[/off topic]

that's correct, but this was previously only it was called Optimus Keyboard

now they called it 'Optimus Maximus keyboard' holy long name !!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optimus_keyboard

for those who don't know this keyboard, it's regular keyboard but without printed letters in it's key, instead, theres small 48x48 pixels OLED display for each key, you can customize the keyboard as you like...

this one is customized to work with Adobe Photoshop

and this to play with Quake III Arena

How so? just cause you posted a 1 line doesn't make it so. State you point in full with a quote or two, pls.

@ hgautam; ok I was wrong with the announce date. I was thinking the rumored photos dateline. However, my point still stands ... June till September is still a while before shipments began to seed in online stores or from providers. From two of my preferred reliable retailers online, the K850i is still at $570 while the the N82 is at $600. If pictures are comparable, and videos as well then I'll opt for the N82 and some locky kid with a W580i will get my 1GB M2 card until he/she can get the 8GB.

You all think that I don't like the K850i - I most certainly do ... recall I was amongst the first to say its SEXY! However its price is STILL too steep for what one can do with it.

Peter, lets give this pic 9.8 out of 10, huh ?

You cant see the keypad on that phone so i guess it is kinda hard to tell how that part is, but the rest peter?

Posted by n20nine
very nice so PK still have yet to receive ur updated p5?

Posted by anonymuser
We're still comparing these photoshops with PK's memory of a now withdrawn prototype built to a now withdrawn spec though, right? Since SE have apparently switched to a different hardware platform, it's quite possible that the exterior of the next prototype, let alone the finished product, could be quite different too - no?

Posted by kaiba
xironghostx, agreed, its hard to give it 9.x
No need to put all that light in the front sealover, is that a xenon flash for the front VGA cam ...

Dude it seems that your misinformed !

First of all N82 is not $600 its above $620

And last but not least K850i is $459.99

http://www.cellswholesale.com/Sony-Ericsson-K850i,C,384/

There is a gap between $150

If you want GPS on the K850 then just get HGE-100 which is like $70

460+70=$530

Which is still a lot cheaper than N82.

Need any other reason to get K850i ?

You seems more of a Nokia Fan Boy.Am I right ?

I hope SE increase the screen size too. 2.8 inch is quite small for multi-touch interface.

Just a guess, 5 megapixel clamshell phone might be announced on December 12.

Looking strange...

Posted by anonymuser
If that keyboard is in any way real, then I'm dissapointed. The M600/P1 style is a lot more useful, in that width and form factor. I'd rather have either that, or a full width qwerty dropping down from the side.

To me, the P5 is starting to look a bit ordinary.

Posted by doministry
And me, opposite to Boinng,
would like to have a normal qwerty, not P1 style. I love P990 keyb.!
Anyway, if PK posted that he's informed about his proto back in January,
that's obvious there'll be no announcement this year

Posted by makbil
I'm with @doministry on this one, the P1 style keyboard doesn't do it for me. I'm also reluctant that without a flip, using this device as a phone only (or single handed use) will be more difficult than P990.

Posted by PeterKay
Don't be fooled by the pictures guys!!

I have been secretly told the device may have a new look and a hardware update which will possible be different to the pic shown above......

Posted by Dogmann
@PeterKay

Thanks goodness for that, or is just me that thinks a keyboard with keys that small would be a nightmare full qwerty or not that would really suck IMO if they were that size and not very practical at all for typing anything.

Marc

It also looks to me like this would have the P910's problem, of being impossible to hold and type - since you'd be clinging on to the little slide down keyboard while all weight of the phone was still at the top...

Posted by PeterKay
Hope are reading this before it's too late!!

@PeterKay...

is the front layout of P5i very close to Maria, I mean a d-pad with 6 keys ?

and is there any keys above the screen just like K800i ? these top screen keys are very good for gaming, and I know Symbians are powerfull in games !!

So, not to put too fine a point on it, for all intents and purposes the P5 we've all been discussing and looking at here is scrapped? None of us will ever see it hit the market, regardless?

Makes you wonder when SE will ever sort themselves out. Their smartphone range needs a massive shot in the arm, and it needs it now - not in six months.

Posted by doministry
I don't worry so much.
I think they're still smart to do a good move.
BtW this keyboard discussion is endless s maybe just leave it, since some of us pray the P1 style as ergonomic,
and others as backward step in compare to P990 or even P910 (as for me).
Of course that P1 style keyb. was done for some reasons, not because of a sick designer's dream.
I would like to have a SEPARATE key for a letter what is most logical system, and don't tell me that two letters on one key is MORE logical.
But I absolutely believe that this M600/P1 solution may be much more useful for many, as with any other system.
I hate it compared to P990.
So in my case Pnext should be really strong in all fields to convince me to buy it, if it has this keyb.
But I personally doubt it will have this kind of solution .
Probably the new design will differ vastly.

Posted by xironghostx
The best thing they could do is to make two different keyboards and let the customer decide which keboard he/she wants, if the customer want to change the keyboard he just walks in to a service-center and 5 mins later he has his old phone with another keyboard.
Brilliant, isn't it?

(one keyboard like P1-style and one full-qwerty (?) )
