Do you really believe that? I don't believe it for sure. There should be P5i's successor in the works, but I really doubt anyone outside the R&D team knows anything about it. And of course, it is far from done, so even if we knew everything about the device, 60-70% if not more will be changed until the announcement.

I hope releases a brushed phone as you designed before

That pic of the "P3i" on the previous page does not look like a photoshop.

Looks like it was made in paint

No, no, it's much worse than that - we're looking at 95 pages before the phone has even been announced, or been officially confirmed in any way whatsoever. This is a phone which, for all intents and purposes, does not exist.

Even the only known prototype (note, prototype - not in any way a finished model) has been taken away from PK now, and the originally rumoured spec is said to have been completely overhauled. Whatever the final phone may or may not be, it won't be the P5 that PeterKay had, and which Sealover and others have attempted to picture.

I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, but we're all discussing a scrapped prototype, and an eventual new phone built to an unknown spec that may not be announced for many more months yet, let alone released. There's a very real possibilty we might not even see this phone in 2008.

Well SE has to announce some sort of new smartphone soon hopefully. Every day it gets further and further behind the competition.

SE was probably the first mfg to have a good camera phone for arould the world K750i, but since then Mfgs like Nokia and Samsung have surpassed SE in the camera department N82 and G800 for example.

Yes, the P5I should be for 2008 and the P9i for 2009. But I don't have reliable news for the dates.

Not to be pedantic...but unless there two keyboards...that keyboard can never exist:P

I just hope they don't make the screen as thin as the n95. Its such a shit screeen in terms of build quality.

well, sealover said it was a quick photo paint!

im sure he's working on an awesome one as we speak!

The numbers on the keypad could be printed at an angle so that they could be read in both horizontal and vertical orientation of the phone.

or that whole space ( the num pad ) maybe a TS-OLED display...

SE already had a patent on using dedicated ts-display as keypad

I do not get it ? which is the real picture ? the one which is in the beginning which looks like a 1 way slider or this one 2 way slider ? ? ?

These are concepts that sealover94 makes.

how about diagonally oriented keys on a number pad which slides down, and the same base slides back up and to the left or right with the same numberpad, this time as dedicated numeric keypad, plus a full QWERTY board above it.
that would make it one sliding board, but bi-directional.
know what i mean?

EDIT: sorry, didnt read up before posting..its already been suggested

Wow .... 96pages of Hype, excellent prototype guessed photos by Sealover to keep us salivating, but after so long and almost 2 mths of nothing not even an announcement, EVEN after Nokia's announced & Shipping (SE best take NOTICE of HOW to do a business) the hunger has left me.

Although I love the menu of SE phones its simplicity, speed (navigation & copy/moving of files to and from memory card to phone memory), and superb battery life of the K850i ... I just feel that SE would've done better to use UIQ3 in it.

My needs have grown from standard phones, and the world is changing and our consumption & sharing for media have also grown; I feel that SE is not taking enough notice of just how important that Video, Calendaring, and now Social ( Facebook, MySpace, MS Live Spaces, etc)involvement consumers are needing from PC's/Mac's and now our phones. Nokia seems to progress forward. Although when it comes to phones they ARE the 800lb gorilla they ACT like their trying to take on #1 - not resting on their laurels. SE seems to intent on Music phones.

Although I will not get 3G or video calling - my next purchase that I'm planning for the N82 gives me so much more than the K850i can do. And at $500CAN+ I want more than just calling, photos, music and a nice face. Sure I want longevity but I hunger for apps more. I don't drive a car yet so my boredom on the public transit is more than what most of you face day to day. but when I drive early next year ... this GPS (built-in) will surve so much more.

@ Prom1

I don't really know how Nokia has moved forward. Most of the "good" stuff they put in there phones are nearly all limited to its usage.

I don't really think its fair to compare something that is announced later and compare it to another that's announced way earlier. Let's just see what they both would come up with in Q1 and Q2 since both companies will be announced around the same time.

The two way slider rendering by sealover is only possible when the keypad is touch sensitive and LCD/OLED screen based with multitap and haptics so that if slided in mobile phone slide mode the keypad LCD will display alphanumeric keys and if it's on work mode(computer mode as i call it ) the LCD keypad could change to a qwerty one - that was the best implementation SE could do to the concept gicen by sealover. as it would save space for a keypad hardware as well.

Yeh I agree, there's a way

but this will be hard and complicated and expensive to make too

just use regular bottons with small built-in OLED display on each one !!

but as I said, this is very hard to make + expensive + I think there's a patent on it already !!

why go wıth the double slıdıng desıgn shown earlıer? especıally ıf the keyboard slıder has the numbers on ıt as well. you could use those to dıal and close ıt and talk on ıt.. not to mentıon you have a touch screen so could just use ıphone style buttons for call and end call and numbers...

Hmm. i don't see the point of having the 2nd slider that's an OLED for a qwerty? or having a tiny keypad with oled keys.

first the oled screen with qwerty. if that's true, then why not just put the soft keypad on the touch screen itself? why have a slide out screen for the keypad? seems to me like a waste of an oled screen, which will just add lots of cost and potential problems to the phone. I'd rather be able to turn the phone landscape and tap out the keys on the main screen.

and for having a tiny key pad with oled keys. again, this will increase the price even more, for really, not a very efficient feature. sure it may be "cool" to look at, but frankly, the keys would probably be difficult to press unless you're poking at it with a stylus. and even then, why not tap on the main screen? and if the keys are small enough for you to feel the difference in keys, then there's no point for oled cause the keys would be too small.

either way, i don't see the point for the 2nd slide out portion. especially if the entire main screen is already touch sensitive. a qwerty keyboard can easily be fit on the main screen and still plenty of room to view what you're typing.

just my $0.02.

What exactly does Nokia put in their phones that is "limited to their usuage"?? Surely one can get more usuage out of GPS maps using internal HW, or WiFi for improved internet speeds - even free for those that pay a limited and restrictive data connection.

What isn't fair? Nokia announced the N82 and DELIVERED Production Shipments the SAME DAY! FCC approval was less than 2wks before official announcement, and the N82 was rumored as far back as last December. Spy photos were very accurate. The K850i was announced in January this year, yet took over 9mths to ship it! That is WAY too long in a product lifecycle like.

The P1i is a good example as so many users appreciate this phone but just prefer the N82's styling and design fundamentals.

If you're going to compare "fairness" on the Side of SE .... what do they have to offer the world market (not just Japan's market) in 2008? This threads rumor of a product that has YET to surface any hard details? Particularly priviledge few have stopped posting any hints - as confusing as they may be to us - since I made a post in another thread (about asking for pictures) about how EASY the Top Brass could find who is looking information.

The first spy-pics came around december january, and that k850 "prototype" had the same look as the one i have in my pocket right now.
And the only major upgrades from k800 is hsdpa and 5mp cam, which shouldn't be too hard to put in a phone..
