I think there will no P5i this time,

But expecting a lot from G900

Pk: I envy u....

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
I have a slight suspicion that the G900 is the P5. I think some others do as well.

Posted by _vAmpiRe_
Did you guys see what GSMArena wrote about the P5?

Posted by doministry
It would be strange to call next Pseries Gseries,
all of the sudden, without any sense of continuation.

Posted by makbil
Unless that is precisely what SE is trying to do. Later they can deny any involvement with the P990. They've already removed P990 from almost all their non-support sites.

Sorry If it has already posted (i haven't come for weeks), but have you already seen this ?

Don't want to post alot in this thread but the P series is not dead yet.

P series with UIQ will continue

X series is windows based.

Hope that helps.

the X1 looks pretty nice. I'd be interested to see a demo of its interface and use.

I'm still hoping for the Pnext to be announced, although its unlikely it seems. I look forward to seeing the specs of the G900. I'd rather get a UIQ device over a Windows device any day.

Posted by tonif430
I would like an x1 with UIQ4 to succeed my P990i!!!!

Posted by deuxani
PeteryKay has mentioned that maybe wednesday we might see a UIQ P-series version of the X1. That could be fun

Posted by laurenke01
Indeed.

Which will be better--the X1 or the P5?

It will be hard to decide.

Posted by skblakee
Guys leave this thread and go to the X1 thread.

Posted by bisse_m
Xperia X1 today and Xperia P5 on wednesday? Nah maybe not... I'm happy with the x1.

Posted by DarkKrypt
found this last night forgot to post it
was browsing the underground web
seems like another photoshop of sealovers p5
beats me - it could be even on this thread i just havent read through it all

I don't know... I really like the design of the X1, but if the P5i is looking anything like this (aka PS by Sealover), then I absolutely will go for the P5i... (based on design, not specs that is...

Posted by laurenke01
The only point of contention for me would be if the P5i does indeed have a 5 MP camera.

If this is the only difference between the P5i and The X1--all other specs are the same--then I may have to spring for the P5i. But I dunno...the fact that WinMo has A LOT more 3rd party apps than UIQ may make me go with my original choice.

Also, the fact that even though the P5i is supposed to be a superphone like the X1, the fact that the two UIQ phones announced today did not include 850 Mhz, I'm worried that UIQ will always be a niche platform centered on Europe only.

Yes, true... 5MP cam it should be... BTW: I've never used WM before... How is the backward-compability? Will programs for WM5 work for WM6, or is it like UIQ?

I've used a WM5 device before--and yeah...it's all backwards compatible, so far as I know.

Especially since WM5/WM6 are so similar. WM7 is a different story.

Posted by _vAmpiRe_
Then there's no end to the possibilities... Probably will take a while before programs for UIQx (not sure about the version on the P5) will flow....

^^ at this moment we already have 9 UIQ 3 smartphones. seems like this will serve as driving force for Symbian Developers to also touch and develop apps for UIQ

i love the G900, but might fall in love with C902 if it has CCD!

Let's hope so... Have fallen in love with a couple of 's phones myself, so let's hope is wrapping them all up in one, and call it P5i...

I thought that in this day and age that CCD and its need for better quality was almost negligible nowadays.

Will the Pnext be announced soon?

Posted by sunSEt_
I heard, that it will be announced on wednesday?
Could someone confirm this?

Posted by kraakie
i think that the changes between X1 and de P5 will be the:

X1 P5
side slider down slider
65000 colour 16 mil colour
3.2 mp 5 mp
led light xenon
wm symbian

but i think i choice only because of the 5 mp with xenon for the P5i

Posted by kenx3000
@kraakie

some does sound reasonable, but I have a feeling X1 is this year's top margin price. So Pnext should be either right at the same price, or lower. Let's just hope it's lower

To be honest...Xperia...is crap...or not...I mean it is a windows mobile device...I don't think SE did put so much muscles into its development...It may also been microsoft who paid for its development (to make their system look better since a real phonemakes use their system)...HTC have the same specs for their TYTN II..not sure about screen though...But as always windows mobile devices have good specifications but its interface sucks...Symbian is a better system for small devices and its interface is more clear...both UIQ and S60. Iphone lacked SDK and user options to be a reall smartphone...it is more like a cool interface...but not a real OS. currently G900 and G700 are really good phones even if they arent marketed as P phones u can use it for business as well...Paris and Beibei that will be presented in may or june will show SEs new symbian platform...

Posted by anonymuser
seems to me that the X1 just made the P5 irrelevant. I mean, the P series were always primarily business phones, with good multimedia increasingly added on. UIQ3 hasn't been very successful in continuing that early heritage, with minimal software support, while Windows Mobile is *the* OS for business, with a huge developer network behind it. If SE come through on their promise to optimise the X1 for multimedia, on top of all it's busines credentials and conectivity etc, and good looking SE design, then there's the spiritual successor the P series right there. Why should anyone choose the P5 over that?

Posted by doministry
Well,
I want UiQ, not Windows,
also, I'm sure next Symbian/UiQ generation will be really strong,
It will jump higher than WM.
BTW, X1 looks cool.

Posted by anonymuser
If the P5 is also going to "Xperia" branded, and the X1 can already lay claim to being the most business orientated Xperia device (simply by virtue of Windows Mobile), I wonder if the P5 is going to be more of a pure multimedia device, eg a more direct take on the Iphone? Is it possible, for example, that the reason we've not seen the P5's qwerty keyboard (or been given any concrete hint on it) is that it doesn't have one? Perhaps it's a virtual keyboard, or just a standard slide-out keypad? I'm just thinking, if you really need a qwerty, you're going to be buying an X1. If you need a business phone, likewise, you're going to buy an X1. But if you just want good video, a snazzy interface, good camera and music player etc, then maybe the P5 will be the sexier, slimmer, model for you?

I still think the "traditional" P series buyer may find themselves migrating more to the X1. I've already done that a year early, in moving from the M600i to the Tytn II, and I've no regrets - but I'll be very happy to swap the Tytn II for an X1 when the time comes.

In my opinion it doesn't make much business sense to release 2 similar mobile devices like the Xperia x1 and the P5. It would confuse the market.
The spec's already seem similar and having a different O/s isn't really going to help differentiate the products enough to the general public, who aren't as clued up on mobile phone development as people on Esato are.

well, i disagree!

The people buying businessphones/smartphones usually are clued up about what they are buying!

indeed - they want to know whats in a device etc
and why they should buy it over any other device
no wonder i see so many black berrys theyre a pretty good business phone;)

@Boinng
and ONE reason why people would choose the p5 over the Xperia
is, SIZE
im assuming it will be in similar size to the p1 and w910
eh and personal choice..food for thought

But if you look at the specs, the X1 isn't particularly big compared to either the P1 or W960 (I assume you meant that, and not the W910). It has a big screen, but you'd expect that from the P5 too. The rest of the bulk (what little there is) comes from the keyboard. The P5 may well not have one, but that's really my point

Have a look at this size comparison - the X1 is slightly taller than the P1, but it's actually smaller in every other direction! http://www.sizeasy.com/page/size_comparison/10179-SE-X1-vs-SE-P1

eh and personal choice..food for thought

It's all personal choice, but what are you saying - the P5 will have identical specs, and it'll just be a straight choice between WM and UIQ? Of course not. These will be two different phones geared towards two different markets; the X1 already has the business professional covered, so it stands to reason that the P5 will be more consumer/multimedia oriented.

dammit! well i really hope xperia x1 is not paris... bcos x1 is good but not what we all were expecting. and by no means does it seem to succeed the p990 in the true sense of the statement... i'll still be waiting i guess, and there are two more days for the MWC to end so fingers crossed!

They're two different phones...don't worry.

The X1 cannot be Paris because X1 is Venus.

I think the X1 gives us a pointer for what to expect in the P5 - which is not a business phone, in the sense that the old P's were. That's now the X1's job.

The new P, if it's still classed that, will be all about multimedia.

Posted by laurenke01
....in which case, I'd imagine it won't be in the P-series. But who knows?

PK what u just said is very very contradictory to this :

they say that X-series is not about OS..it can have different OS ...its about xperience !
