SE UI speed: the little bro is faster than the big bro

By far the phone with the fastest UI and multi tasking performance i have used is Li (k550).

I learned that embedded an ARM9 processor that runs at speeds of upto 218 MHz in k550. Thats why multi tasking in k550 is a breeze.

Sophia (k850) on the other hand uses a processor that is lower. it runs on speeds of upto 153 MHz. This has an effect on how fast and smooth k850 handles tasks once the radio and music player is started in the background.

Can anybody from the k850 users here comment on the UI speed of sophia?

^^ K850 - 153Mhz? I thought and believe that all JP-8 phones have more than 300Mhz CPU speed. with hardware graphics acceleration built inside it(because encoding QVGA @ 30Fps is impossible for any non-gpu enabled handset, very impossible). that's why there's a J2ME native support for OpenGL-ES API K850 on the other hand cannot show it's true performance as the firmware isn't yet matured and bug-prone. but once firmware issues have been fixed, it's showtime for K850's multitasking and gaming performance!

I also agree that K550 has an amazing multitasking, i've tested that and with the 3 running 3D Java games at one time(V-rally 3d, asphalt Urban v3 and the Sims 2 J2ME ), i experience no lockups nor hangs. very smooth and fast

kabayan, from softpedia:

K850i Cyber-shot model features a low ARM9 family processor that runs with speeds up to 153 MHz. Just like in P1i smartphone case, this is really disappointing as the phone cannot handle to work smoothly other applications the moment you run the music player or the radio in the background. Fortunately the Java emulator embedded can handle any compatible large size files (over 300KB) with no problems.

the mith of MHZ doesn't always go right.
take a mac pc for example; they run at 800mhz ??
those perform way better compared to a 2gh/z intell.
got the do with the way information is beeing send / used.
i'm at my lunch now so this is where my story ends

^^ If that's the case now i have drawn a conclusion that K850 CPU could have better architecture than the JP-7 phone's CPU for some instances, could even be a dual core CPU!. just like how core duo differs from pentium 4 - and for sure K850 has some kind of hardware graphics acceleration built into it because AFAIK, it is still impossible for a modern CPU to encode a very smooth QVGA 30Fps video without the help for a GPU chip integrated into it

amazing anatomic architecture of k850 huh?

K850 uses a 208 MHz CPU just like K800, but with more RAM memory, as the new platform requires more, I'd guess.

Where did u get that info? That k850 processor runs upto 208 MHz?

Actually I can't remember if it's 208 or 218, but it was stated in a review @ mobile-review.

Review of sophia in softpedia says otherwise.. its only 153 MHz max

Well, that's wrong then. K800 had a 200+ MHz CPU, and its successor doesn't have less.

Softpedia ran a test on it. Jbenchmark confirmed it. It can't possibly post an erroneous review. I don't remember well mobile-review's piece. Maybe i will read it again. But pls do check on the site i told u. Then see for yourself.

I'll just run a benchmark on mine - hold on

Sorry, I can't. It won't connect to the internet for some weird reason.

Since you mentioned sophia as K850. the sophia is just a prototype version and can differ to the now called K850, SE can do much much hardware/software updates beyond our intelligence during it's prototype development. just like how they have update P5's CPU before it was supposed to be announced on Nov. 15

I hope this could clear out minds now

JBenchmark's results say <195 ,
There are around 14 results there giving an average of ~169MHz.

Don't forget that Jbenchmark is running inside an emulator, so you can't calculate the exact processor speed. I also think that there is still room for improvement in the speed in a new firmware.

See my results with K800:

@razec,

kabayan, softpedia in their k850 review tested a commercial unit and not a prototype.

@mizzle,
if ever you get to succeed in testing jbenchmark of k850, let us know
