Hi all,
Whilst i will admit this is all getting very exciting and i actually don't care what keyboard it gets as on all the P series i have used, the on screen keyboard with the stylus has always worked best for me. Which doesn't mean it has to for anyone else. I just hope that the P5's software is up to scratch unlike the initial UIQ3 offerings that made me leave SE in the first place, to me how that performs is as important as a faster processor, more Ram, HSDPA, and WiFi g.
Could people please stop comparing this to a N95 as that is a Multimedia smart phone not a business smart phone. Really the the devices this will need to be compared to from Nokia are the new Touch UI business devices with full QWERTY that will be like for like. It will be interesting to see if those devices will still use the OMAP2420 @330mhz or have upgraded to the newer chip OMAP series 3 offering 600mhz -1ghz which will be ahead of SE yet again. I wouldn't even try and compare the E90 with the P5 as quite simply whilst a Buisness orientated device it has no Touchscreen although the spec's do seem quite similiar even if one is already released and the other not due for 7-8 months.

Sorry but i have to disagree the E90 keyboard has most of the keys found on a full keyboard minus the F keys but even these are replaced by shortcut keys. It may be smaller but then that's hardly surprising now is it? but is pretty much a full QWERTY unlike the P1 and TYTN.

We can't really tell them to stop because N95 redifined how a mobile phone should be.

Well I think he meant that it will continue to be the primary thread after the announcement,too.That should be the reasoning.After the announcement,I(or he) will probably change the name again to "Official Thread" .(or maybe I'll open a new Official thread

The new Nokia TS devices have fallen well behind schedule and won't arrive until about this time NEXT year, The P5 has the potential to put SE right back in the driving seat of high end devices!!

But the remaining hardware may be better,right?360Mhz and etc. aren't that much ahead of the competition.Maybe we'll see N95's successor at 3GSM(or even at CES International),and it will be out by April-May.That,of course,if N95's successor is NOT the TS device which will come in November.

actually the first NOKIA S60 touch screen device will supposedly be announced until Christmas and will be released sometime in march

Where?And even so,it doesn't mean it will be the first device to be released.Maybe it will be a new class of devices,not a successor of N95.
And forget about the March thing.N95 was announced back in the fall,but hit the shelves in Q2.TS will come late for sure.Still much work to do,Nokia guys won't be ready till the fall.

Hi all,
N Series what ever the style or model are not business devices and the E61 replacement is expected Q1/Q2 2008 and will have HSDPA and GPS added so no doubt will have a faster processor than currently seen and this is a business device with full QWERTY even though not a Touchscreen which currently is my preference.

Any UI photographed this way and blurred looks not impressive.
As I know SE, the display/Ui will be good.

its ok not saying anything big ^-^ but id love to hear how convenient it is to use. nothing about materials, haptic feel, software or like that. just if its easy, does the menue make anysense, are there too many work arounds, ist it a allrounder like the K75oi ^-^" to me its the best phone so far, because it combined music and photo topnotch in any given point ^-^ the k81o i just improved a little in music but a lot in photo. Walkmans are great in music but shitty in photo(no lenscover not always flash)
compare it to the iphone(ipod touch) just say which one is easier to use an which appearing pleases the eye like "yeah iphone has more design elements"
@ blurry picture : the screens too rectangular to be a rival to other media centric tochscreens

Marc, what I said was that I hadn't seen a computer keyboard quite like the E90's, or the Tytn's etc, and I stand by that - moreover you seem to be agreeing with me. The E90's keyboard is not a full keyboard - it doesn't have all the keys, the keys don't have the same travel or the same spacing, and yes - it's considerably smaller than a "proper" keyboard designed purely for ergonomic rather than portability reasons - and that is perfectly relevant to the point I was making.
ALL of these mobile keyboards, the E90's included, are a compromise. None of them are going to replace a full size keyboard wherever one is available. In that context, the SE styled qwerty found on the M600, P1, and hopefully now the P5, is perfectly valid. The fact is, a lot of people misguidedly assume that because it doesn't look like a standard keyboard it must be inferior, which - in use - is simply not the case.

Just thinking, with all these SE announcements, the one thing they need to work on is the releasing of these items rather than talking about them. I recall playing with the W960i last November was it? in the SE store and it still isn't released yet. Now this P5i is coming, so I'd probably be tempted to skip the 960i and wait for this but it will probably come out in the next year.
Would it not be possible for once for SE to announce something eagerly awaited like say this P51 and then say oh btw it is available to buy right now online and in the store.
