I payed the same ammount for the p990,but if the p5 will look anithing like that,I won't buy it at all.My question @PK:does it have a qwerty keyboard or not?That's my main issue.This will help me decide between p1(which I currently want to buy) and p5.So please...

It will be a slider (see page 1), so we can hope, it will have the p1i keyboard at least. after M600 and p1 keyboards have proven to be ok, I think that a full qwerty keyboard will not return on any SE handset

Well,the p1 keyboard is more than ok,it's just great. And it's way better than the one on the p990.Ok,so I'll have to keep waiting

It's not often Boinng and i agree in fact in general we tend to hold very different views but in this thread i agree with his sentiments entirely. I wish i didn't and could say how wrong he is, but in all honestly this is how i have felt for the last year and been told i am an SE hater for saying so.
We've disagreed in the past because I thought you were overstressing the importance of things like HSDPA in current generation phones, but I've come around to the view that actually, SE should have at least one flagship* out there that embraces all the latest technologies, as a flag bearer for the brand. The P1 is, I'm sure, a very sensible choice for many people and a perfectly worthwhile smartphone in its own right, but it's simply not exciting enough as a top-range smartphone; it doesn't compete with what a lot of what Nokia, Apple, and even relative newcomers like Samsung and LG are doing, and that's a sad state of affairs for a brand that used to be known for its cutting edge.
SE need to have an Iphone-answering "hero" phone, not in a year's time, or even six month's time, but now. Something that can excite people about the brand and which genuinely challenges expectations. The P5 might well have the abilities to do that now, but if it doesn't arrive for another year then it's no good to anyone, SE will just get leapfrogged again in that time. To be honest, even after looking at all these lovely photoshops, I can't get excited about a phone that will just be looking old again by the time it's released.
(* - please don't anyone bring the K850 up here - it's a nice cameraphone, but that's all it is. Nokia's S60 handsets with similar cameras (N95, N82 etc) are just plain better).

@Boinng
And I think SE will do it.
It's a race, man. They have no choice to be really competitive, and they WANT to be. It's top 3 phone maker.
Smartphones are the future. It's a fact, they'll be more and more multitasking devices. All the makers now fight to be on this market. Look at LG or Motorola and remember their portfolio 3 years back - no smartphones. And now? Everybody wants to make it.
In next years smartphones will have at least 50percent of the market, or something like that. There's no way back.
And SE will surely squeeze the best of their potential.
Of course, not all SE fans will like it, but it's normal. BTW N82 is the ugliest Nokia I've seen, IMHO. But many will love it.

Didn't Sealover say he was working on a rear photoshop of the P5?
Posted by PeterKay
he's trying to but nothing yet!

@tomasz.luch
That is why when the rumours of the P5 spec started being speculated on i said it was very this year. Those are the chips i am expecting to see in next years devices as they can take full advantage of both the increased HSDPA speeds and the content being made available with Web 2.0.
In a way i am relieved that SE have had rethink on spec and are improving it but expecting to launch this time next Year is madness as others have said it really needs to be asap even late Q2 next year is going to be pushing it IMO.

Makes a lot of sense to me....
I have a P1i, and the most annoying thing about the basic menu structure / key mapping is, that you often have 3 options at the bottom bar, but can only choose the middle option with a hardware button (jog wheel).
To choose left or right option, you have to touch the screen with your finger or whip out the stylus.
If you can activate these options by hardkeys you have a much better onehanded device.

@sealover - why do you keep on making the Shortcut-key on your photoshop?? There isn't any shortcut-key. Also, get rid of those "touch sensitive" keys like on the K850
Posted by PeterKay
thats why its not 10/10

P990 had a flip.
Posted by PeterKay
well said @thecoolsha

Im telling you it's 'cos it says P5i on the front! lol
Posted by anonymuser
Surely, if the P5 has soft keys at all (rather than simply the touchscreen) it should have three? Unless UIQ4 takes a step back from UIQ3's layout?
Posted by icaka
First post updated.
People do you NEED more than that?Really?
Its close enough if PeterKay says so
Not perfect, but still, much bigger changes than the current inequalities can be made till the announcement.
