I am in some big trouble looks like...help needed urgently.
I am from mumbai(india)on bpl mobile network wwhich has just launched gprs.
though the setting up on the mobile has got me started on using gprs on my t68 but i am unable to connect on my laptop after doing all the settings required.
i use bluetooth on my laptop so when i dial the moble dials the no...says conecting and then it says gprs request rejected.
When i spoke to a very knoledgeble technical person from the moble company he said this problem is with all the t68 users because t68 is sending some unwanted signals to the network(i dont know wether i should believe him or not as when gprs is working perfectly on the phone)the gentlemen says that t68 is making a patch for the same and they are awaiting it.(thats funny when all you guys out here can use it )I have a log file too which i am attaching ...someone knoledgeble please help help help...(100s of my friends facing the same problem in india..mumbai city)

If you can test it with IrDA and/or DRS-10 serial cable, you should. The T68 should be able to connect, it is your operator's problem, not the T68.
It also looks like the T68 is asked to dial the wrong number. Since your CGDCONT=2 (that means CID=2 for APN for the Internet), then the number should be *99***2#.
How many APN's were you asked to configure? Normally you will have an APN for WAP over GPRS and another for GPRS Data, which is the one you should use for the internet.

Arnold,..could you explain something please:
About the *99* number.
Some say it should say : *99***1#
How do you find out how many * should be in this number ?
My data-account for email on the T-68 is CID=2.
I guess I should use this in the string, meaning something like *99*2# right ?
And what about the AT-command,..dont quite know how or where to write it in ???
I'm sorry if this seems obvious,..but I've never tried to make a connection this way.
I did a lot of normal internet-accounts, but not with laptop and T-68.
I use WIN ME, IR and the T-68.
I have installed package-4 (for T-65),.. just one more question : do you need to define a new modem (controlpanel>modem),
Or will this automatically happen, once I've installed the xtnd-connect-package ?
Hope you can help me out here,..kind of new in this part

ahh ... since the CID=2, the last digit to use for dial-up should be 2, like this: *99***2#. as suggested by arnoldc.
just curious. how many data accounts do you have?

Gowin > I have one for wap (CID1) and one for email (CID2).
The reason I'm asking these questions is, that I havent tried setting up this sort of connection before.

hmm ... well, in my case I only have one data account CID=1 (GPRS/WAP/data(email)). I had an option to use another, but it's going to use CSD and I personally think it's too slow expensive.
I haven't personally tried BT, how about setting up the IR connection first? This would determine if it's really a modem/phone problem or with your bluetooth card.
re:setting up modems.
my win98SE laptop automatically recognized my T39 modem (connected via IrDA), but my SP recommended manually adding a modem as a standard 33.6 modem and connected by a virtual com port. I got 3 modems configured on my laptop: 1) T39 modem, 2) PCcard modem 3) standard 33.6 (i use this instead of the T39 modem cause i think it's more stable than the T39 modem config)

I have three accounts: 1) GSM Data (ISDN), 2) WAP over GPRS (APN=smart1, CID=1), 3) GPRS Data (APN=internet, CID=2)
Jan,
My notebook is in the repair center (screwed up video), but I have the documents on the APN, CID, AT commands for T68. If you can wait...
Cheers.

Jan, you said "And what about the AT-command,..dont quite know how or where to write it in ??? "
When you configure the T68 modem in your desktop, example Windows 98, go to Control Panel -> Modem -> Properties -> Connection -> Advanced. You will see Extra Settings. Here's what I have:
AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet"

GOWIN :
I did try it with IR (havent got my bluetooth card yet).
My laptop reconized the T-68 as well.
I did try it out with the standard modem in the laptop,..no connection at all.
When I look in MODEMS in controlpanel, I have the laptops own modem, and T-68 modem on com4 (virtual ir-comport).
But when trying to retrieve info on the T-68 modem,..it says theres no info or connection.
When I tried it using IR and T-68ir modem, it connected, and told me that connection have been made.
And I can see the connection,..on the laptop, down in the bottom right corner.
The phone says : CONNECTING..............
and it keeps on saying this,..doesnt do anything else.
This is why I believe that I'm doing something wrong. But I cant seem to figure out what ?
I believe than when installing package 4 or 5 from Ericsson (the T-65 xtnd-package) it would install the modem drivers automatically.

Arnold :
Mine looks the same as yours :
My dataaccount for email (APN=internet, CID=2)
Yes I can wait, would very much like to see your documents on it.
I thought that when having APN=internet CID=2, then the AT command would be:
AT+CGDCONT=2 (where the 2 stands for the cid-number)

well brothers....there is news...
I had put a logo of say no to nokia on my t68 as background..tried connecting to gprs with all this cd...apn and whatever you say...just to test i got the nokia 6310 though i hate it...AND...here my ipaq and toshiba laptop with blutooth went mad...i am a happy man for timebeing connected throughout and looking @ my T68 on why this one has to ditch me...my service providers still maintain that ericsson is sending them a path cause there t68 are sending unwanted signals to the network ...now i feel they are right.
guys we all have a lot of faith on our t68 but somebody needs to take it up in some forum and ask them to do it right.
or india will talk rubbish about my till date favourate and i will wait for that patch if there is one.

I did try it out with the standard modem in the laptop,..no connection at all.
did you manually add the standard modem?
When I look in MODEMS in controlpanel, I have the laptops own modem, and T-68 modem on com4 (virtual ir-comport).
But when trying to retrieve info on the T-68 modem,..it says theres no info or connection.
the same thing happens to me. I can't retrieve modem info settings.
When I tried it using IR and T-68ir modem, it connected, and told me that connection have been made.
And I can see the connection,..on the laptop, down in the bottom right corner.
were you able to connect to websites?

GOWIN >
I tried yesterday to add a modem,..this time just a "standard" 33.6 modem, and it connected.
But the phone still just say : connecting.. nothing else happened.
The only modem I can retrieve info from is the original modem in the laptop.
I wasnt able to connect to websites,..when opening explorer, I instantly got the "error saying something like: the website youre trying to open is either wrong,..bla bla bla." The same you get when writing the wrong www-adress.
-------------------------------------
About the modems. When you download the inf.file from
or somewhere else, its a socalled DAT.file.
When I tried to "create new modem", I was told to search the pc for INF-files to the modem (using the button:have disc/cd),..but the t-68inf didnt show up.
I guess because the pc searches for INF.files and this one is called inf.DAT.
So it doesnt see it !
I guess you need to rename it in some way ??

Jan,
You are correct in AT+CGDCONT=2. Wrong cut, right paste.
Hmm, right now I can't give you guys feedback on the IrDA issues that you have. I don't have my notebook yet. But initially, I was abe to query the modem properties (Windows 2000) and connect. However, I decided to switch to serial because my primary boot is Windows XP, and I have a desktop at home.

Hi Arnold
Nice one
When I try to write in the AT-coomand, I cant seem to make the commas , only the .
Should I actually only write :
AT+CGDCONT=2 and nothing more ?
--------------------
I just got my Anycom bluetooth pc-card, very happy about this ! Havent tried it out yet, and I still need to find out how to do this the right way,...getting there, I guess
You told in a topic a while ago, about how to use the t68 inf. files,...something about renaming them, because they are DAT.files.
How did you do this.
I wrote something about it in the post above as well.
