Nothing PK said is contradictory, did you listen to the press conference. The SE representative said that the P-series would continue and that the Xperia line, not the X-series, could support many different software platforms. So, you could see and Xperia P? in addition to the Xperia X?.

How I see it:
XPERIA X-series devices will not be tied down to a single OS. So, the "P5i" may actually be released as, say, the X2. Or something.
P-series will probably continue to be business-oriented with UIQ, while X-series is everything-oriented, with multiple platforms.

yes i also get a similar feeling that there will a 5mp phone which will be X2
...cuz G700 3.2mp G900 5mp...C702 3.2mp C902 5mp...X1 3.2mp "X2/P5i" 5mp with UIQ 4 ofcourse

was checkin out some videos about xperia x1 on youtube, it looks really awesome! and if i'm not wrong, the p5 should and (hopefully) will surpass x1 in all aspects!!! i hope it is designed in a better way than x1, maybe like sealover's last ps3'ish concept!

I doubt it'll surpass it in all aspects.
I think the most we could hope for, realistically, is UIQ4 (with either 262K colors or 16 million), and a 5 MP camera. Maybe a gig of disk space. There's really not much else to add to the X1 specsheet without being completely unrealistic for 2008.
You can't expect the P5i to have, say, an XGA screen with 802.11n, WiMax, a cheese grater, and a cup holder.

Sorry, I had this funny idea you were trying to suggest that the X1, as a Windows phone, would be much bigger than the average UIQ device. But you weren't trying to say that at all, right?
Point is, the X1 is a very small smartphone already. The P5 could be smaller - which means being smaller than the P1 too - but it's unlikely to do that without sacrificing the keyboard, which was my point in the first place. Without a proper keyboard, it's going to be much more of a multimedia rather than business device.

Someone yesterday, on one of the new posts (maybe even the famous P.K.) mentioned that the end of surprise is not in Monday and that the rest is following in Wednesdey and this day is very close (maybe the Tue. evening for someone).
It is not so long. Longer will be waiting for shop appearance!

Drasko your right, people are getting too worked out. The UIQ press conference is not until the end of the day on Wednesdy and rumour has it that SE is saving the best UIQ phone announcements till then, Hence the P5i/Paris and Beibe may be announced on wed...
I guess we will all have to wait and see...

Since the P5i still hasn't been announced, I think it's better for all the discussion to take place here (or in the 2008 thread) than in 50+ other threads. There may not be any concrete info (they are just rumors, after all), but at least everything's contained.
