got J2ME 8.2.
I would not upgraded my set to new firmware releases.

I've had no issues with R1EA030/33 or even the original firmware which i forget what it was, with my Plantronics 590A stereo headphones, either for listening to music or phone conversations.

Not gone into the sensme part since buying the phone but just had a look and all the sensme sounds have gone since updating to 033. Phone asks to instal them from a pc and can't find anything on Sony Ericsson's website via my W910.

Hi, I recently bought a W910i (built 08w09) from my operator and it came with R1CA029 firmware, first thing I did was update trough SEUS and now I have R1EA030. The phone is a little slow sometimes but as I just use primarily for listening music and making/receiving calls/SMS don't have too much toruble with it, the only things that annoys me are:
- Low volume (earpiece, headphones and loudspeaker)
- Cracking and distorted sound when Megabass is enabled at max volumes
I've read many users here that claim the Megabass bug was fixed in latest firmware versions (R1EAxxx) but I still have it and the sound is simply awful at max levels. I don't know if a full reflash could solve this or do you think its better to wait for a new FW release?? I'm really desapointed right now cause my K8100@K810 sounds is much louder and better
Thanks for reading.

Damn sorry mate I went the eBay route - it was £99.99 BIN and £6.99 postage (so I'll get it on Wednesday).
It was brand new, just out of the box to show the items - comes with a 1gb card as well

hi! I wonder if anybody else has noticed the following thing. During song playback in walkman there randomly happens some sort of clipping distortion for a fraction of a second - it's like the player skips a really short part of a song (fraction of a second, as I said). It is similar to a problem with older discman players when you shake them and they skip a part of cd but this isn't related with shaking and isn't that bad. It is not related with song quality because when you play the same song again it doesen't happen in the same place or doesen't happen at all... I have R1EA033 firmware and I haven't seen this bug report anywhere yet...

I get that as well on mine. Have been using the phone in my car lately (plugged into my stereo) and have noticed the music pausing for about a second and then come back on again as if its skipped a bit.

Not in the UK for generic it isn't. If you can provide a screenshot instead of just saying it's available. Give your area and firmware details.
