XS ++ is a phone modding ( editing ) tool which can be used 2 edit the file system in a phone ... It can be used 2 change the camera drivers, sound drivers , etc .... which usually makes the phone good ....
Firmware (fw) is just like the operating system in a computer. A phone's firmware contains all the files needed for a phone 2 work ....

yeah, it is good. you would get reasonable upgrades.

MAIN is the part of the firmware that contains the "core".
FS(File System) = this contains all the files(ringtones, pics, language, layouts, etc)

Full flashing (if you want such thing) includes flashing the MAIN and FS tighether... And after that you need to finalize the phone.

sony ericsson got a software for it too. but you cannot flash phones with it, only file transfer.
