the w910i doesn´t have any touch sensitive keys under/on the screen. The K850i has three, but the w910i doesnt have something like that. ??? :)

That was said also for k850, but eventually, the wait lasted for another 4 months

*makes Yoda-like expression* The force is strong in SE...

If you don't want to wait, go and post elsewhere

no offence but we also had a thread before the P1i was released named the P700i thread, which was released.

well said Taz.

I hope above all else that whatever UIQ version it is using, that it is stable as the unstable firmware really ruined the P990 experience for me.

Posted by apolloa
Hi guy's. can you answer some questions?

Will the P5i have an iPhone type interface I can use my finger with? Not like my current P1i but a proper finger interface?

How big will it be compared to the P1i?

Is it a slider phone with a keypad or something?

I'm sorry for asking these questions but I'm sure some of you can answer those questions in a jiffy. I'm just want to be able to use my finger on the screen for all the functions.

Posted by bavlondon2
I think Maria is supposed to have something similar but not sure about P5. If anyone would know its PK and someone else whose name I cant remember right now. To be honest for me even if its stylus based as long as its a snappy and responsive OS then thats fine for me.

Posted by skblakee
PK; Does people read threads like these? If so then the wait is worth it as one would expect that they would learn plenty from Esato.
Also, how much of a review would you be able to give after the announcement ? Like, would you be able to discuss such things as whether it has quad band and the interface?

For all this patience I hope that does not pull a P990 on me/us with unstable stuff.

Thats surprising, true and somewhat disappointing.

Posted by BobaFett
yeah, cos there arent any yet... its weird, cos normally at upcoming models there are already some earlier pix to find, even monthes before the release. amybe se havene even decided yet how should it look like. but if there isnt a design yet in their mind, have really no idea when it will be out. normally when hw, fw and design are already choosen, then they still should start testing and experimenting, how it works "live". otherwise they ll make everything in the last sec and then the usually bugs will be given and with the coming fw upgrades will be all fine at the end.

Hey,
I decided I'd make my own concept of the P5i for the hell of it. It's not necessarily what it will be based on fact, more based on my perceptions of what it should be like. Enjoy.

This doesn't look so fantastic in the low res shown here, if you want a better picture contact me and I will send one. Cant upload anything bigger on Esato >D.

@Tigershark42

Nice photoshop mate

Posted by Tigershark42
TY very much Thats my first photoshop rendering
I would be really happy if the P5i was even remotely close to it.

Posted by Lunion
I'd be very happy if it looked like that.

Lets hope it does!!

Posted by NoTnERb
damn tigershark42, you make a really great photoshop! I like that one! especially with the dedicated music keys on the slide, nice one tigershark42! pretty nice!

Posted by drsilverworm
If dedicated music keys are included, I think it'd be more intuitive to put them UNDER the keyboard. This way, when your fingers brush against the bottom of the keypad they won't activate the (presumably) touch-sensitive music buttons, and having them above would also give more room for the top of the QWERTY so your fingers don't get cramped in that edge that's next to the upper portion of the phone.

Is P5i a business phone or jack-of-all-trades phone? I'm quite confuse here.
I'm expecting the device to be more than a business phone. I hope someone could clarify this.

Posted by hima78
Cant wait for that beauty to be announced and to come out...
well, guess we can do nothing but wait & hope it'll have all we need
go SE

@Mizzle or @PK:
Can you say that the Pnext is better in terms of user interface and features than the Samsung F490 (http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_f490-review-210.php), because that phone sure looks good (both literally and metaphorically speaking)!

Posted by makbil
If the so called P5i is anything like these drawings depict, it should probably be called W5i. I see nothing here that suggests it is a P series phone.

Posted by goldenface
But that would also prompt us to ask why a Walkman phone would have a sliding qwerty keyboard.

Posted by Tigershark42
Drsilverworm:

If you would have ever used a slide out qwerty keyboard on a phone, you would know that you usually operate it using your thumbs only, holding the handset two-handed as you type. I maintain that touch sensitive music keys would be great there, not only from the aforementioned ergonomics perspective but also from an aesthetic design perspective. It would look great to have as many of the buttons as possible with the keyboard. That way, the device looks as clean as possible when closed, and when opened it would have the psychological effect on the user that they are 'in control'. A few common design philosophies.

To quote Eldar from Mobile Review:

'Let’s try to think of some ways the user could make use of the new HTC’s design. The first thing that comes across you mind is the “desktop” scenario with the TyTN II lying on a table with its display tilted up, which makes it resemble a notebook. And in theory this setup should make for convenient text typing.

But in practice it turns out that this setup isn’t the best way for texting due to several reasons. Fist, since the device itself is pretty much portable, the thumbboard is smallish as well, that’s how come you won’t be happy about using both hands for typing (like you do when dealing with a standard-size keyboard). Your fingers will always tangle and stand in each other’s way, so you won’t even see key caption or even the keys themselves. But even if you manage to get used to this, you will need to type with only two fingers regardless.'

Shush, now.

Posted by Tigershark42
Lol! Sealover Your work is great but you shouldn't focus solely on one design so much. It takes photoshop skills as well as design insight and innovation to make something that looks great IMHO.
