@sealover94
You are killing us. What is that phone

Posted by NightBlade
This is getting interesting....

BTW. I really like how "Xperia" sounds. Like, really high-end-like!

Posted by xironghostx
@sealover

You are going to see that pic on every single cellphone site woldwide, fantastic photoshop imo!

Posted by bodeh6
By comparing it to the K800i screen, it looks to have a 3" Screen.

Sealover is this an actually photo or did you photoshop this?

Posted by NightBlade
^^^
It's a photoshop.

Posted by Mizzle
It's photoshopped, of course. real picture, just added his concept and made some effects and stuff to make it look real.

If P5, as I now strongly believe will be the name of this phone, will be a part of the new series, then so will its media centred cousin.

Posted by bavlondon2
So this can be considered SE's answer to the N95.

PK would you say thats around 90% accurate in terms of screen size etc??

Posted by NightBlade
Or maybe Xperia will be just a type of branding, like Walkman and Cyber-shot...?

Thats is probably what it is. It isn't just one phone. It will be what SE calls their high end line of UIQ phones.

Posted by Tigershark42
Sealover you are a real pro! I wish I was half as good at photoshop as you are! Keeping our hopes up man!

Posted by Tigershark42
SE does badly need a range they can show off with.

Nope, this can be considered SE's answer to N95's successor.

WANT.

Posted by PeterKay
I've told many times to sign up Sealover, they know of his work.

Hopefully he has a future with

Posted by Tigershark42
Mizzle, I am happy about you're certainty that the P5i will be as good as it is rumoured to be. I hope the specs and every other detail live up to that

Posted by makbil
It begins to look more like this device may be the first in a new line of SE phones and not actually a successor to the P990.
So we are still missing what SE will offer (if any) to replace the P990.

Posted by bavlondon2
I just hope this phone is worth the wait. Im prepared to stick with my P1 until this baby is realeased but I realy hope we arnt in for another P990 fiasco.

I also hope we see a 3.5mm jack for once. Not that I dislike SE headphones. The walkman ones are great (k and p ones are crap) but a 3.5mm jack is so overdue on a SE phone. Do you not all agree?

Posted by laurenke01
3.5 mm jack would indeed be nice.

The patent filing for "Xperia" mentions "devices that allow images from cellular or mobile phones to be shown on televisions." In my book, that's a TV-out cable. The N95 uses the 3.5 jack for its TV-out. I have no idea if a 3.5 mm jack is mandatory for such a feature, but it would seem likely.

Posted by soane28
Dick is doing such a good job already! Looks like a masterpiece if its anything like sealovers design. Just beautiful.

Posted by bodeh6
I just hope that the Xperia line (P5i?) comes out shortly after announcement and without any major FW/HW issues.

Very good job in photoshop,

Sealover,

This is a personal memo to you!

You work is halo'd and incredible! Right now you've got no photoshop competition for imagined phone designs on the net. You really should get into phone design. Nice touch by adding your email address to yyour photos, as I'm sure some phone company's will give ya a holla. Don't so no to ANY of the top 5 - get your footy in the door, make your chedda booboo - have benefits fully paid & also further your education in the tools you use and a backup profession as well. Kudo's.

Of course you all know when we finally see the SE P5i in the shell so to speak and we're mostly uninmpressed by the design .... we'll have Sealover's tantilizing works to blame because he has these creations that have lifted our collective expectations.

@bavlondon2
Actually headphones which came with P990 are really, really good.
Anyway I also hope for big office/business tools in P.
This is a must in smartphone.

Are you serious? did owners like me who paid premium price for the P990 a terrible disservice by including those garbage in the package and giving people who bought lower end phones like the w810i decent headphones. I threw those crap in the garbage a week later.

I hope they don't do that foolishness again and put back the jack like on the P910.I will give them one more try but after the P5i or whatever it is thats it.

+1
My P990 headphone is somewhere all tangled up...never used.Got a Hpm 70 and very happy with it.All P990's inbox accessories were crap.

sorry i found it in a chinese site

is this a new sony ericsson phone?????

do you know about this phone?????

Posted by NightBlade
^^ I hope not...

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
The above looks photoshopped. But it does remind me of one of the phones in that image that surfaced a few months back which were supposedly phones that were to be released in 2008, but looked obviously photoshopped.

Posted by CrazyGuns
sealover's new design and photoshops are imo much better than the original ones. this gives the new se phone (what ever it will be named) the cutting edge feeling and has that awesome oh-my-god'ish look to it! i really hope this is what the phone will be looking like!

Sorry for OT
The headphones quality: Well, maybe you got a different headphones with your P990 in your country??
My ones are excellent and I'm the musician
I compared them lately with great Sennheiser PX200 and it was not a big difference.
So, definately what I've got is good,
great bass etc.
Anyway, 3.5 mm jack would be great.

ok,i did nothing but put the first design and this one side by side

doesn't this remind you of the sony game consoles? the first one representing the ps2 and the new one, ps3. which represents next gen phone and so much more cooler than the old one, sure the first one is nice, but after seeing this, who'd want to go for that?

anyhow, i think if this is how the phone will be, it would absoultely ROCK!

Youve got to be kidding.

Posted by makbil
Actually the sound quality of the included headphones wasn't too bad. I only got a Sennheisser MM50 because the ear plug type caused less loss of sound volume. I didn't really notice any difference in sound quality...but then my ears may be getting old

Posted by doministry
@bavlondon
No I'm not kidding
More, I also bought the cheapest HPM set of headphones by SE to have a minijack adaptor,
and yes, THAT was a disaster quality (besides adaptor),
but I repeat - these headphones I got with P990 are good. I'm not deaf

Posted by n20nine
woah...been following this thread for sometime...just that recently i got a trainee job and work is hectic...so i only check once in few days...and wow....i sooo want the P5....So PK, as far as I remember, you still have not got yours back right? Sealover, keep up the good job.

Amazing how good designs get adopted.........

Posted by Tigershark42
I have become somewhat sceptical about the 'xperia' recently, simply because, having seen the ads SE use for the W960i 'I having it all' etc, it occured to me that if this is the way they would market the device, then it may aswell already have been an Xperia model of some form. Clearly this is not appropriate as there is much missing in the W960i (D-pad, HSDPA support, GPS support, a flash player, to name a few). So either SE will continue with this approach and start some sort of Xperia model or series of models, or it is just completely untrue.

I'm not a pessimist but dont expect too much, disappointments are always within SE - just hope dicky prove this wrong

Posted by ashyk36
the thing is though i dont think SE are going to use back and 'c' keys anymore so your goin to have to put that straight

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
I think the 'C' key will remain. But perhaps not the 'back' key. Although, on UIQ phones, that still remains to be seen, as the last UIQ phone released by SE was the W960i if I am not mistaken, and I believe that still had the 'back' key. But definitely no more 'back' key for new SE 'dumb' phones, unless its a low end still using the old A100 platform.

Posted by Tigershark42
I think the back key is always useful. However, the C key is 100% pointless. I have a SE K700i, which uses a 5-way joystick, two softkeys a back key and C key. Obviously for touchscreen devices the softkeys aren't needed. But when I use the K700i I have never ever needed the cancel key. Why? Because its effect is to cancel a process, and the back key serves this purpose as well as going back in menu screens. The cancel key is simply not needed for anything (moreso because a softkey (or touchscreen) option would normally appear with 'cancel' on it anyway). I sometimes wonder whether it is simply there for aesthetics/for users who are right handed (as a left handed user I never need to touch this key, nor is it practical to do so).

I hope the P5i will have the following keys:
-On/off -necessary
-Volume up/down
-Next/previous (not only for tracks, but for slideshows and other such functions)
-Play/pause
-D-pad (I am aware that some of the above could be additional functions of the D-pad- good for gaming too)
-Jog- Dial (makes web browsing, going through lists etc much easier- could have a back key nearby to make navigation even faster)
-Stylus (This looks sexy, but also allows handwriting recognition and better use of the touchscreen for users with limited finger dexterity)
-Finger based touch UI- this allows for faster and more elegant menu navigating for most users- also is awesome (adds to the user experience)
-Back key (This may or may not be needed depending on the new touchscreen UI)
-Call/hang up (preferably a single key allowing use of both functions depending on when it is used- before or at the end of a call- these keys allow a phone call while in any menu)
-Bluetooth button and Wifi button- not necessary, could allow faster connection depending on how the UI is structured
-A QWERTY slide out keyboard- This is good for email use, general internet use etc- should include directional keys
-A regular keypad- not necessary, only to be used if the dual slider idea is employed in this handset. I think the QWERTY keyboard and on-screen keys would be great
-A camera key (Takes photos/video- acts as a start/stop key for this, if pressed when not in camera mode the camera shutter should automatically open, if there is one)

Hopefully the use of some keys can be multifunctional to minimize the number of them needed. Some keys could also be on the keyboard (eg bluetooth/wifi keys) so that they are hidden from view when the keyboard is 'closed'. I know, however that the P5i, if all rumours are correct, is to be primarily a touch device, so I imagine any keys would be multifunctional and the number of them would be minimized for this anyway.

Mizzle/PK, its been established that the P5i should be better than the N95 (in terms of specs), but how does it compare to the iphone? Will the interface be ase natural to use and as interactive? Will it be as easy and visually impressive to use? Will the web browser be at least as good as safari on the iphone? These comparisons are more about user experience than specs.

Posted by Mizzle
@Tigershark
I think I'm the wrong person to ask about this, as I'm not impressed at all by iPhone and its lack of features.

Posted by Tigershark42
Neither am I, and I hate Apple in general, but I must admit the interface and web browser ARE amazing and in some ways revolutionary.

Posted by iqtidar
@Mizzle, does the p5i have tv-out? and can UIQ install .sis files?

Posted by CrazyGuns
the only web browsing i've found to be really amazing was on the E61, with its big screen and ease of use. I've tried the p1's browser and it totally blows. Its not very fast or user friendly, just looks stylish thats all.. i hope the new browser is as good as the s60v3 browsers..

nah, i Strongly disagree! It should be as good as iPhone's browser. the interface and navigation is second to none!
